  1. ARE W2S RHE SAME AS TAX TRANSCRIPTS?.MY FIANCE SAID THEY ARE THE SAME AND AM NOT TOO SURE ABOUT THAT.PLEASE CHIP IN ON YOUR THOUGHTS

The person who interviewed us in Ghana told us Ghana only accepts transcripts. NVC accepted the W-2's and tax forms. So make sure you are prepared to present them during the interview. I suggest two years in hand, if they do not ask so much the better.

  2. Yes, separate AOS packets, one for each child.

Yes, one (1) AOS fee for multiple cases/petitions.

Yes, each AOS packet must have a cover sheet.

In the payment portal, click on 'Email Document Cover Sheet". I chose to email the cover sheet to three email adds, my email add , dad's & mom's.

I then logged back in the next day to see if the status has changed from "In Process" to "PAID". I clicked on "Email Receipt" to the same email adds.

Thanks again your help Is much appreciated

  3. Don't worry about this. You can have the two cases processed together once the second child's petition reached NVC. Here's how you do it. Once the second child's case have been assigned a case number & IIN, then you pay the AOS fee by Logging IN in the payment portal using one of the step children's case number & IIN. For multiple cases/petitions you are only required to pay one (1) AOS fee. You click on "Related Case" and a pop up window will appear that will show the other child's case number. You send two AOS packets ( each child will need a separate AOS packet).

I was so excited to see your response and I just re-read it. Are you saying that once child 1's package reaches NVC and we receive her case number we should complete two seperate AOS packages, one for each child, and pay the AOS fee. I think you are saying that we are only required to pay one fee for both children and one fee covers both children. I think I got it. I will be glad when we are off this visa journey. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your response my husband and I are so nervous, that the two girls will not get interview dates on the same day. I spoke to a guy at USCIS on Friday and he stated that he would put in a "file service request". He said this would put an inquiry into the second childs status. That said, I do not trust that at all. He says we should have a response by February 16th. I have to say I like and trust your way better.

  5. I have filed an 1-130 for my husband's two daughters. My husband has been here less than a year. I have been on workman's comp since May of 2012 and will be for some time. Workman's comp income is not taxed, so it does not appear on the tax forms. Our income together for 2012 line seven was $31,000. However, we have the additional 16,464 from workmans comp. Prior to this I worked 15 years for the same company and have had an income far above the poverty level. I am in graduate school still have have been unable to do my previous job due to an injury on that job. Question: Since my husband is not the citizen does his income count? Is Workmans Comp considered proper income?

  6. hey beee jaaayyyyy

so glad all that frustration ended okay and you are enjoying sweets and ice cream with your kids LOL..how AWESOME..so they will be starting school mid semester? okay well they are young right?? i bet that will be a smooth transition..

velrich or any other jamaican filers? did you guys have any problems?? ive never seen where consent is even required by the immigration officers in Jamaica let alone a special form.. just wanna make sure that is still the norm..

im taking my time right now with NVC.. just sent in the AOS paperwork and will be paying the IV bill next week.

i am banking on the kids coming in the summertime and then starting school in the fall.. hopefully the processing times stay the way theyve been going..

    good luck everyone!!!!

I have spoken to some friends who have brought kids over recently from Ghana and they are telling me the same thing. Pretty much all they are presenting are notarized documents from the other parent, receipts from school fees, and other documents proving a relationship with the child and they had no problems at the interview or getting in the US.

  7. Not really an answer to your question, but I hope our experience helps. For fiance visa, the first question is how long have you known each other and how many times have you met. In our experience we found that getting a fiance visa after knowing each other and after one visit was impossible. Ghana Embassy is very difficult to prove a relationship, it is a high fraud country. How many times have you met physically, proves to very important. That said, be prepared to show a relationship that has built over time. If you can not show that, plan a trip back befor you get to the interview stage. What we were told by the CO during our I-130 interview, these are the reasons why were not approved for the I-129F. it does not matter either way you are looking at minimum one year. "But I do not know the exact date for the CR1 visa in Ghana". This goes up and down, Ghana Embassy seems to go through periods when they have to regroup, and it goes slow, and then they speed up. It is weird.

  8. For us driving was far easier than actually getting the license. Getting the license part was horrible, the Motor Vehicle process was a mess. It seemed like we had to go back through the immigration process. His legality in this country had to be verified many times. We spent endless hours in the MVA, he had to take a drunk and sober course, the written and the road test. Each time he had to present his green card, our apartment lease, bank statements with his name, his country driver's license. Once these documents had been taken by one assigned, specific attendant they were submitted to the USCIS and we waited for hours for their approval. Someone says it is not like that in every state, but I guess since 9/11 and the massive number of illegals it has pushed the government to this. Good luck everyone.

  9. Your husband will have to provide birth certificates for each child with his name on them, he will have to show he has custody of the children ( ideally court papers but a sworn statement from the mom will work ) and a statement from the mother saying that she is ok with the children immigrating to the US.

Thanks for your swift response. These sworn documents, are you aware if they will be needed for the NVC or just to present at the Embassy?

  10. Does anyone know what custody documents my husband will need to provide and when for his daughters?

I know traditionally in Ghana who has custody of the kids is different than what may be expected at the embassy or at entry.

    Background:

1 I (wife) am the US citizen the kids are my step kids in Ghana.

    2. My husband came to the US just under a year ago.

    3. We have applied for and been approved for the I-130.

We are working on the next steps. Wanna start working on the official required documents for presentation to the NVC and for interview. Any insights or experiencs would be great. Thanks

  11. Hello family,

After completing theI-130 process, with all the help I found here, I successful in bringing my husband to the US. I am now working on bringing his kids. We submitted the I-130 for the kids on November 16th and today we got an email that it has been approved and NOA 2 is on the way. However, only for one child, I am assuming since today is Saturday they just have not updated for the second child.

Whew, that hurdle jumped. However I am freaking out a bit because I forgot what is next. With my husband, I moved one step ahead of the process and was able to get the interview rather quickly. Now I am drawing a blank. I need to call on help from you nice people again. I am seriously having a panic attack. Someone please direct me to the next steps.

Yipee, from NOA 1 to NOA 2 in 69 days and are they working on Saturday? Good for them.

  12. My case was for my husband and I get K-1 and the other issues mixed up. I did apply for fiancée visa first so some of my experience may still help. Some of this still may be appropriate.

    1. My husband never received anything in the mail in Ghana. I did get an email and a letter from the NVC and USCIS regarding appointments. Make sure you establish an email address.

    2. For me, I sent everything to the NVC from the US and it was at the embassy when I arrived. We paid for everything, I sent the original police certificate, birth certificate evertthing also, we just had to show up with additional evidence to present to the CO including tax transcripts (transcripts are the only thing that are accepted) order them now. IRS.gov I am told now that was very dangerous because they can lose your stuff, I guess I was lucky.

    3. Medicals and police report should be done close to the interview date. I think the police report expires in 30 days and the medicals expire also not sure of when. Make sure when you pick up the police report you check the name and it matches the birth certificate. Very important they make mistakes all the time on the name and the Embassy will not take it. My husband had to have his birth certificate redone because his was recorded with the repeated last name.

    4. 10 years is a long time most will need to be updated. Yellow fever expires in 10 years and most are annuals anyway.

    5. Not sure if the type of visa matters for entry during the interview. I did attend the interview, I took my passport and had no problem. I recommend going and even if they do not let the petitioner in, the beneficiary should take in the petitioner's passport to prove they are their. It makes an impact.

    6. As far as an expedited interview, I say try it. Many have expedited their interviews. Write to the NVC and USCIS and explain the situation. It will only cost you a stamp. This is my opinion others may have a different view.

    Good luck!

  13. That sounds like the experiences I had. I beleive not going to the interview in Ghana as the petitioner is a big risk. Someone asked if they should go the other day and I suggested that he go, other said they had no problem. But from what I saw it is very imporatant to be there, it sends a big signal to the CO. I also beleive having a lot of well orginized pertinent (and some probably not as pertinent) documents are also necessary. Nothing is filler, take it all. I also had no problem getting in with my passport, I am not sure why some do and some do not.

Anyway Congratulations. Finding this site was the best thing that happend to me other than meeting my huband. This site saved me a couple of thousand dollars on a lawyer.

  14. They will never change until we make them change. Find your Congressman and write a well worded brief letter. I beleive if they get enough of them they have to at least look into what is going on. We keep making excuses for them we deserve better and we will never receive it until we demand it. Ghana is a major player in America securing some rights in Africa. Do not forget the oil. Do you think Bush gave money to build the road and Obama is making telephone calls to your president and states are investing in the Ghana because they like the climate. It is about money. We have more power than we think, however we act like beggers. Write to your President so the next time they are talking on the phone let him say to Obama "by the way I got this ton of letter regarding your Embassy you might want to look into that". Who knows, but what we do know is doing nothing gets us 5 weeks of waiting only to come to be sent home with nothing.

  15. I am sure people have been approved without their partner going to the interview, however, Ghana is a high fraud area requires a lot of proof. My recommendation is that if you can go, GO. I watched how the CO's treated people at the Embassy. They are rude and move people here, move them there with little respect. When they see the petitioner they seem to have more respect. During our interview the lady interviewed us both and she said "I can SEE that you two know each other well and have spent a lot of time together". They look for that interaction between the couple. I had so many pictures and proof of relationship, she was not going to look through all that stuff (which was my plan) It helps, particularly if you have other red flags, like we did, our age difference is a big red flag. Make sure you have everything especially tax transcripts, tax returns will not work at the Embassy. Also, have every thing in order and present well, they are not patient while you serch through documents. Use the other recommendations here and read throught the Embassy reviews of others. Good Luck!

  16. I must have just had dumb luck. I did not wait to pick up anything from the Embassy. I printed the forms from here and once I was approved and my stuff was sent to NVC. I paid and mailed everything to NVC. When my interview letter came it noted that everything was paid and submitted when I got to the interview, I did not need anything but tax transcripts. That obviously is not the common procedure, thank God for divine intervention. I understand I took a huge risk sending in originals to NVC and then having them forward them to the Embassy, however it worked for me, and it seemed to knock some time off waiting for them to mail me a form that I can find here and submit.

  17. I don't have too much evidence but according to the ICE officer, what I have is good. When they offered money I just responded that they were crazy. That this wasn't about money it was love and a future together. And then right at the end of the conversation with ICE, she says, oh yea, don't be surprised if you're offered money. Then I explained that I was and she documented that. I feel so foolish ;(

Do not feel foolish. You went in with good intentions and you loved him. If he did not return the love then he is the fool. Tennyson wrote: "Tis better to have loved and lost / Than never to have loved at all." I know it sounds like ####### now but one day you will see him as someone you used to know. You have many people here praying for you including me. Be blessed.
