  1. "To whom it may concern:"

Not necessary. Letter of intent is only required for the I-129F.

Actually some embassies require letter of intent, I don't know about Manila but our packet 3 lists a letter of intent,

I would just head it "To whom it may concern"

  2. wow 7days???....i live next door from the service center lol i should of drive there and get it personality lol joking no i don't have any criminal record....not the i know of...hhmm lol oh well i guess the key is to be patience.....okay i will send it ASAP when i received their mail..i will send it thru express mail  thanks for your advice dear....goodluck for ALL of us.

It can take up to 7 days....I live halfway across the country from the service center and it has taken 3 days for all communication from them to get to me. How long did your NOA 1 take? The RFE should take about the same time.

  3. hello everyone, my case was finally completed at NVC on june, 29 i called to askk when will my interview date might be they said they have no idea, very frustrating, just called today and still nothing, does anyone know how long it usually takes for a interviem in DR embassy, or when does NVC assigned the interviews in what dates of the month.. getting anxious here.. thank you everyone for all the advice i have gotten on my journey couldnt have done it with out all of you.. thank God for this site..

According to the reviews on here the interview in DR takes 2-4 months after the embassy receives the paperwork, but the NVC will never be able to give you a date.

The interview is at the consulate in DR, NVC does not schedule that. It is done in DR. You won't get an interview date until NVC sends it there and then they will contact you or you call them.

  5. Ok, I'm trying to go through our on yahoo chats to send for proof of our relationship, but our conversations seem to turn sexual a lot. Im really ashamed to send it, but my Fiance said well they wanted proof so give them what they want... what do you guys think

I just sent the record of the chats, how many and when , I did not include any of the actual chats no content whatsoever. Just like I sent a copy of phone bill with calls and texts, could not see what was sent or said. no need for that. I had no problems no RFE

  6. We are trying to get everything together for our K1 interview in Bogota, apparently in Colombia when you are born you register at a "notario" and that is where you would go if you needed a copy of your birth certificate.

I don't know if anyone has run into this before, but what can you do if noone knows which notario you were registered at when you were born. This is the case with my fiance. It would not be a problem in a small village with one notario but in Bogota (9 million people) there are hundreds of notarios. Has anyone had to go through this? Is there some central registration?

Oh and her dad can't remember where she was baptized either.

    Any help would be appreciated

  7. One more question.. Can I/We just print the forms (G235A,I 129f) then fill it up using black ink ballpen? Cause some of the boxes is not enough for the info.. Like for example, My fiance's name is Allen Jennings, and the country, I can just only wrote there PHILIPPINE.. the box is not enough what can i do?

You can print it out and fill it in with pen as long as it is legible, or if filling it out on the computer you can do certain things to make it fit, of course for the country you can use the internationally accepted country abbreviations. Other abbreviations can be used in other slots too as long as they are easily recognizable.

Also you only need the petitioners birth certificate for the original petition, and do not need the beneficiaries birth certificate until the interview at the embassy.

  8. No matter what, we plan to have a wedding in both countries. A wedding doesn't have to be recognized by any gov't to be a wedding.

Also, I want to avoid being apart immediately after getting married as much as possible. That's why I think my plan is good. Can someone tell me why it wouldn't work?

With either visa and either wedding she has to be in Korea for her visa interview and with the difficulty of a tourist visa while you wait will probably have to stay until her visa is approved and either way you could stay in Korea with her.

  9. I can tolerate the stares, but that doesn't mean I enjoy them. My husband doesn't like any kind of negative feedback directed my way at all. He's the one who really can't tolerate it.

My husband has never had a problem with people staring and whispering here because there are Indians, Somalians, anything and everything south of the US, Chinese, etc. everywhere. Tons of diversity. It's much easier to blend in when everyone looks different from each other.

I didn't ask my husband to give up everything and move here. I offered to move there and we discussed moving to Bermuda, Australia and Germany as he had promotional opportunities in each place. He chose to move here because he loved it here.

But hey, "How did you get over asking your spouse to tolerate what you cannot?", thanks for making me sound like a massengill who can't deal.

Sorry that's not what I meant.

Just really struggle with guilt of putting someone I love in that position it may end up being no big deal, but I am in a position where I se people get stared at and teased a lot for things that are beyond their control.

And like your husband, it will probably bother me more than her.

  10. 4) I don't like being stared at and it happens a lot when you look pretty different from the billion people around you. Freckles are not a skin disease by the way.

The 2 of you mention several times not fitting in/ clothes fitting/ people staring etc. and you can't seem to get used to it.

We chose to come here because of income ie it would be harder for me to make a living there. However I suffer with feelings of guilt for asking her to leave everything behind and come to a place where people may stare or see her as different. Of course she never brings this up but I know it has to be scary for her.

How did you get over asking your spouse to tolerate what you cannot?

  11. If you look in the Colombia portal forums (sorry i don't know how to make a link) OZ62 has posted copies of his letters in both english and spanish that lists all of the things you need for your interview. Perfect for advance preperations.

It's only a couple threads below this one.

