  1. I am studying pre-medicine and have 2 more years to go. I have never had a job before so I have no income. I still live with my parents and they say they would be my co-sponsers. My fiance also has never worked but he plans on getting a job when he comes here. His parents are wealthy and they plan on buying us a small house or apartment as a wedding gift (but there is no way to prove this), and our parents would help pay our studies. Then when I graduate I plan to take a year or two off of school to work while my fiance finishes his studies.

My question is, will we have problems because of this? Can a co-sponser be responsible for 100% of the income? (since I have 0 income). Another problem is that my dad made 47k this year in taxes (for a family of 5, including my fiance). This meets the 125% poverty line, and last year he made 34k which is also barely enough. But two years ago he only made 22k and we had a shortsale on our home. He is self-employed (owns a handyman company).

Any advice/comments are appreciated! All of this has had me kind of worried.

  2. I was looking at the processing times on the USCIS website (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do) and it says that the K1 visas being processed currently are from October 2010!! (And the site was last updated January 2012).

Does this mean the waiting times are currently more than 1 year? Please help I am freaking out! I just sent my I-129F package yesterday and I was really hoping to marry this year so my fiance can start his university here asap...

We met on an online game so I'm worried they might think we are childish.

It's great how you guys met through an online negotiation. It's the serendipity of life. :)

L+T, thank you! knowing that makes me feel much more at ease.
