  1. As a norm, it shouldn't (and it won't) in terms of the petition approval; however I believethat at the Interview stage, it will play against you, in Haiti specifically....but I'm not 100% positive.

I'm sure other folks going through the Haiti Embassy will be able to give you more specific advice, but if you haven't done so, I suggest that you read the Embassy reviews for clues http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Haiti&cty=&dfilter=5

On the Caribbean part of this forum, there's this post for Haiti Filers http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/337761-haiti-filers/ and I'm sure someone there can guide you.

Thanks for your input. I am really really concern because it's been a long wait putting both petitions together. I was leading towards what you said regarding the petition approval vs the approval during the interview. I hope others give me their input as well, as you mentioned. Thanks again.

  2. Hi Everyone!

My husband and I have been on the same road as you. We started our fiancé visa process in May 2009, he arrived in the US for Christmas 2009 and we married 2 months later. We've been married for 2 wonderful years and are in the process of removing the conditions on his status. It's been a very smooth and expedient process. We'd love to help any of you if we can, as well as to hear your stories. Blessings on your roads to happiness with your future spouses. :)

    Congratulations.

  3. Hy everyone. I don't know if it's the right place but I woke up this morning with a big concern. This is our second time filling the I-129F petition. We got denied the first time because we didn't meet each other within the 2 years prior or 5 years prior filing (if I can just add that) because I have been in school and we both didn't have the financial means. And we have known each other for more than 10 years. We've been close friends and we have been seeing each other regularly before I came to the US permanently.

The first petition was in January 2011. We met each other in July 2011 and decided to file again in February 2012. And we haven't met each other since.

My question is Wil this have an impact on the decision they will make the day of the interview? We would do practically anything we can to save our relationship and be finally together forever and we are really trying to see the long wait positively.

But Has this happen to anyone else and Did you still get an approval?

Please let me know, guys, either based what you've personally experienced, heard, or just think. I would greatly appreciate your input.

  4. What i did is sent pictures from since we have met and seen each other and included more pictures of us and proof of relationship within the last 2 years as asked by USCIS.

This is what I did as well. If they want more than that (like official documents of engagement), I don't have it either because it was more like a ceremony involving family and friends. Good luck in the rest of your journey. Send them everything ASAP to pevent delays

  5. There are several posts/embassy reviews for India where couples were denied because their engagement party looked too much like a wedding and the CO said that they were married.

Look carefully at your proof and make sure your not including items that would go overboard and make someone think you are married. You may want to include notarized letters from attendees attesting to your engagement. This may have been overboard, but I provided Save the Season (as we didn't know the date) cards and a letter stating where we intend to marry and who we intend to invite and their contact information. I also included with our packet 4 pictures of my wedding shower.

    Good luck!

I like the idea of submitting a "save the season" and a list of invitees additional proofs. It sounds like a good idea. I'm considering doing so as well. Thanks for sharing Bec_Dipu ;)

  6. We were denied for our first try, and are having another go. Any tips - has anyone done this before? We have amended what we believe to be the problem and hopefully it will solve all issues raised/reasons for denial from the previous application.

This is my second time applying. I am still waiting for NOA2 though. I hope it will work this time since I do meet all the requirements now. Good luck ;)

  7. I strongly believe that they are now doing a lot from December and that the January application may have been an expedited application or an exception. However, I am starting to be excited that it is nearby for February applicants (like me) because my fiancé and I just can't wait anymore. And it's not even our first time dealing with that so it seems as if it's been forever that we are after USCIS. I'll now stop wasting my time calling them and just hope for the best, an approval in June/July if not earlier. So good luck to all of us :whistle:

  8. Thanks Mochamich for letting me know about this forum. As far as ways to keep in touch with my fiancé, I use Yahoo webcam, Digicel recharges online or he recharges his phone himself and Myhaitimobile. I have started using myhaitimobile since when it started and although many were complaining about the quality of calls and customer service, it was fine for me until recently. They sometimes don't answer the phone calls, or they just hang up on you or they don't even understand what you're trying to tell them or you can't understand them because they are from India and the list goes on... One representative was even trying to "holla" at me and told me to tell my friends to leave Myhaitimobile and that he is working for them because he needs money to care for his 5 sisters and many other things. I don't know if I'll stay with them but the price is obviously really good - $40 monthly for "unlimited" calls - compared to how much I used to pay personally before but again my fiancé in Haiti tries to reach me so many times before we actually get in touch, the signal is horrible in most places (they use Haitel which is really not a good company in Haiti when it comes to signal), and the calls do drop at a certain time. It is a matter of personal choice ... ;)
