    Hi all,

    My mother in law (70 year old lady) has been a permanent resident for 7 years. We would like to consider the option of naturalization but she does not speak English.

    I heard that there are are exceptions applied for elder citizens (i.e. they can take a test in their native language etc.). Anyone knows if this stand and where I can read more about this?

    Had an interview last week and all it went well until the CO found out that one of the Police Certificates was missing from my file :(

    I sent the original certificate to NVC but somehow did not make it to the Embassy.

    The CO gave me the "Foreign Service of the United States of America Refusal Form" in which section 221g was marked and requested Original Police Certificate.

    I managed to get a certified copy only. Should I worry???

    Please help.

    Nervous about Embassy

    Hello,

    My fiancé lives in Barbados and is a citizen of Guyana. I called the NVC and was advised that our package was sent to Barbados Embassy (the embassy I put on the I-129F form). Have anyone had a similar situation where your fiancé lived in another country and did not have to go back to their home country embassy/consulate for the interview? I'm concerned that this may cause some problems. :( He's in Barbados on a work visa and been living there for 8 years. I was told (by one person) the NVC would forward to Guyana Embassy if he was not a citizen of Barbados; however that was not the case.

    Any information will be greatly appreciated. :help:

    Don't worry. Although I'm applying for CR1, I have the same situation and there should not be any problem apart from additional documents ;)

    Your fiance will need 2 police certificates (1 from Barbados and another one from Guyana).

    c. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the beneficiary

    d. Completed and 'unsigned' form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary

    e. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport

    f. Original/Certified birth certificate of the beneficiary

    g. Original/Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

    h. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

    i. 1 set Photocopy of all the above civil documents

    FWIW, I was told by an operator (and supervisor) one evening that there were no interview dates available for the following month, the very next day I called again and was told an interview had been scheduled for that next month. YMMV but I thought I would mention this to you as an example that there is a chance.

    It's ALWAYS possible! There's lots of proof of getting interviews in months when the operator has previously stated it's full (like with Ryan, above).

    Thanks for moral support and advise Ryan and Saylin.

    Hope the same happens to me cause I don't really get it why they should keep a completed case for 1+ months! To me it doesn't make any sense!!!

    Moreover my case no. was assigned on July 27, it ends with 001 and there are just a few petitions from where I come from :angry:
