  1. My mom had a problem with her x-rays at St. Luke's and had to do the sputum culture. The results came back clear, she got her visa and arrived to the US with my dad last month. They're staying in Wyoming with my sister right now although they may or may not move in with me here in Texas at some point.

Last week, I received a call from the health department in the county where they live. The nurse I talked to said that she was notified by the state about my mom's x-ray problem back in the Philippines and that as a state requirement, my mom needs to be tested for TB at the county health department. I explained to her what my mom had to go through as far as medical exam back in the Philippines to be able to come here. The nurse still insisted on a TB test.

Has this happened to anyone? Should my mom do the test? I mean she has already applied for her green card and will get it in the mail sooner or later, so it's not like refusing the TB test will stop her from becoming a 10-year resident, but I'd like to know how this will affect her being an immigrant. Speaking of green card, I might as well ask, how long does it typically take to arrive in the mail if it was paid for before they left the Philippines?

  2. Thank you very much Greenbaum and Hank. Yea, I wish I had read those threads before. They're pretty old, though. My mom did write her birth (first) name down on the NBI clearance application as AKA. The mistake was that she didn't write her maiden name and father's surname as well next to it.

Fortunately, we haven't purchased tickets yet, although I was really tempted to when Philippine Airlines had a pretty good deal going on last month for January-September flights.

  3. My mom had her interview on December 5 and while she was still inside US Embassy - Manila, I received an email from them that says she needs to submit an NBI A.K.A. for the name on her birth certificate. Her parents changed her name when she went to first grade but did not change what was registered. For example. she was registered as Gina and they changed it to Liza. Her NBI clearance does show "A.K.A. Gina".

What is USEM asking for? Is an NBI A.K.A. another type of clearance that you have to separately apply for? Or does my mom simply have to go back to NBI and have the information on her profile corrected?

Also in the email, USEM gave this instruction:

    WHAT TO DO NEXT:

    * SUBMISSION OF REQUIRED DOCUMENT(S): Please use the 2GO courier service to return document to the Immigrant Visa Unit. Information on the procedure may be found at http://supplychain.2go.com.ph.  This service is free of charge.

The link only takes me to the webpage of 2GO and could not find any information on the procedure. My mom said she didn't get any form or pre-paid envelope from the embassy, so we have no clue what exact address to send it to,  to whom it needs to be addressed, and how to send it free of charge. So to anyone who had to go through this, please do share your experience as far as sending the document via 2GO.

    Any help is appreciated.

Wow congratulations, thats awesome they might see them there then herheeh... appt at slec is first come first serve but they will fly to manila next week to do medical... goodluck to us almost there

I'll have them fly to Manila on the 15th. My dad is still waiting for his NBI clearance. I asked this question on a separate thread but since you're online (haha) I might as well ask you :D. Which courier did you use to send the documents to your parents?

  5. I know this question has been asked several times but the ones I could find after searching on this site were from 3-5 years ago, some even older. I would just like updated info from people who sent docs to the Philippines for their loved one's interview (2015 or more recent).

So which courier did you use? How long did it take for the documents to get there? How much did it cost you?

Thanks in advance for any reply. I'm getting the documents ready for my parents' interview and hopefully I'll be able to send them by Friday. :)

Copies are fine unless the embassy instructions letter states they require originals.  (NBI, BC and CENOMAR and such all originals)

Normally the I-864 requires an original signature.

Should I sign the new I-864 with the same date as the one I submitted to NVC (April), or with the actual date?

Follow the embassy instructions for what is required.

  8. My parents' interview at USEm is on 8/22.

Here are the documents I've gathered and will be sending to them. Please correct if a document needs to be presented in original copy at the embassy.

    ORIGINAL:

    - Passport (of both parents) + photocopy

    - 2x2 photos

    - Birth Certificate (of both parents) + photocopy

    - My birth certificate (as the petitioner)

    COPIES ONLY:

    - Appointment letter

    - DS 260 confirmation

    - I-864

    - I- 864 A

    - Transcript of 2016 tax returns + 2016 W2s (no need to submit transcripts of the 2015 and 2014 returns, correct?)

    - My passport

    - My certificate of naturalization

    - Husband's passport and birth certificate (for signing I-864 A)

    Questions:

    - Since I submitted the original AOS forms to NVC, do my parents only need to bring the photocopies at the interview? Or should I fill out and sign a new one? Same with husband's I-864 A? I know the interview letter from NVC states that these can be photocopies for as long as the signatures are not electronic, but some Filipino pre-screeners can be difficult.

    - The NVC appointment letter specifically says that  ALL civil documents submitted to NVC must be in original copy at the interview. I'm assuming this refers to just the applicants' civil documents.

    - Lastly, where and how can my parents register for a courier service?

    Thank you.

  9. Hey all,

I got an email from NVC informing me that my parents are scheduled for an interview at USEM next month. The letter did not mention anything about medical exam appointment. I don't remember anymore the process as it's been 10 years since I got approved for my own visa and had my own interview.

Who sets the appointment for medical examination at SLEC? Do my parents need to call to make the appointment or should they wait for a notice from the embassy?

Thank you for any input. :)

  10. I'm petitioning my parents and finally mailing the documents today (phew!).

First, while I obviously did the all the filling out/gathering docs for them, I'm not so sure if the docs and forms have to be sent from the Philippines since it's their application not mine, or does it matter?

Second, can somebody please confirm that below is the right address to mail the supporting and financial documents to? (Ok, I'm paranoid). Case number starts with MNL

    National Visa Center
    Attn: DR
    31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
    Portsmouth, NH  03801-2914

    Thank you!!!

I didn't sent proof of assets or bank statements. If you meet the poverty requirements you don't need to send those unless you will include those for your income.

Hi, I'm curious if you sent proof of domicile documents? I'm thinking that proof of domicile is only required for petitioners who are living outside the US. If you did, what documents did you send as proof?

separate petitions, separate i864 and i864A for each, so you don't check that they are immigrating together

your husband will put an estimated amount, what he calculates he will earn this year, it's not exact

Thank you. So do I only put "4" for household size on dad's I-864, and also "4" on mom's I-864 instead of counting both of them (making our household size 5) in each I-864?
