  1. That's not an option for me. There is only one place in Dominican Republic where my husband can get his medical done that is accepted. But thanks.

That is just for the physical exam, he can get his vaccinations anywhere. For example, in Paraguay the Panel Physician wanted to charge around $400 for the vaccinations but they are free at the Ministry of Health so that is where my husband got his from.

  2. I got mine at International Red Cross and it was easy and fast, more expensive but they are official and valid for international matters like visas. Just an idea! ;)

Thanks, I will look into that!

Does anybody know how long it takes the embassy to give us back the passport with the visa on it???

Depends on the Consulate, for some it's a couple days, others a couple weeks! Try asking other from Colombia.

  3. Thats great!!! Well intially when I called the doctor I was planning on making my appointment for May 1st(I know cutting it close, I have to fly to another island to have it done)! However he said that should be fine...I could pick up the results on the morning of the interview. I sat and thought about it and decided it was not worth the risk of delaying my POE if those results are'nt ready in time, so I made it a week earlier!!Now I am relaxed!

Oh wow that really would have been cutting it close! Glad you got an earlier appointment.

Oh no I hope this doesn't mess us up. My husband has no record of vaccionations either.

I don't have a record of vaccinations either. My medical appointment is for the 2nd of May and interview on the 9th, so I'm hoping that should be okay.

It shouldn't be a problem. We just had issues with the Varicella vaccine because they just got a new formula and it hasn't been approved by the Ministry of Health yet. Also, if the beneficiary had chickenpox as a child they don't even need that vaccine, they can just tell the panel physician they already had the illness.

  4. I just booked my medical as well April 25th.

Awesome! Most people don't have any problems but my husband didn't have a vaccination record and vaccinations aren't readily available here in Paraguay so we're having to travel all over the place to get them. He got 3 today and is just missing Varicella and Meningococcus but the good news is that he only has to get each one once so it won't mess up our POE plans at all.

    Good luck with everything!

  5. Congrats everyone who got interview dates in the past couple of days! My husband did his medical on Tuesday. The physical, chest x-ray and blood test are done but we are still struggling to get all the vaccinations that he needs. He never had chicken pox so he needs a varicella shot but a new brand just came out and it's still not approved by the Ministry of Health so we have to wait for that one. I'm really worried that our POE will be delayed but there's not much we can do at this point.

  6. EXACTLY 30 days after CC, finally an interview date scheduled for 17 MAY 2012 8AM...holly cow, Thought it'll EVER happen! Lisa in DOS confirmed that and was kinda surprised they didn't issue it last Friday, what ever that supposed to mean. she said they are probably busy in Casablanca and that why it took longer..Anyway, email to follow, should be getting it late afternoon. My wife is thrilled but we both overcome the excitement. On hold with NVC to re-confirm (5 minutes).

I'll let sheeshkabelle to do the honor of smillies' dances...

    Congrats!! It's about time!

  7. I just called NVC, and was informed our case closed today!

CONGRATS!! Hopefully you won't have to wait long for an interview!

    Happy Monday everyone!

**Sigh**, I am here sipping on a nice hot cup of 100% Colombian, silky coffee while I await the AOS Checklist via email...

Ahh...jealous of the coffee. You'd think being neighbors with Brazil we could get some decent coffee up in Paraguay but nope, all we got is instant. Yuck. Anyway, happy Monday :D

I woke up this morning to some good news. I had an email from SantiagoImmigration@state.gov in reply to an email I sent them last week about divorce certificates in Chile. I sent them a scanned copy of the divorce decree I sent to the NVC to confirm that it was the correct document. The NVC rejected the document last week and issued a checklist for the IV packet. Here is what the email said:

    Mr. Rogers:

Thank you for your email. You are right. The divorce decree you are sending is ok. This is how divorce decrees looks like in Chile. It is very strange as the NVC is familiar with the certificates.

We will contact the NVC to confirm that the certificate you are sending is correct.

    Sincerely,

    Immigrant visa unit

    Santiago, Chile

Hoping to get case closed for my wife today so she and my step-daughter can get their interviews scheduled in the next few days.

That's great news!! Glad it all got sorted out, way to be on top of it.

  8. Okay, so I called up NVC too. The gentleman I spoke with was very nice and told me that they are in the middle of scheduling interviews, so I should be getting a date by next week. I really, really hope that's true.

It is basically the same thing they told us, i think i will wait until monday to give them a call. I do not know how i am gonna be resistant to wait until next week to call

Keep in mind you may also receive the e-mail in the meantime. I had called last Thursday and the interview still wasn't assigned. Then I received the e-mail less than 24 hours later. Don't worry, it'll come soon!
