  1. Ok I need to get my drivers licence ASAP and I'm worried. My EAD is on the way and as soon as I get it I will apply for SSN then I can go to DMV to get my licence. But here's my worry it says here http://www.dds.ga.gov/drivers/dldata.aspx?con=1741471757&ty=dl that I must show my passport with valid VISA or VISA Waiver, my Waiver expired Jan 15th? Will this be a problem?

It seems like this varies,i lost count how many times i went down to the dmv.so frustrating being told u need a certain thing then when u go back they still cant do it.. but in the end they checked with uscis if i was on the system..took a few days and they gave me a 6month license till my AOS was complete...if you have your reciept notice for your AOS take that too..till i had that in hand they wouldnt do anything for me here. though it still seemed to cause confusion..as they said was the wrong colour...but as i say they checked with uscis...which apperently they can get into the system once a week...true or not i dont know. hope works out for u.

  2. I just got my interview notice yesterday for 2/12, and my biometrics was 10/12, and received my EAD on 11/24. So it's a slow old process for some of us. :-( Very discouraging when you see people who filed months after you get interviews, get approved and get their GC before you even get your interview date. :-(

Congrats...hope all goes well for you.

Have our interview finally on Wednesday. This has been a long road. Wasn't expecting it to take this long.

    Congrats..!!

  3. Can you tell me what questions were asked? I am going to the same office (Denver)

our interview was here intown in grand Junction. but really was only asked 5 question....my full name...where we met. when we got married. then all she wanted to see was all documents showing us living together. we was told we was well prepared. my wife did a excelent job putting it all together for us. just have asmuch stuff as u can showing things in both names.! more the better...infact she had to stop us in the end.

  4. Hi everyone,

So we are just in the homestretch now getting everything ready for AOS. It all seems pretty straightforward but there's something we are confused about. Our lawyer said we need to have a sealed envelope with medical results for AOS submission. We don't have this-it was couriered directly to the embassy for the interview. All we have is the CD with results and vaccination records. Does anyone who has already gone through this post-visa process have any advice about this?

    Thanks friends!

Hi, im not sure what you lawyer is on about but when u went for your medical was you not given a copy of form....Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (Form DS-3025) a copy would of been forwarded to embassy as you said too, but you should of got a copy also. i was on the understanding the only thing on the CD was your chest xray..unless im wrong. I belive it should be in your packet you handed over at POE..so you should be fine, though we did scan another copy and send in with our AOS package but it certainly wasnt sealed..he might be on about form I-693 which is not needed in your case as you had your medical already. all the best.

  5. Hey Everybody

Just a quick one... I have my biometrics appointment this coming Friday and i'm just wondering what it involves and how long it normally takes. I'll be going to the Brooklyn NY office. I know that all i need to take along is my passport and the notification letter.

Thanks everybody, hope you're all having a great day today!

Hi. I had mine last wednesday. Its no hassle really. just take your passport and appointment letter. i was just given a form to fill in, just simple stuff like receipt numbers and ur A number etc. After that just had my prints and photo took. she stamped my appointment letter and said thats your receipt for coming........and that was it. good luck.

Oh and dont think i was in there more than 30mins.

  6. Are you using there guides? You may want to start here http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos and move to this other post for detailed information http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/

Yep! Definately using the guides and have seen those pages many times. I'm sorry I guess I'm overthinking it. I guess I saw someone else sent them in and questioned it....Been doing that alot.

Anyway, thanks for the response. :)

PS I still wonder about the instructions not including the marraige certificate though. I must have missed it though. lol.

  7. When in doubt, go to the USCIS instructions. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-131instr.pdf

    Page 4, step 2

    1. Photo ID (passport)

Page 4, c. Advance Parole document

1a. Your status (I-94 and K1 visa page)

Page 5, Photographs ( 2 passport style photos)

That's all I find required and all I sent. This is an I-131 application only. It has it's own requirements and not to be mixed with the I-485 requirements

Perhaps this list will help https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FIsgnb7Tfj7tcRNnqRMKUOXQdEfR6HTUDY2vX6zKqqU/mobilebasic?authkey=CNXN_oQH&pli=1

I definately understand reading the instructions but have to admit that I don't trust them completely. I swear I scoured over the I-485 instructions and didn't see any request for the marriage certificate to be sent in but surely they would want that right? For AOS from K-1?

I also want to say thanks to you cuz we have relied on your posts so much of the time to answer questions already through out the whole process.

  8. Hi everyone,

Once again coming across conflicting and old info and want to clarify something and I don't trust the instructions with the USCIS forms. (I looked and scoured and didn't find where the instructions for the I-485 said to include a copy of our marriage certificate but I'm just sure they would want that. Thats beside the point though. :hehe: )

Anyway, I am filing AOS from K-1 visa and need to know if I need to include the G325-A form with the I-765 and the I-131 as well as the I-485. Also, do I need to include one for the USC as well as the new hubby?

Any help is appreciated. Theres no way we could do this on our own with out this site!

    Thanks in advance. :)

  9. heeeeeyyyyy!!!! that is so strange that yours is being processed through the California center! is there a reason you are not filing the I765 (work authorization) with your packet? it's cheaper to do it this way (i actually do not think it costs anything when you file it with he I485) and it allows him to work sooner! but i also see he has k-1 visa so not sure if that allows him to work so nevermind. either way, congratulations!

Actually we are filing the I-765 too I just didn't have a question on it at that moment.

The CA service center is where we went through for our K-1, it might have changed for the AOS. Im not sure. So confused about everything just trying to keep my head above water. :)

  10. Hi there,

I would include the 1)Copy of birth certificate 2)Copy of entry stamp from passport (I actually think this is required as we included this but we filed I485, I130, I131, and I765 together) with your initial 1 - 5 but I would not send the additional proof of relationship. The packet ends up so big I would just hold on and not confuse them. You will most likely do an interview anyways which is where you will present that data. Just my thought!

Thanks for the help. I agree about waiting on the additional proof of relationship and saw posts to that effect here before but thought I would put it out there anyway. :)

I see you are in Denver area and from England too! Howdy neighbor!

  11. Just a quick question. I have looked at the info here on VJ and some of it is conflicting and from older posts as well. The instructions don't ask for some of this info either so I'm just trying to clarify and avoid and RFE.

Supporting docs to send with the I-131 when filing along with the I-485 (for AOS from K-1 visa. The most popular answers were:

    1)2 passport photos

    2)Copy of K-1 Visa

3)Photocopy of passport biographical details page

4)Photocopy of I-94 Arrival/Departure record (front and back)

5)Copy of Marriage Certificate dated September 15, 2012

Do I also need to include:

    1)Copy of birth certificate

2)Copy of entry stamp from passport

For the I-765 is it necessary to include a copy of the marriage certificate?

Also, for the I-485 my hubby-to-be wants to include additional proof of relationship info but it is not asked for in the instuctions. Will it cause a problem if additional info is included?

Ok so I guess theres a bit more here than indicated in the title. Sorry about that.

Thanks so much in advance. :)

  12. Sometimes I wonder if parents forget that they raised us to be our own independant people. My fiance's mum said she would miss my fiance....but would never stop her kids doing anything. Also, think they don't realize that they would rather we be happy and far away than sad and close. I think all their guilt trips and emotions are based on love and fear of losing contact. But there are so many ways to stay in contact these days in real time. It's always better in person but not impossible like it was years ago. :)

My fiance is flying to me today and his mum already has her first visit booked later this year.
