did my interview today in philly. was running behind because my entire household is laid low with the flu (not swine, just regular). got to callowhill with literally minutes to spare. cleared security and got to the 2nd floor, only to be told i am now going to interview on the 3rd floor. *note to all the phillyheads, do NOT EVER try the stairs!* i got antsy with the slow elevator and went for the stairs, not realizing its super secure and locks you in! someone stopped me before i ended up stuck in there. got to the 3rd floor with 2 minutes to spare. sat there for about 45 minutes. spoke to a few people waiting around... GCers, some citizenship applicants. saw some unsightly belly shirts and muffin tops (even though its freakin' cold today) and lots of jeans. i guess they were GCers. finally got called. the gentleman was sooo nice that if it were different circumstances, i'd have had him over for tea. he was professional but still kind and courteous. we talked about the weather and stuff, nothing too heavy. did the test... regrettably because my head is full of snot at the moment, i cannot recall any of the questions. we went over the form and i signed everything and i think that was it. my accordion full of originals and copies stayed neatly in my bag. he did look at my passport presumably for the stamps from when i went away a few times in the 3 years. then he congratulated me and gave me the approval sheet and that i'd be notified about the oath. all in all, it took about 10 minutes. makes me wonder why i was up half the night worrying and triple checking everything. of course, i could have gotten a different IO and we could have gone thru every piece of paper with a magnifying glass, so i'm glad i was fully prepared.

i'm dressing same as i would for a job interview -- pants, blouse w/ dark sweater over top and jacket/coat. in deference to comfort and weather [as my date is december], i'll wear flats. i wouldn't go the patriotic route... they might think you are trying too hard!

as for your baby, Ant, he'll be bundled up because of the cooler fall weather anyway so i wouldn't worry. just make sure its layers in case the office has the heat on very high. i doubt the IO will do more than glance (unless you happen to get someone who is gaga for babies). i think your hubby is fine with what he wore before.

i got my yellow letter yesterday... almost a week after my interview letter. your IL is probably due any day.

Just a little progress...today I got the "yellow letter" dated 10/22. That aside from bringing the originals, I need to bring my driver's license or state-issued identification, nothing more. Now, am I getting closer to receiving my Interview appointment? Like real soon?

One more question, do all applicants get the yellow letter? Or some got their Interview appointment right after the biometrics.

Ant, my K1 could barely be called an interview. it was a few questions w/ the officer behind the bulletproof window and they looked over everything and said to come back in the afternoon for the visa. my AOS and ROC were both transferred to another center for processing w/o interview. so i haven't had a real sit-down dress-your-best USCIS interview!

i'll call IRS today... since I am near one of their processing centers, it only takes a week to get transcripts (sometimes less). i'll still carry copies of the faxed version just because i am paranoid like that. and i'll call my bank and see about some statements. i very much doubt Comcast will send paper statements so I'll reprint those. i can do a walk-in for the certified birth certificates. even if they don't keep them, i suppose it will come in handy down the line. i guess i'll err on the side of paranoia and just do EVERYTHING under the sun.

there is no way hubby can make the interview. its a tues. morning so my bff will be at work. and my letter stressed that the waiting area has little space. i'd be way too distracted inside thinking they are out there throwing tantrums, spitting up on the floor, spilling cheerios or [gasp] diapers leaking!

just having brain overload w/ the prospect of an uscis interview. never had one before and i'll have to go alone bc hubby has to watch the kids.

the note w/ the interview letter asks for originals and copies, however... my taxes were sent by electronic fax from the irs to my email... so i printed from home. so is that really an original or do i need to order another set to come by mail? all my bills and bank statements electronic too.

also, the kids birth certs.... they say certified copies... so i don't need to bring originals? just cert. copies and photocopies of that? i sent color copies for the n400.

i just wanna get it straight in my head so i can order whatever may be needed, pack it in my handy dandy binder and just focus on the civics test till december.

ok now i don't know if the list is right or not. so i am scared to further jack it up. anyway, if its fixed (or when its fixed), can someone please add me? got my IL today (Oct 21, 09) and my Interview Date is Dec 8, 09 in philly. woot!

