  1. Is the naturalization test a two part process?  I hear one part is oral consisting of 10 questions to which you must get 6 of them correct.  Then there is a English test both written, oral, and read back.  Is this information correct?  My spouse is preparing for the test by studying online citizenship tests, booklets, etc.  Any help would definitely be appreciated.

  2. She can petition her father but the fiancé can't be petitioned. The father could get a green card in about a year then file for a wife which would take about 2 years based on current wait. There is no fiancé visa until you are a USC.

Thank you very much for your answer. I figured it would take quite some time. I have already told my wife to get moving on this now. My father in-law understands it will take a long time to get his fiancee over to the US. Thank you again and have a splendid day/evening!!

  3. Eddie,

I am really happy for you guys.

When my wife and I went to our interview we took our Rental Agreement, bank statements, my employee benefit statements showing that she was also on there, pictures we took from our trip to the beach, also to Minneapolis Minnesota, and her Dental bills showing paid through my work benefit. The CO did mention that if it was the interview to remove condition the things we brough would not be sufficient so she told us to keep everything in a box for the next 2 years of everything we do together. Credit card bills, rental aggreements, bank statements, lots of pictures the more the better and everything that would have history of our relationship. She let us pass because we took pictures with my family and her family at the HMONG NEW YEAR. She said that really showed our relationship. Hope that helps.

Thanks Rick for the info it will be very helpful! Glad to see you 2 are doing good:) Never been to Minneapolis but it's way too cold for us right now lol! Have a wonderful Christmas and I'll talk to ya later my friendsmile.png biggrin.png

  4. Hello Everyone:) Hope you are enjoying your holidays. My wife's interview is coming up in a few weeks. What evidence do we need to bring? I'm aware of bringing the marriage certificate/record, pictures of us together in the USA, bank accounts with both of our names on them. What else should we bring for a successful interview? Thanks in advance to all responses as they are always very helpfulsmile.png

  5. Call USCIS, you cant call the lock boxes directly. Its likely they don't have a case number yet for the package because it arrived on a Saturday. Generally takes a couple days for a case number to be assigned to the file. But call and try and explain the situation to them.

I thank you for the information. Me and my wife went to the local USCIS office this morning. The male officer said he would grant the advanced parole once we received the case number. I was hoping Chicago would have a phone number where I could call and try to expedite this matter. Looks like we will have to wait. I do thank you again for your information. Have a nice day.

  6. Hello everyone! Hope you are having a good day. I need some help/advice please. My wife's mom just passed away and she wants to go Laos for her funeral. I just sent the adjustment of status to Chicago over the weekend. It arrived on saturday but the business was closed. So, I know someone has to sign for it. My question is: Is there a number I can call in Chicago and see if they can expedite registering our AOS package? I have already went to the local USCIS office and they only need the registration number saying that the AOS package has been received and accepted. Then they will grant my wife's Advanced Parole with no problem. Does anyone here know or have access to the number at the Chicago lockbox that I can call. They will cremate her mom in the next few days (or less) and my wife wants to at least see her mom before that happens.

Also, if she leaves before getting the approval what will happen? Most likely we would have to start all over again correct? Any and all help will be more than appreciated. Thanks so much!

  7. Thanks to all for the links and the.comments. I had familiarized myself with the steps this goes through. My question is once the NVC sends the approval to the foreign embassy, is it "fairly" certain that the beneficiary will get an interview? Or at least if nothing turns up on the medical or police report. I understand that denial is always a possibility until green card is issued. Thanks again.

Once NVC looks at your file and everything is correct, the NVC will send your file to the embassy in Thailand. This usually takes at least a couple of weeks. Wait about 3 weeks and then call NVC to inquire about your file. Give them your VNT number is filed in Vermont or CSC number if filed in California. They will tell you if the file has been sent to the US embassy in Thailand. If it has been sent, you can track your file by following dhl.com and you will know when it arrives to the embassy in Thailand. Once you know it is at the embassy, contact them by phone or email and arrange an interview appointment for your fiance. She will be mailed a packet that includes instructions telling her what she needs to complete before her interview. Go to travel.state.gov and find the embassy for Thailand. Look until you find step-by-step instructions on what to do to prepare for the interview for that particular embassy. I hope this is helpful to you and yours. Good luck to the two of you and the rest of your journey.:D

  8. Woohoo congrats!!:dance::dance: May the visa interview be a smooth and easy experience. So happy for the two of you coming finally to this juncture  Travel agents are very helpful when it comes to getting a much cheaper ticket price so try them first. However, look online yourself and you may be able to beat the travel agent's price. Good websites include: cheaptickets.com, cheapOair.com, travelation.com, ebook.com, expedia.com(you can name your price sometimes and see if the website excepts your bid). Hope this helps you.....take care, have a safe flight over there, and be safe.

  9. I apologize in advance if I put this thread in the wrong place. I am leaving for Laos tomorrow to pick up my fiancee and something just hit me. Will the sealed envelope, passport and her visa be all that is needed in order to come to the USA? Is there anything I need to bring that will aid her a more secure passage? Any advice is always appreciated!:yes::D

  12. It's been 5 months since my NOA1 and still haven't heard anything from VSC. Anyone else on the same boat? Any January 2012 filers still waiting?

I found some timelines from February 2012 that were already approved at VSC. Don't they go in order they receive the file??? :(

You are getting really close  You hopefully will hear something soon. Usually takes 6 months for CR-1 applicants. It took us 6 months for our K-1 petition to be approved. However, once it is approved, be prepared to move fast. So, in the meantime, research the forums, guides here at VJ so you will know what to do next. Good luck with your visa journey :yes:

  13. I sent in my K-1 applications yesterday and it'll get to the TX lock box some time today. I'm super excited and hope that all goes well for us. Now, I'll be in the waiting process just like most of you whom are my predecessors. Thanks for the advices and help I received from yall previously and I will also be asking more questions in the near future as well. Now, it's just the "slow" waiting process and hopefully we'll be able to be together by the end of this year.."Crossing fingers" :DDD

Congratulations on starting your visa journey  I wish you the best and I hope you get your petition approved in a smooth timely fashion. If you have any questions at any time, please send me a message or the other multiples of VJers and we will be more than happy to help you. Good luck............. :D
