  1. thanks a lot for the replies everyone. :) i really appreciate it...i got a last question....

my wife said that someone said to her that a lawyer can make it possible (petitioning for her youngest sister the same time as her mom), so we are thinking of getting a loan for the expenses if ever the lawyer can really make it happen. here are my questions.

    1. is it real that its possible for an immigration lawyer to do that? any experience?

    2. how much does it cost to hire an immigration lawyer?

    thanks!

  2. Your MIL can petition them once she gets here as they are not married and do not get married whilst waiting.

Your wife can petition them now, age does not matter, but they have a very long wait. Also getting married does not matter.

No matter which way they will not be coming to the US anytime soon unless you can find them US Boyfriends?

How old is the under 21 exactly.

one is 19-20 i think....and the other one is 22-23.

i have heard that my MIL can petition them even before arriving here....is there any truth to that?

  3. Good day everyone,

    So, i'll explain the situation.

My wife's mother (my wife is the US citizen) had already been approved to migrate to the USA (still needs to get medical and interview though)...that's the assured part, the question wanted to inquire about to you guys, and i hope someone could help us (coz we will spend so much money on getting her mom here already, so we dont want to pay for a lawyer) is if its possible for my wife OR my mother-in-law who is just arriving to petition her younger sisters so that they can at least follow or arrive together with my mother-in-law....we plan on have her arrive here early next year.

my wife got 2 sisters, 1 is below 21 and one is past the 21 age limit, but both of them aren't married.

please help us with any possibilities and if its not much of a bother, please explain to us on what to do.

we would really, really all appreciate your help...thank you so much and God bless!

  4. hello everyone, this question is actually not ours, we're helping a couple on their petition and they have this kind of problem:

he and his wife are living together for 16 years in germany (the guy is the US citizen), now they both came here in the US like, 2 months ago and his wife wanted to apply for a CR-1 visa...the only problem is she wanted to stay here in the states while waiting for the petition and according to her visa, she is a tourist and she can only stay

i advised them to file the whole I-130 (CR-1) and just add the I-485 (AOS), I-693 (medical exam) and I-765 (EAD) forms along with the I-130 forms (does that mean they need to pay for both I130 and I-485?)....

was that advise right or did i miss some things???, its kinda bothering me since his wife is a tourist and his wife dont have any I-95 or I-94 in her visa/....please help. i want them to get it right.

    thanks a lot!!!

  5. hello everyone, good day...i need help with my I-693, i can fill out the applicant's part but im having problems on how to answer the 2nd part until the last part (the ones that a civil surgeon needs to take care of)...my exam from St. Luke's Medical Center from the Philippines is still with and wont expire until August 31 next year...am i right that i just need to fill out the first part and attach my medical exam? what should i do about the sealed CD from St. Luke's by the way?

    thank you very much.

  6. can i apply for just EAD and AP though? i want to save with my own on the AOS stuff (it costs too much, i dont want to burden my wife with it, we already married last april 18)....but the problem is my I-94 expires on july 8 and from what i heard was K1 cannot extend their I-94s. :(

is there a way around it? where i can apply for AOS next year? (after i save up, my medical expires on august 2014 anyway) and just apply for the EAD and AP in the meantime?

  7. hello everyone! hope you help me with some of my questions:

    1. would still be ok if we apply for AOS with my I-94 expiring on july 8, 2013 (and my visa expiring on july 17)?

    2. did i get it right that my application for EAD and AP being free of charge if i send it with AOS application? so we should just basically pay $1070?

    3. can we send it online or just strictly by mail?

thank you very much! God bless!

  8. thank you very much neodragon, i guess i'll have to ask my wife to shoulder the costs for now... :( it hurts me but i have no choice...

im now at california and im just trying my luck on online jobs for now as a graphic artist...

i know i shouldve read the process of AOS first before coming here but its not like i can produce that kind of money in few months...we will apply for SSN tomorrow so i guess i'll start from there....

thanks for all the responses guys...i appreciate it. you all have a good day.

    @neodragon.

by the way, i know its a dumb question and all, but i cant seem to find the address where i should send the AOS/EAD/AP packet. could you help me with this? thanks again. sorry for the trouble.

  9. hello everyone, i just got here on california USA last april 10. im still adjusting to my new life with my wife (i was a K1 visa holder, we got married last april 18)...of course, im now a house husband but i want to work so bad soon...i checked and im preparing my AOS and EAD files as of the moment but then i saw the fees are around $1070 (including $85 for the biometrics) just for the AOS fee alone.

the thing is, i dont want to trouble my wife with it anymore, as a man, i want to work for it....can anyone help with these questions?

    1. is it fine for me to just get the SSN for the meantime and let the AOS, EAD and AP applications wait? can i get jobs just with SSN alone?

    2. if this is fine, would it still be alright to file for AOS (and the other two stuffs) with an expired I-94?

this one is regarding to me filing for SSN on friday:

    3. SSN requires another ID (US issued) aside from passport, but i dont have any. would the visa (inside my passport) do?

also, i know this is kinda off-topic but:

    4. how much will driving lessons cost in california?

i feel so helpless right now, i want to adjust and earn money to help my wife ASAP...i would appreciate everyone's response. thank you very much, being a petitioned wife in US is hard, but being a petitioned husband in US is hard and humbling at the same time....im not used to this, i want to provide for my wife....like im providing to my mother and father back in the Philippines.

  10. My wife and I are also leaving for the US on April 10th. She packed tons of that kind of stuff in our baggage, including a gigantic bag of concentrated calamansi powder. From what you say, I think you'll be fine with what you're bringing. If you see a white guy with a lot of tattoos in the airport that's probably me; good luck :)

    - Bron (Makati/Utah)

cool!!! :) you can spot me easily bro, i have long hair and a male japanese samurai doll tattoo in my right forearm :) goodluck to us!!! Godbless.

    Should not have any problem.

Safe flight and welcome to US soon!

    thank you very much! :)

  11. Shouldnt be a problem unless you have massive amounts. If you are worried just write it on your customs form -- dont have to be specific can just write "cosmetics - $50" or whatever. I believe they wont charge duty on it if its under I think $500? total in items that you are bringing in as long as they dont have reason to believe you intend to sell the stuff. The liquids/gels guideline only pertains to pre-boarding, and not POE.

thank you. its just few boxes of chocolates and 3 bars of soap and some more thing of that quantity :)

  12. hello everyone, i'm leaving for US on april 10 to marry my fiance, i just need help on these questions about the POE.

    1. my fiance requested me to bring some foods and cosmetics only found in our country and i'm planning to use my check-in luggage for it...would this be a problem at the POE? i'm bringing stuffs like biscuits, chocolate bars and sour cream powder, and polvoron (it's a filipino pastry), as well as eyeliners, colognes and soaps that she requested.

would this be a problem at the POE at all?

i was told at the CFO seminar that food are allowed as long as:

    1. it won't be spoiled within 24 hours.

    2. no fruits and veggies.

    3. no foul smelling stuffs.

    4. and liquids (to be hand carried) needs to zip-locked and must not exceed 100ml.

i really would appreciate your feedbacks, i wanted to bring every thing my fiance requested since she already bought everything i need upon arriving US (clothes, phone etc.) and it's my little way of thanking her.

    thank you very much.
