  1. I called POE and they do not have any internal numbers for the embassy. They looked for like 15 minutes and tried to think of ideas.

I assume then the POE advised they would not accept it as is?

Here's a response from the MEXICAN consulate with an identical situation. Maybe you can do the same and have DHL send it on their penny!

"Our records indicate that xxxxxx was issued a visa on xxxx. If the visa packet has been opened before it was presented at the port of entry, xxxxxxxx needs to return her documents to our office in order to provide him a new visa packet. Your client may bring the opened packet to our information window . Otherwise, she may submit the packet to our office via courier as per the instructions below.

Please note that the process to submit documents to the consulate has recently changed. Applicants must visit http://mexico.usvisa-info.com to register. They will need to log onto this website using their Passport Number, Date of Birth and Nationality. When prompted to select a Trip Purpose, they should choose 'IV Administrative Processing' and then indicate that they needs to submit additional information by courier. This will allow applicants to register with DHL and choose the DHL site at which they wish to send and receive all future correspondence. After that, they should follow the instructions to submit the requested documents via DHL.

Once the documents have been received in the consular section, the case will be reviewed and the applicant will be notified of the officer’s decision via courier at no extra charge."

  2. You may also try call the DOS to see if they can't help in some way.

BTW when I activated my visa a couple days ago, the border agent informed me I DO NOT have to activate the visa my first time across. I can use my passport as it is for regular crossings but I just need to activate the visa before the expiry date. I believe this is contrary to what I have read on VJ. So the good thing is at least your hubby has his passport back. Not sure if this helps you or not.

  3. Wow! How were you able to complete so quickly?

Diligence? Luck? Persistence? But we also had the NVC misplace the AOS and were required to resubmit which arguably pushed us back and we "inadvertently" requested they expedite our case due to their error. I say inadvertently as we really only wanted to ensure there were no more delays. Regardless, they viewed our request as a formal expedite request which was honored by the consulate and gained us between 3 to 4 weeks with our interview. The drawback was we only got one week notice for the interview.

Congrats! I see you're from Abbotsford also!

Yup, my wife lives in Bellingham :)

  4. If you're planning on making the interview date, then you should email the consulate back asap and tell them you'll be attending the interview they scheduled already. If you don't do this, then they may change your date, thus making your trip to Montreal kind of pointless.

Already done but given I've received no response to either email I hope to heck they didn't change it. With my request for alternate dates I did advise I was currently trying to ascertain my ability to make the 14th so they shouldn't have changed it.

BTW, do all appointment letters come with a time? Mine says 10:00. Do I ignore that and crash the doors at opening? :D

  5. Oh, if you've got the medical done already, then I'd say try your hardest to keep that interview date.

Sent an email requesting alternate dates but no reply as of yet. Regardless, the little lady got the week off so flights are booked for Sunday, interview Wednesday !!! Amazing, even managed to book using Aeroplan miles! Going to stay until Friday and check out the city.

    Thanks for all the help!

  6. Wow, that's insane soon! Plus, you need to get the medical done as well before then!

Tell me about it!! Medical was done a few weeks back.

You can re-schedule online at the CSC site (same site where you sign up for DHL/Loomis). I suggest taking a look at the calendar and any available dates. Be warned, if you re-schedule, the earliest dates will probably be December.

The email did say to advise them by email if I want to reschedule but will simply looking at the calendar forfeit my current date?

  7. I think yer gonna be the lab experiment here.

(In reference to an inadvertent Montreal Expedite Request)

As per Saylin, I sent an email off Thursday Nov. 1 to the Montreal Consulate requesting case info. I called the Consulate Friday but they don't take calls. I called the DOS Monday and they had no info. I called DOS today and they had no info. I called the NVC once again today to verify the case was expedited.

Today I received an email response from my Thursday email to the consulate and our interview is scheduled for NEXT WEDNESDAY, November 14!!!!! :dancing::dance::dancing:

    How's that for a lab rat? :D

So as much as I was expecting a rather short lead time, I was NOT expecting only 1 week! :o We don't know if my spouse, who REALLY wants to be there can get the time off. There is mention in the email if I can't make the appointment to notify immediately BY EMAIL  One way or the other I will probably accept the scheduled appointment assuming I can get a flight, but what are thoughts on rescheduling? Advisable or inadvisable? :help:

  8. They are having their interview in the states.

I suppose it would have to have some pretty special circumstances to do so.

Beats the heck out of flying across the country but I wouldn't begin to speculate any prevailing circumstances which brought it about. The simple fact is it doesn't follow standard protocol which is what the lawyer had eluded to.

  9. Just to reinforce VeeNDee's position, I just received a response from the Montreal Consulate. "American Citizens are allowed to accompany applicants if space constraints permit and they bring their U.S. passport or an enhanced driver’s license."

  10. I've read about sign in failures prior to an invoice becoming available, but is it possible this is related to our expedite request? Wishful thinking I know!

I can tell you that even though our case is apparently expedited, I can still log into the CEAC website so I suspect it is wishful thinking. It took us 28 days after receiving our NOA2 before we could make a payment through the site. If you haven't yet, I would call and inquire.