    THANKS OZ62

Oops I was so excited that I might actually know the answer to something I didn't even notice that you have already done the interview at the embassy which is the one I was talking about.

    Sorry

  12. OK...

so im obsesses with the numbers and from what I can tell...I dont see why the USCIS takes so long.

Here are the numbers (raw data) from the site on I-130 Imm Rel:

    I-130 CSC Trend

    MONTH TOTAL COMPLETED PERCENT

    Dec-2011 16913 8797 52.01%

    Nov-2011 18350 10194 55.55%

    Oct-2011 18546 12025 64.84%

    Sep-2011 18006 14245 79.11%

    Aug-2011 19924 15879 79.70%

    I-130 National Trend

    MONTH TOTAL COMPLETED PERCENT

    Dec-2011 37059 28817 77.76%

    Nov-2011 39405 32757 83.13%

    Oct-2011 39030 33010 84.58%

    Sep-2011 38462 40400 105.04%

    Aug-2011 43533 44639 102.54%

I'm not sure if the "completed" numbers include what they refer to as "Awaiting Customer Action". But none the less those would be "touched" which im sure we all would get exited if we knew our petition was at least touched.

Anyway, If according to the numbers...lets say December>>>they are already 52% complete. So my question is, why then months to complete the remainding 50%.

Does anyone have any insight or opinions or even some rebuttle as to why these are misleading. Or perhaps could someone explain my err in thought.

    v/r

OK for example....they didn't receive 16913 in December, that is how many they pulled from the waiting list to work on and of these they completed 8797 the rest would be completed the next month or later when they finish the RFE's etc. and of the 16913 they worked on most of those were probably received in august. I agree that you should get a hobby and stop obsessing, I understand you are a numbers guy maybe you could get a hobby tutoring statistics.

  13. What should we be preparing to bring to the interview. Please any help with this is appericated. I do not even know what I should take.

  14. Um I would never trust an insurance company that only charges $60/mo. A single doctor appointment costs more than that. All you have to do is have a baby to eat up that deductible, and the insurance company knows that. My parents complain about their insurance and they pay close to $1200/mo.

Generally, citizen or not, most insurance policies require a 6 month waiting period when going a certain period of time without it unless you can prove you had coverage before hand. Some policies do not, mine does not. Typically once you get married, you would go on your spouses insurance, and you would check with their policy to see what the terms are.

An insurance company won't give you insurance for $60 a month if you have a baby. The price depends on your situation and age. And with a $2500 deductible it will be a while until the insurance kicked in. $60 a month is pretty common for a young single or couple with no kids and high deductible. I pay $80 now let's see what happens when I add my new wife and son.

  15. Thanks OZ, but I'm trying to avoid fees if possible, and I like the idea that I can just sit at this computer and do an electronic transfer to an account that would not charge any fees. So it looks like it's either Capital One Bank or USAA if I can qualify.

    Jon & Clau

I send by either Western Union or now xoom and both of them I do from my computer at home.I never used moneygram because it was more convenient for my fiance to find a western union outlet and it was almost the same price. Xoom is 4.99 Western Union varies but has been 3.00 for up to @

200 for the last year, last time I checked Moneygram was 4.00 for 100

NEVER exchange money at the airport....the exchange rate is horrendous.

  16. Has anyone ever had to deal with an ex who has irrational fears about a "scary" foreigner moving here and living with you and your joint custody children? Do they have any right to demand personal info about the foreign fiancee/spouse or to interfere in any way?

She does have the right to know about who is living wth the kids, just as you do. If you did not inquire when her "other" moved in because of apathy or because you trusted her judgement, that is fine. But she has the right to know whether she is doing it out of concern or to make your life difficult may yet be determined.

No the USCIS is not in the habit of giving Visas to felons and drug dealers, and that is why they asked for the information they do, such as the G325A but they will not share that info with your ex, so if you tell her that the person is fine because she got a Visa, she may accept that or she may ask for the info to find out herself. If she has reason to believe there may be a danger to the children a court will back her up and require you provide basic information to determine if the concerns are valid.

I'm sorry you and your ex do not have a good enough relationship that you can introduce them and let her see for yourself that she is a good person, but as you can see just from the stories on here there have been many bad calls. Just give her the info and let her see that it is Okay.

  17. I dont understand this touch issued. I signed up on the uscis website to get the regular updates. I got my NOA1 from January 25. But im surprise that a full 2 months have passed and the last update is on February 9. Does any one else has issues like this? BTW it s at the VSC.

It has been 2 months and yet everywhere you look it says it will take 5 months. In 3 more months you can start getting anxious, for now just take a deep breath and relax. If you get lucky and it happens in under 5 months it will be a great surprise.

  18. 1. Go to: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

    2. Enter your Receipt Number

    3. Check status

    4. If you haven't done so, on the left side, select "Sign-up for case updates"

    5. If you have an account, select "Sign-in My Account"

    To log in:

    Select Type: Customer

    Enter User ID:

    Enter Password:

This could have been as simple as filing the package or moving it from one location to another.

    Doesn't say anything.

