Hi,
We’re on the same boat but it is my widowed dad I’m petitioning who’s never been here in the US. I believe there are documents needed if you’re petitioning a mother or a father. I didn’t send the original ones just the copies of each and I didn’t send out passport photos coz I think that is for spouse visa or maybe later at nvc stage. Attached are the things I submitted. I just added my driver’s license too on top of a copy of my US visa but it is optional.
- Personal check $535
- G-1145
- I-130 competed and signed
- Copy of Naturalization cert. (petitioner)
- Copy of Birth cert. (petitioner)
- Copy of US unexpired passport, biographical page (p)
- Copy of driver’s license (p) - optional
- Copy of Marriage cert. (p) - showing my name change
- Copy of Birth cert. ( beneficiary )
- Copy of Marriage cert. ( b)
- Copy of Spouse death cert. (b)
Wish us November 2018 filers the best!
Hello!!! I am going to send the petition for mom and dad; do I need to sign an affidavit I-864? Or only form I am sending in I-130 for each one , and two more questions:
do do I write a separate checks one for mom and one for dad ? Or one check with the total fee $1070.00
can i I send both applications in the same envelope?
Thank you in advance

Hello, I have some questions and I really need help: so I am a citizen and I am going to file I-130 for my mom and dad I understand I have to file one for each person and also I-864 one for each person as well; now my case is that I file taxes with my husband which I And using my income and his income; that’s why he will have to file I-864A one for each person as well! So I am filing the I-864 and I am confuse:
Part 1 which one I have to choose I was thinking 1.a.
part 2. Information about the principal immigrant ( who I should list my mom?)
Part 3. Information about the immigrants you are sponsoring not sure which one choose from 1 to 3 ? (Mom and dad are outside of the US and when they get approved they will come together)
part 3 enter the number of immigrants you are sponsoring in this affidavit ? Do I need to list 2 (mom and dad )? Is confusing because I am filing a separated one for my dad
thank you so much in advance! 🙏🏼🌷

you can translate the papers yourself, just have them notarized. or you can have a notary do it for you. to avoid wasting money i did it myself.
yes, your husband needs to fill out form I-864A. and NO, you can NOT file i-130 online, once you have filled out all the info & gathered all the documents you need to send it to your corresponded USCIS facility.https://community.simplecitizen.com/t/where-do-you-send-form-i-130-once-everything-is-complete/57
also i recommend you to fill out Form G-1145 to get notifications updates by email & phone, this way you will know if USCIS has received your package. also summit two passport photos of your parents. 2 for each member do not forget this.
Thank you so much!!! You can imagine how thankful I am with your answer that give me relief; I will translate it and my bank can notarized the docs! Now my mom a dad are outside of the country I don’t have the passport pictures with me :( it’s necessary? Thank you again !

Hi everyone! So I am a citizen and will like to bring my mom and dad to the USA, I just have some questions about the documents Like my birth certificate, mom and dad marriage certificate and my dad divorce document all this documents are in Spanish, I know I need to translate them and certified but I am lost do you know or have any idea where I can translate and get those certified ? Also so far what I have in my check list is:
1 form I-130 one for mom and one for dad
2 my birth certificate
3 certificate of my naturalization
4 marriage certificate of my mom with dad
5 my marriage certificate, because I did change my last name ( I have my husbands last name)
6 my dad certificate that prove his divorce in the past before mom
7 form I-864 affidavit one form mom one for my dad
now my joint sponsor will be my husband for different reason we file taxes together so our income is combine and also because both income satisfy what they require in other to support my mom and dad, so question since I have my joint sponsor my husband so I have to file I-864A??
And last question: so I created a profile online in Uscis when I apply for my citizen I look in the website under my previous profile and I don’t see where u can apply online for my parents instead of mailing the whole package?
Please help me I just want to make sure we don’t miss anything! Thank you so much! 👍🏻

Hello All,
I have I-130 approved for parents in-law (wife's father and mother on a separate I-130). The cases just arrived at NVC and I've paid AOS (Affidavit of Support) fee for father-in-law and IV fee. When I tried to pay fees for the mother-in-law, I have noticed that the AOS fee is already showing paid so only paid IV fee for her. Is this because the two cases are linked? I did notice the case numbers are only one digit apart (the last digit).
Can someone tell me if the immigration interviews for the parents in-law would be scheduled on the same date automatically? Or is it something that need to be requested?
Also, I did file I-130 myself and I filed both of them as principle immigrant - not sure if it should've been filed differently.
Thanks!
Hi I just saw your post I don’t have the answer for your questions all I need is advice if I could please! So I marry a USA citizen I can with k1 visa and finally I came a USA citizen one month ago and will like to bring my mom and dad as a permanent resident; my questions are
1. I will be the petitioner which I will be sending our tax return since we file together and will be enough income for both of my parents, since I am using my husbands income like i say we file taxes together, so is ok just me file as a petitioner?
2. Birth certificates and documents that I have in Spanish has to be translate? And notarized?
I really appreciate you I just lost and needs to guide where to start and what documents I need!
Thank you

