    AOS interview approved!, spent 15 minutes talking about solar power and ended up giving advice to the officer which company she should get solar PV installed. Then talked about Africa, travelling and tropical diseases for another 15 minutes. Then in the end, she just asked if everything in the forms is correct. Pretty relaxing experience!

      Yeah, I found maybe 5-6 jobs in my field in Hawaii.. maybe one that I can apply for. On the first day I look for job in CA, I found 60-70 engineering jobs..probably 10 that I can apply for. lol

      But we would like to retire in Hawaii :-)

      I know I am gonna miss it here though... Not many places in the world where you can just jump in the ocean right after work or drive 10 minutes and you are in the middle of a rain forest.

      Better job offers in the bay area and my wife wants to do her Phd in UCSF or Berkley. Hawaii is a nice place to live but it is very limited in terms of job market and good school. Plus we will be closer to her parents and we have a lot of friends in the bay area too :-)

    Passed my driving test!!! Wuhuu.. Just in time to start work on Thursday lol.. 3 weeks of practice with the hubby and I made it through :) very happy! (ps. I am 25 and never had a license back home in Denmark so this is huge for me lol)

      My driving test is on the 28th and I'm a little nervous. Though I have been driving here for over two months and accumulated plenty of bad habits. Just have to remember to drive nice and slow xD

    GOT A JOB OFFER! YAYYYY! so excited! It's within my field, for a British company - 5 weeks of vacation pr. year and a pretty good pay :) Couldn't be happier!

      I'm still waiting to take a road test too..There is a 2 months waiting time for scheduling a road test appointment here in Hawaii...

      I have been networking and got some contacts. My EAD should come in 2 weeks or so. Haven't been very active looking for job since my mother-in-law is here on visit and my sister is coming next week too lol.

    Got my EAD yesterday and went to the social security office today. They said it can take up to 4 weeks before I get my social security card. (I Hope not!) To get my drivers permit DMV require that I have EAD and social sec. -hurry up! :)

      They told me it can take up to two weeks for my SS card, but it came in less than a week. My driving permit also came in a week, though they said it can take up to four weeks!

      Just another bonus, Norwegian Airline will launch a new route from NY-Scandinavia next year with their new Boeing Dreamliner. A roundtrip ticket is expected to cost about $300! So if you move to NY, you'll be able to visit DK a lot cheaper :)

    EAD and AP approved! All week I have been tellingm y husband that I would get it Friday (all of our status updates from the beginning of our K1 journey has been on fridays) AND I WAS RIGHT! :) YAY

    Got my temporary driving permit today valid until the expiration date of my I-94. The lady told me to come back and renew it when I get either GC or EAD. Although, my driving (learner) permit looks exactly the same as my wife's driving license. The guy who took my photo said something about verification and went in the other room. Did they make a mistake there? Do I still have to take the road test?

      Oh yeah..government positions are a pain to apply for. My wife's position hiring process took 7-8 months to complete and she is American...More background checking and slow-moivng HR review process.

      Yes I have all my degrees, original copy from the uni. My degrees are in English, so I don't need to translate it. I have an engineering degree MSE, it's a regular 120 ETCS degree, I am pretty sure I don't need to have it transcripted. Have you started to look for a job yet?

      I see. Nope, I don't have another driving license. Just sent my AOS package last week, still waiting for NOA1. Can't wait to start working, I might be looking to volunteer in the mean time though :)

    Social Security Card arrived in the mail today! YAY!

      Great! Yeah good thing I didn't change my last name after marriage. I can see a lot of paperwork hassle. The SSN office here is pretty fast, I only waited 10 minutes in line and I got the SSN card less than a week after I went there.

    earlier today I made a post about how I wanted to know if we will have an interview or will be transfered. Just checked USCIS case status and it was updated today = AOS INTERVIEW ON SEPTEMBER 18!!! WUUHUUUU! :)