Don't forget to set e-mail and cell (mobile) alerts.

Then the agony starts... everyday check the website...

Every day check my cell phone...

Every day when nothing comes in...

    Feel the pain...

Today is 146 days since NOA1

When the 5 month hits, I intend to call VSC... then in a matter of days... I will contact my Congressman.... I believe that once Congress gets involved, the ball starts moving.....

Thank you and I will go sign up....but I won't start checking every day for a few months...I'm in no shape for that kind of stress

  19. March 29th will be 5 months after NOA1. I am, like most, wondering how some are getting their NOA2's in less than 5 months and others are in limbo? Don't have a clue what's going on? It seemed that VSC was getting the NOA2's a littler after 4 months. Now I see some folks getting their NOA2's when they got their NOA1's after me. I want to call to ask, but I am also keeping myself at bay until next Thursday when it's 5 months. Just very depressed that my application was last touched on the 3rd of November and nothing. When would it best to start calling?

    Thanks!

I echo the hang in there, I can't even get antsy for 4 more months.

How do you know when you got a "touch"? I hear people talking about this but can't find anyone saying how to find out.

  20. This page http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelicenses/a/cousin.htm

    and this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cousin_marriage

and this page http://www.cousincouples.com/?page=states state that couples cannot marry in Texas. Even if you were to marry elsewhere, USCIS will not confer marriage immigration benefits to couples who live in a state where their marriage is illegal.

Why don't you want my help?

  21. We'll my Fiancee entered the US in mid Feb and we just got married. I will send in the AOS paperwork when the marriage license comes back. My question is where cane we go for honeymoon/vacation since she can't leave the country? I don't see a problem going to Hawaii but what about Puerto Rico. I know she'd like that cause she speaks no English. Help!!

Come to Utah, she could learn to ski, see the red rock country, 5 national parks, short drive to Las Vegas, and lot's of spanish speakers!

  22. First of all, I would just like to express my personal appreciation to all of the good folks that started this website, the long time members, and new members alike, for all of the support and information on this website. I was very fortunate to discover this website even before my first visit to China to visit my finacee Lei. The information here is very valuable and the good people that take the time to share their experiences, help all of us "newbies" very much. Now it is my turn to share some thoughts :-)

I just mailed off my completed I-129F package today! After some great advise from another VJ member I waited until after my 2nd trip to China ro send my petition. My I-129F package has a total of 122 pages. Here is a summary:

    - Payment in the amount of $ 340.00 (personal check).

    - G-1145 Form

    - I-129F (hand printed, all CAPS, in black ink)

    - I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person (1 page)

    - G-325A and (2) passport style photos (Petitioner)

    - G-325A and (2) passport style photos (Beneficiary)

    - US Passport (Petitioner) - (cover-to=cover in color)

    - Letter certifying intent to marry (Petitioner and Beneficiary)

    - Proof of prior marriages legally terminated (27 pages - complete)

    - Evolution of Relationship Letter (2 pages)

    - Proof of having met in person in the past two years (36 pages total including; (19) 5 x 7 photos from my 2 trips to

China showing my Finacee, Lei, her daughter, her mother and father, etc., trip itineraries, airline boarding passes,

hotel receipts, ATM receipts, currency exchange receipts, misc. receipts)

    - Proof of ongoing relationship (16 pages of e-mails from 6/2011 - 2/2012, engagement ring receipt)

Our package is two-hole pucnhed at the top, subject tabs at the bottom. I mailed it today in a USPS Priority Mail box, via certified mail with return receipt requested.

The only thing I don;t have now is phone records because we I have been using "1 cent China" calling cards to call Lei. But now I have signed up for "flatrateonline.come" (from the advice of another member) so we have a record of our phone calls for Lei's interview. I made 1 complete replica copy and have all of the pages copied for a third copy if required.

I welcome any comments from other members :-) Here are a few of my observations about the whole process of making the package:

"Triple Check" everything! I followed this advise and found an empty box on my G-125A on my third check.

I tried "blacking out" personal information in several e-mails, but it just didn't look or "feel right" LOL. I recommend just picking several "mild" cordial e-mails to send ( if you can)

I recommend making an "I-129F Kit" at the very beginning; I bought a used ACCO (2) hole punch on eBay for $6.00 including shipping, a box of ACCO fasteners, a pack of subject tabs, black pens, yellow higlighters, etc.

During the information gather process, try to read the recent posts on this site and "gleen" information on a daily basis.

I just wanted to provide some ideas to offer help as others have helped me. One "intangible" thing about this long waiting process is that it gives you and your sweetheart time to see each other through a difficult time while separated by miles and lets the relationship grow.

Thanks everyone for listening :-) And for all of the help! Now I begin the "rest of the process" LOL :-)

WOW mine was like 20-25 pages, only 4 pages for previous marriages one for each side of 2 divorce decrees. I'm glad I don't live in your state where a divorce decree is 27 pages long! And I just sent a printout of inbox for all emails showing dates received and sent, not actual emails, and after 10 pages of texts I think they got the jist.
