  1. One thing I would suggest is to go to NSO and get extra copies of the birth certificates if you have time (4-6), as you will be glad you did once you are here. Extra certified copies of the marriage certificate may be nice also, if you can get that.

As long as you have a return ticket or any ticket leaving the country again you will be fine, if they should happen to ask to see it. I think the airlines will be looking more closely before you depart then the customs agent in the Phils will.

    so you think im set?

  2. Ok everyone,i live in america and my wife and daughter live in the Philippines. Ive been filing all the paperwork to get them here. Finally after many months of paperwork i have everything i think i need so i can go pick them up and bring them back home with me, but every time i turn the corner there's always one more thing.

So can you all tell me if i have everything ready or if im missing anything?

    My wife has her:

    1. CR1 spousal Visa

    2. CFO stamp

    3. Our marriage certificate

    4. Her Filipino Passport.

    My daughter has her:

    1. U.S. Passport

    2. Consular Report of Birth Abroad Certificate(CRBA)

    3. She will soon be getting her Emigration Clearance Certificate(ECC or Exit Permit)

    4. Her Filipino birth Certificate

My plan is to buy a one way ticket there for me and a one way ticket back of the three of us, so we can all be on the same flight. Does that seem ok? Is the Filipino airport going to give me any problems when i arrive if i have a one way ticket in then a different one way ticket back for us, because i know in America, customs will not let you enter the country if you only have a one way ticket and not a round trip.

  3. Good question. How long has your daughter had her passport? 1250PP plus 200PP per month since issue of passport

ok thank you! can my wife go to any burea of immigration office to get this exit permit instead of going to manila, does she need a appointment?

  4. ECC. is an exit clearance for your baby, your wife`s identification or passport.bring your baby`s nso birth certificate, US passport 2x2 picture and specially the baby at the BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT located in INTRAMUROS MANILA.they will goin to get a finger print of your baby and they will goin to issue an ECC that you will need it at the airport.better do it 1 week before the flight the payment is 550 or 750 pesos..we did this before to our baby boy before we move to alaska. its very easy no problem..takes only 1/2 to 1 hr to get this thing done..have a nice day !

she lives in mindinao, so she cant go to manila to do it one week before. she can only do it 3 days before her flight. Will they give her the certificate the same dayas she goes in? Does she need a appointment for this?

  5. She would need a Filipino passport to show her Filipino citizenship. You said she already has a US passport to show her US citizenship.

To leave the Philippines, she needs either a Filipino passport, or the E.C.C. from the Bureau of Immigration.

By the way, are you aware of having to pay a travel tax for your wife to leave the Philippines as well?

How long does it take to get the ECC? how long does it take to get the filipino passport? i didnt know but now i do, thank you.

  6. Until someone else comes along that has actually done this, if you don't want to get your daughter a Filipino passport, you need to contact the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines. Here is a directory of their various offices. You may be able to take care of everything as you clear customs, or you may have to do this ahead of time.

what im just wondering is that when my wife got our baby's CRBA it came with a paper that said:

After issuance of your first US passport or your child's consular report of birth abroad, and at least 2 weeks before departure from the Philippines, please visit or contact the alien registration division of the philippine bureau of immigration. to obtain an emigration clearance certificate, also known as exit permit. this is a requirement by the Philippine government.

im just wondering will they mail this if can get in contact with them?

  7. The cfo stamp is for her. If you get a Filipino passport for your baby, you have to get one for the baby as well. If you don't, you just pay the fee on the way out. Also, be aware, depending how old the baby is, they may try and charge an overstay charge as well.

Im a us citisen, i got married in the philippines and stayed in the philippines for a couple of months and got my wife pregnant after we got married, then i came back to America to start the visa process, 8 months after i left she had our daughter, my daughter is 5 months old. She was born there in the philippines and has been approved for her U.S. passport and CRBA. She has already recieved them and now i am going to pick them up and bring them to America Since my wife already has her cr1 visa now. My wife has a filipino passport with a CR1 visa and a CFO stamp, and my daughter has a us passport with a CRBA. So what will we need to do?

  8. It means if you do not get a Filipino passport for your child, you will have to pay 710 pesos when you depart the Philipines.

well i think i can manage to pay that, but does my baby need a ECC? My wife already has her Cfo stamp which allows her to leave the philippines

    (MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. AFFJr. – 04 – 025 dated 14 December 2004).

please explain does this mean i do not need it?

  10. Ok, so my baby received her CRBA and her US passport. With the CRBA there is a reminder page that says she must get a Emigration Clearance Certificate(ECC). My wife in child are in Southern Mindanao and i am waiting to bring them to America, this ECC is the only thing holding me back as my wife just got her her CR1 Visa, but i need to get them both here b4 it expires in a few months.

    1. Can someone please tell me what this ECC is?

    2. How do i go about getting the EEC?

    3. Most Importantly, how long does it take to get this ECC?

    4. Does she have to go to manila to get the ECC, or will they mail it to her?

  11. OUR CRBA WAS APPROVED! YAY! They say it will come in the mail soon along with our daughters passport. My question is, my wife says we forgot about the whole applying for my daughters social security number thing. Is that going to be a problem? Can my daughter leave the Philippines without a social security number if she has a Certificate of Birth Abroad and a Passport? BTW i am a US citizen and my wife has her CR1 visa, my daughter was born in the Philippines. Will they issue her one in America?

  12. Hi VJ!

since i will be having an interview and at the same time applying a CRBA and passport for my son and some requirements are almost the same just like the DIVORCE CERTIFICATE, EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT, etc. my question is do we have to produce 2 copies of his divorce papers and the like or i can use the same for my son's CRBA Application? are they going to take all the papers that i will submit to them on my interview or they will return to me after my interview?

thanks in advance for your comments!

i would get 2 copies, they ask for 2 copies of everything else

  14. ok if i want to go to the philippines, can i pay for a one way ticket there and since i dont know when i want to come back, pay for a one way ticket back? or will the philippines not allow that? Because i know The US will not allow some people to enter if they dont have proof they are going back, via a round trip ticket.
