  1. Thank you JimmyHou

Yes i m talking about a traffic ticket the due date is for august 25 but i think i m sure i will have my oath before that they already mail my letter. What will happen if i decide to pay after my oath ceremony because i have until august 25 to pay i m don t yet if i m going to discuss the ticket because i discuss the ticket because i didn't cross the line when i realized the red light i go back in the line and wait for the green flight

    I agree with Jimmy.

I saw people who were not allowed to take the oath because they have a pending ticket. If I were you, I won't risk it.

  2. Checking my Status online it says:

"On July 1, 2015, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC***********. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice."

Any idea on how long before I receive an interview notice. It is coming up on a week at this point, should I be worried it is lost in the mail?

No need to be worried. They schedule the interview about 30 days or more in advance. Don't forget we had 4 of July holiday. most likely you will get it anytime this week.
  3. re-entry permit is a a document you will need if you wanted to stay out of the US for more than a year

this is a generic letter they sent it to everybody. If you don't have it then it doesn't apply to you.

    I would bring any relevant document to your case for example;

1- if you are applying based on the marriage to a USC, then bring extra proof that you guys still live together etc.

2- if you have some traffic tickets, i would bring a proof that you paid them.

use your imagination, in case if the officer asked for an extra document that you don't have it, then he/she will ask you to bring/ mail it to them, this might cause some delay on processing your case. That's why it's better to be prepared

  4. I will try to answer your question based on my knowledge.

    - Once your application is received , the lockbox facility will check your form that it's signed and has the correct fee, and also you filed through the right eligilblty window.

    - They will send the application to NBC where they will book you for Bio appointment. After receiving the background check, they will take a look at your case and they will leave a not for the field office adjudication officer with their findings, for example [ meet all the requirement for naturalization]

    - Once, your case is received by the field office, the officer who handles your case will review your case and write a note on potential issues that he/she wants to clarify during the interview. Once you successfully complete the interview, your application might be reviewed by a supervisor for final approval.

So, in case of denial, the field office is the one who can deny your case because they are the one who has jurisdiction over your case. But , the case can be rejected by the lockbox if you missed to sign the form or you sent the wrong fee .. etc.

  5. Hello,

I received my permanent residency status last year and I am visiting my home country for a couple of weeks this month. When I received my green card, I was living in Florida. I just moved to Virginia just a few days ago. Since I am departing to visit my country in the next couple of days, there was no time to switch my FL driver's license to VA license. VA law requires you to change license within 60 days of moving. After I return to the US later this month, I am still within the 60 days to change my license.

Now that you know my situation, here is a simple question... re-entry to the US requires my permanent resident card and a passport or U.S. Driver's license. I plan to use my permanent resident card and my FL license to re-enter. In the immigration form (if there is one that I need to fill out)/ customs form I will have to fill out on the plane, I will have my Virginia address as the home address. Will having a Florida Driver's License and a Virginia home address cause any problems during re-entry? Basically I am wondering if the immigration offer will question why I have a FL license when I live in Virginia.

    Thank you

DL is not a document to use to enter the US.

You shouldn't have problem to enter US, BUT later on you need to change your DL to VA DL to comply with the state law.

  6. It was really exciting when I heard immigration will be hosting the oath ceremony at Mount Vernon(George Washington's Estate) where I work. It was magical. Very exciting. I have a big smile on my face now. Lol. So I decided to take some pictures. It very simple and they don't take long. I took alot of pictures but uploading it, is a pain.

    Thanks yulisa,

I wish if my oath will be there. But, they do it only on 4 of july.

  7. For all of you who have received your oath ceremony mail. How long did it take for you to receive the mail?

I moved out of state the day of my interview and got them to change my new address.

My case status have been like this for atleast 3 weeks now.

We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number NBC****. We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by August 1, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice.

You should call them first thing on Monday, they should be able to fax it to you, have a fax number when you cann. The mail could be sent to the wrong address. I hope you don't miss your oath.

  8. THANK YOU for your suggestions!

I just did that and they managed to find the package before it was out for delivery. They were so extremely helpful.

This might help others - the delivering USPS office is Rio Salado (Phoenix, AZ) but nobody seems to answer the phone number they have listed (ending in 3245). Instead, I found this one 602-223-3242, and they seem to pick up the phone on that line. I spoke to Christy and she was amazingly helpful. Best customer service I have ever had through USPS! They are going to hold it for 1 day and deliver it tomorrow (06/30 which is my eligibility date) rather than today as scheduled.

OMG what a nightmare. I am just so thankful that Christy at USPS was so accommodating and helpful, so hopefully it all works out now.

Glad things worked out for you.

  9. usually when you send with priority mail, they will tell you when it will be delivered.

Try to intercept the package https://retail-pi.usps.com/retailpi/actions/index.action

    - Also, try tomorrow early morning to call the usps delivery post office hopefully they can stop/ return the package back.

If your priority date is before your eligibility date, there is a big a chance you will be denied on/after the interview.

  10. Hi! My oath ceremony is scheduled for July 17 at 11:30. There's an earlier ceremony at 9:00 on the same day - does anyone know if I could show up early and somehow take someone's spot if they don't show up? I'm trying to catch a flight after the ceremony. Just wishful thinking... haha

    Almost done!

how will you travel after the ceremony without a US passport ?