I'm not sure if you read the full thread, but this type of case would surely not fall under "not difficult". There's misrep, an apparently non-cooperative spouse, abuse by a non-spouse or parent, etc.
U visas are not simple...professional assistance is highly suggested.
It’s true not easy process and yes better to get profesional assistance if she prefer to not adjust status

Hello everyone, I have been reading the forums a lot lately and finally found the courage to post. I really hope that I find the help I need with you guys. My story is complicated. I will try to organize my points well. Please ask if you need clarification.
I am a female immigrant who came here on a Fiance Visa. Our marriage was somewhat arranged but we spoke and got to know each other for 2 years before finally committing to moving to USA to live with him. Unfortunately, I found out that phone/long distance relationships don't really help in getting to know the person because once I came here, I found a completely different person than the one I knew over the phone.
My husband has a previous failed marriage experience and seems to have been traumatized by it. He seems to have married someone from overseas to keep in the dark and only feed the information he wants/sees fit to share. A lot of what he told me is false and I am just starting to learn more about my rights and legal issues... Long story short, he did not want to marry me legally within 90 days. But, under pressure, he did 2 days before expiration date.
He owns a small grocery business. He lives with his parents. His father (my father in law) is verbally abusive and has physically assaulted other members of the family, just not me yet. They force me to work, unpaid, in the store (regardless of my legal work permission, they force me to work unpaid). Not only that but he doesn't care about developing a relationship with me. He leaves me and goes on vacations alone. He seems to have psych issues from his previous marriage and I really don't know why he even married me.
I left my home, job, and everything to immigrate here for him and I am completely thrown in the dark here. Everything he told me about my visa is apparently wrong. He refuses to adjust my status, he avoids me like the plague, and he allow his father to verbally abuse me while forcing me to work in their store. It's as if he brought a free worker to use as he pleases.
Here are some details followed by questions that I hope you guys can help me with:
1) I came to the US on a K1 visa in January 2019.
2) I got married within 90 days BUT my husband switched my first & last name on the certificate.
3) K1 expired in April 2019.
4) He refuses to adjust my status. He claims that he does not have the money to do so and that the application + lawyer will cost $6,000. A friend offered to lend me the cost but he still refuses to do it.
Questions:
1) My friend says that I am at risk of deportation. Is that true?
2) If so, how do they find me? What triggers me being found to be deported?
3) Can I travel by plane WITHIN the states? I have a cousin in TX that I'd like to go to if things get worse.
4) What are the forms that he needs to submit? I-485 and I-130? Anything else?
5) If he continues to refuse to apply, is there any way for me to adjust my own status?
6) If anyone knows about divorce, female rights, or immigrant rights, can they get in trouble for forcing me to work illegally and unpaid? What are my legal rights in this case?
7) Are these things ground to file for divorce without being deported? I really don't want to go back to my country and have to start everything over, on my own, from scratch.
😎 Should I seek help from a lawyer? If so, should it be a divorce or an immigration lawyer? I don't have money for lawyers, how does that work?
9) HOW LONG does adjusting status take? I live near Springfield, VA. How long will it take to adjust my status?
10) Finally, if his father physically assaults me, can I call the cops? Will I be deported if I seek help from the local police? I am really scared that he may retaliate if I speak up.
I appreciate any input and help. I am new in the country and don't know what to do.
I’m so sorry you are going through that situation, it’s not right what they are doing with you!! Here the thing to adjust status is not difficult and I am willing to help you and guide you (not charge) I am not a lawyer, I came with k1 vida seven years ago and I did all my process so if u want I can definitely help you and hopefully your husband is willing to provide the documents that you need like w2, evidence that you live together etc; however always do everything with the true specially with DHS, because when u adjust status is proving that the relationship is real and everything ok; now if u feel you are victim of verbally abuse or more there is a protection you have and can apply for U visa since they have you work forcing you without pay that’s illegal and is abuse conduct! I am going to attach the info of the U visa!
Everything is going to be ok, don’t get desperate 👍🏻