relieved to have a date, though a wee bit disappointed that its not November. kinda guarantees i won't get my oath and passport this year.

but oh well, its still much much MUCH faster than hubby's was a few years ago (12+ months) and no major speedbumps thus far, so i have to still give thanks. so i'll be checking out the test booklet and perfecting a flag cake recipe while making up my Christmas lists!

wow ant that was super quick! congrats! hope to join you as i got the email already but am awaiting the IL. it would be lovely to get this all done before the holidays so that i can get my passport and maybe sneak down to see my family early in the New Year.

someone must be burning the midnight oil at uscis because they sent an email at 4am this morning to let me know that the file was sent to my local office to schedule an interview.

sooooooo excited! i can almost smell my flag cake for my 'woohoo thank God its over' celebration!

now i get to sit watching the mail slot starting on monday. haha.

definitely a bright spot in my dreary day!

*note* - i've been getting emails from CRIS for about 4 years now and for the 1st time, the email went to the junk folder. i always check my junk folder but i am a bit uneasy that it went there in the first place. all my other N400 updates got to my inbox with no problems. so anyone else who may be sitting on pins and needles, maybe check your junk folder just in case.

The same thing happened to me my e-mail and text message was a 4 am. also, my email came to my junk mail. But if you read now the email is coming fron USCIS and not from CRIS, that is why it was sent to your junk mail. In a couple days you will receive the IL. Congrats!!!!!!!

Good Morning All,

I had my fingerprints done in the beginning of September in Philadelphia, PA. I've been waiting, since my fingerprints day, to receive the interview letter.

When checking my status online I still have "Request for Evidence" as current status.

I decided to take extras steps today to find out what is going on: I called the USCIS and after giving them my application number the customer service representative did not do anything else but reading his screen to tell me that they request for evidence....and so on.

I told him that the evidence the are talking about is my fingerprints which are done but unfortunately he could not say anything more.

Then I called the FBI and found out (the FBI Customer Rep was very professional and nice) that they received my fingerprints, worked on them and sent them back to USCIS the same day they received it.

I called back the USCIS with my reply from the FBI and they transferred me to a manager who nicely told me that I'm in queue for an interview and that I'll receive the letter soon.

I just wanted to share my experience in case someone is in the same situation.

thanks for posting! i'm in philly too and i did fingerprinting on the 25th.

did my biometrics today in philly. 10 minutes at best. got booklet and cd-rom study guide. now hoping for a quick interview date.

my daughter only needs to be full and dry to be happy at her age (2 mos). i make sure she eats right before we go anywhere to ensure a good start. she doesn't like pacifiers. she is more content to suck on her little fists.

my son is 1 1/2 so letting him walk around and investigate makes him happy. he likes snacks... cheerios, bananas, go-gurt, string cheese, whole grain fruit bars... things he can sit and eat without much help.

i won't make a final decision until the day of the oath. i have to make sure they are well-rested the night before because when they are tired is when the fireworks start. and of course, if its really cold and snowy/icy outside, then they will stay home.

a VJ babysitting network... hmmm...

whatever you decide, i'm sure the day will go well. i have ONE friend, just one, that i can beg to watch the babies! my other close friends are spread out around the globe and i have no family here. i need to start cultivating more pals for potential babysitting purposes! LOL.

if it was just one baby, i probably wouldn't mind hubby going and as someone mentioned, stand near an exit in case of an outburst or something. but i have TWO and that makes it a bit more challenging.

i'll bake a flag cake (or cupcakes) and we'll gorge on them after.

for the interview and oath ceremony, i will beg my best friend to watch the kids. if she is not free, i'll have to go alone, because i can't trust that they will behave. i'd rather do it alone and know they are home content, than have them sit around for countless hours in a boring place and having poor hubby try to keep them both happy and quiet. i am sure they won't care about missing the oath ceremony. if anything, we can all go for a celebratory dinner afterwards or have something nice at home.
