Last week, me and the husband found out that I'm 11 weeks pregnant, after more than 4 years of trying. Without a doubt, I would say that this is the best news we've received since we got married. But at the same time, I can't help but be worried, due to our financial situation right now. I don't know if it's right to say, but I feel like this blessing came at the wrong time. It sounds conflicting, right? Blessing at the wrong time? I have been unemployed for about 6 months now. My husband is working but doesn't have insurance. I did have insurance while I was still working as a CNA. We moved from Texas to Florida and haven't had luck finding a job since then. Now, before anyone judges me, let me tell you that I don't like mooching off other people, or the government for that matter. My husband and I have always struggled financially and have experienced worse times, such as being both laid off 2 years ago and neither of us had a job for like 3 months. But instead of filing for unemployment or food stamp, or whatever there is that the government could have aided us, we lived with the money we had been saving from our income. You might call that prideful or stupid, but that's just how we are. Right now is a different case though. There's another life we have to care about other than just ourselves. I desperately want to get the care I need as soon as I can. Because of this, I've started wondering if Medicaid can help me. If you know other ways that are at least affordable, please do share. But as for medicaid, I don't know if I'll qualify. I've been here in the US for 5 years (this year is my 5th month)but not a citizen yet.

Question to those who got their oath appointment letter already: What did your online status say before you got the letter? Did it update and tell you that a letter of appointment was sent? I'm always checking my online status to see if it has been updated.
-
Wow! I feel bad for you guys for having waited that long already. I hope nothing went wrong and we'll get our appointments soon. I'm just upset to have found out that they had an oath ceremony on Friday and I wasn't among the ones scheduled for it. That more likely means I'll have to wait months 'cause I doubt they do oath ceremonies every month.
-
I had my interview on February 22, and I still don't have an oath letter! I think they forgot about me altogether lol...
It's already past 45 days, and according to the USCIS website, you're supposed to get an appointment letter within 45 days after the interview. Did you give them a call and ask?
-
Oh wow. I looked up and found out that an oath ceremony occured on Friday in the city where I'm supposed to take mine. Now, I'm more confused why I didn't get an appointment letter when I could have joined the ceremony.

from what I gather ... nearest oath ceremony here in Tallahassee is the 4th july one.
That's not good. lol

It's been 14 days since I did my interview but upto now I still haven't received the appointment letter for the oath ceremony that the IO told me to wait for. I know the waiting time for the oath can take upto 90 days, but shouldn't have I at least received the appointment letter in the mail already? From the time you had the interview, how long did you guys wait before you got the appointment letter in the mail? I'm just worried I'll miss the ceremony because they might have mailed it already and somehow got lost, who knows?
edit: By the way, I did my interview at the Jacksonville, FL office, if that info helps.
-
DeathStrike, did the IO tell you how long you'd have to wait before the oath? I forgot to ask about that. If you're doing your oath in Tallahassee, which city are you from? The IO told me I'll do my oath in Pensacola which is even better.

Thanks Zharren. Just came back from the trip. The interview was easy breezy (it only took less than 10 minutes) and the officer was very nice. I bought everything that was listed on the checklist but was only asked for 3 things: the appointment letter, my green card, and another form of ID.

Hi all. I live in Pensacola, FL. I had my biometrics in Louisiana but will have my N400 interview in Jacksonville this Monday. I'm kinda nervous so feel free to share your experience, that would help me know what to expect.
Questions:
1. I know there's a checklist of documents to bring that came with the interview notice but I'm just curious to know what documents were only asked during your interview.
2. After the interview, how long did you wait before you did your oath? Does the Jacksonville office offer a same-day schedule for the ceremony?
3. Do you think I'll go to Jacksonville for the oath? or to Louisiana? I'm 6 hours away from Jacksonville (so that's total of 12 hrs drive).

For the tax return requirements, we filed our last 2 tax returns (2009 and 2010) online via the H&R Block software. Would the print outs be OK to submit? The tax return print outs say "copy only, do not file", so I'm wondering if USCIS will consider online print-outs of tax returns as legit.

No question is a silly or dumb question. We all have been going through this process and when the USCIS is involved it's good to be on the picky side all the time. It does not hurt.
Yes, fill everything in capital letters. I filled out the PDF document on my computer with "CAPS LOCK" on, so you do not forget
This 3 year / 5 year thing is confusing many people. You are applying based on 3 year marriage to a US citizen.
Read the question as: How many total days did you spend outside of the United States during the past 5 years (or 3 years) ?
and answer how many days you were out of the US for 3 years.
The same applies for your addresses and work information. Fill out everything based on 3 years instead of 5 years.
Best of luck!
Do you have to write down the exact dates? I mean in a month + day + year format? I can't remember some of the dates exactly. Like how is it possible to remember what exact date you moved into an apartment or the exact date you were hired at a job? And I don't wanna make up dates just to follow the mm/dd/yyyy format. Would the month + year suffice?

Thanks a lot for the clarification. One more question if you don't mind. In Part 10 B, 8 a. Have you ever been a member of or associated with any organization, association, fund foundation, party, club, society, or similar group in the United States or in any other place?
- Does this include religious organization? Should I write down my religion under "Name of Group" or should I just skip this part?
Thanks again.

Silly question, do I have to fill out the N-400 form all in CAPITAL LETTERS as the instruction says?
Part 7. Time Outside the United States.
A. How many total days did you spend outside of the United States during the past 5 years?
- Dumb question but it kinda confuses me and as paranoid as I am, I just want to make sure I type the right answer. I'm applying through a marriage-based residency. I have been here in the US since May 2007, so the past 5 years counts January 2007-April 2007 where I was still living in the Philippines. Does the "total days" spent outside the US include the days I lived in the Philippines before coming here?
-
You need the US passport to reenter the US.
or your green card if you're not a USC yet.
-
Sorry for the incomplete information. This question is actually for my sister. She has a 10-year green card but has not applied for US citizenship yet, so yes, she's still "fully" a Filipino citizen, not naturalized or on dual citizenship. Like I said her passport is still green and she's going to apply for the brown passport while in the Philippines, although it will still be in her married name because she has not reported her marriage. So I just wanted to make sure if the green passport is still valid for travel to PI as long as it's not expired.
-
I still have the green Philippine passport. It's not expired yet. Can I still use it to travel to the Philippines?
-
Thank you! The 2x2 did suffice!

Hi all! First off, I'm an old member here. My profile says I just joined today. It's cause I could not remember my password or the e-mail address I used to create my first account, so i just went ahead and registered a new one. I was under the itty_bitty display name by the way. Now, it's itsy_bitsy
Anyways, I'm renewing my passport at an outreach in Tampa on Saturday and at the same time applying for the Report of Marriage so I can renew my passport in my married name. My problem is, I can't find a place in my town that does passport photos in Philippine passport dimensions (1.77 x 1.37). This is for the photo requirement of the RoM application. I told them I need the photos in this size and they all said "We only do the standard 2x2 passport photos". Where did y'all get yours taken?

Which city is your husband going to take the oath? And what's the name of his IO? I'm just wondering if we were interviewed by the same person.