Hi guys! So sorry just now texting is been a long long day with good news!!! I PASSED!!! 💓💓🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 So here isn’t my experience:
my appointment was at 12:45 pm I drove two hours and 30 from my house to Montgomery office, we arrived at 11:30 am ( I know little bit early but is better you never know) we wait in the parking lot until 12:10 then we went inside and pass security and told us sit down and check in in window number one when somebody is available! So I wait there like 20 minutes until somebody was in window number one for check in ask me for my notice and my green card and told me “ you are check in wait until somebody call you for your interview...
so exactly at 12:45 pm the officer came and call my last name and while walking to his office ask me how was the drive etc very nice and friendly! Then he ask me to raise my right hand and swear that I will tell the true etc, after that he says take a sit and let’s start with the test I was like sure ( I was so nervous guys omg my hands so cold I have a lot anxiety but the officer really friendly helps a lot so I started to feel better) then he ask me to read “who can vote?” And after write “citizens can vote” and then the civic questions:
what is an amendment?
Who is the speaker of the house?
Who is in charge of the executive branch?
Min what month we vote for president?
And guys so sorry 😐 but I don’t remember the last two I been thinking and thinking and nope don’t remember,
so he says congratulations you pass the test now let’s review your n400 ask me the personal information and done!
He says congratulations I will recommend for approval and you will get the ceremony notice and done!!!
Interview started at 12:45 and finish at 1:15 ... 30 minutes interview!!
Thank you guys and hope this help to have an idea how is the interview!!
Good luck 👍🏼

same day in the night of 03/22/2019 I check online and says we have schedule your interview and after three days I was able to see the notice with the day and time of the interview which is on Monday 04/29/2019; not sure why this fast maybe depends how many applicants on your city I live in a city that is not q lot of people that will apply for citizenship.

you'll be fine just make sure you know all the things you have on your application form, the IO will ask mainly whatever you have on your application form, plus of course the civic test. Good luck!

Sharing my Interview experience at Federal Plaza dated Apr 8, 2019 at 10:00AM
My spouse and I arrived at Federal Plaza 9:00AM, I was expecting that the guard won't allow us to enter the building since we're an hour ahead of my appointment time, but surprisingly the guard let us in.
We did the same process like everyone did about the screening at the lobby (like an airport security screening) workers at the lobby were not friendly at all and keep on yelling to some visitors that can't follow the instructions.
I was surprised as well that they don't let us remove our shoes but asks us instead to remove any metal thing from our body which was expected.
At the lobby you can see which elevator you need to go on you floor location so we proceeded on the right elevator and get off on the floor that was written on my interview notice.
After we get off from the elevator a guy on the door greeted us in a nice way and ask for our purpose, I just told him for Naturalization interview and ask for my interview notice, he said we're early but it's fine we can take a seat.
While we were seated my spouse told me to go to the window where the guy scanning the interview notice. I get up and went to the window and greeted the guy good morning, he said you're here for Naturalization interview? and I said yes.
He asked me if I have a lawyer and told him no, just me and my spouse, then he scanned my interview notice and wrote the IO name on my interview notice and gave me a number. He said take a seat first and wait for your number to be called.
I've noticed some applicants ask to go down to the 4th floor after the guy scanned their interview notice, which I found out because these people applications were situated on the 4th floor that is why they asked to go down.
Waited for 20 mins and an African American IO called my number, I stand up and greeted her but didn't bother to response, so for me that kind of gesture thinks she was so serious and I it's part of their job.
She asked me to follow to her room and ask me to remain stand and raise my right hand and take an Oath, she told me to seat and give to her my DL, green card and passport.
While I was seating she's keep on flipping my application which I think 5 inches thick LOL, and I was surprised that even my ROC 5 inches thick as well was there and she was checking.
We were quiet for about 7 mins then she started talk, she told me so you got your 10 years green card when? so I told her last year of June, and she said and you filed your naturalization same month? I told her correct.
Then she said, okay lets start with civic test, I can't remember all the questions but I answered the first 6 questions correctly then she stopped, then she asked me to read and write after the civic test and told me I passed.
She went through everything about my application from my full name 'till the last page of my application, these includes about my travel outside the US and the yes and no question, she asked me as well if I want to change my name and responded no. After that, she asked me to check the tablet in front me and to verify if all of my information were correct and sign it if everything is correct and told me that is the information that will print to your certification, I signed and accept it and we were quiet again for 5 mins again, while she's clicking her mouse and busy staring her monitor.
Then she asked me if I already filed our taxes for 2018 and I said yes, and she asked me to show to her and asked me as well if we have the recent joint account bank statement, I told her I have everything from 2014 to present (2019)
She told me I only need the recent month, I hand over to her our tax filing and our recent joint account statement and she checked each pages and the transaction of the statement.
After that she told me congratulation I will approved your application and expect a letter from the mail for your Oath Ceremony, I told her thank you. She printed the N-652 with x marks that I passed the civic test and recommended for approval and gave it to me. She asked me, do you have any questions for me, I said no I'm good then she escorted me outside and told me enjoy your day and I told here thank you and you too!
The interview lasted for 45 mins. I did not get the email and notification approval same day but I feel relived since I have the N-652 that I was recommended for approval and passed the civic test.
April 9, 2019 9:00am, I got three email and text notifications. One was we approved your case, the other one was I"m online for oath ceremony and the last one was we scheduled your oath ceremony.
My journey is almost end and thank you for everyone's contribution, will update my timeline soon once I have the oath schedule.
Hope this experienced helps and sorry for the long message.
MUCHOS GRACIAS
