I had my N-400 interview today at the local office in Santa Ana, CA. The interview went really well and I passed. I was advised that in about 4 weeks’ time I will receive a letter regarding the when and where the oath ceremony will be held.

Here is my experience:

My interview was scheduled at 7:50am. I arrived about 7:10am. I was advised that no cell phone with camera is allowed inside. So I had to go back to my car to drop off my phone. After the security check, I went up to second floor, where there is a waiting room. I dropped off the appointment letter at the window and took a seat as advised. I was called in around 7:40am. The officer first requested my green card and driver license to make a copy. Then he started going through my N-400 form and confirming the information I filled out with me.

For my civic history test, here are the questions that I can still remember:

1. When was the Declaration of Independence adopted

2. Name one of the longest rivers in US

3. Who is the speaker of the house

4. How many years do we elect a president for

5. Who lived here before the Europeans came to America

Reading and writing test sentences are all about President Lincoln and the civil was.

After the test, he started going through the supporting documents that I provided as proofs of my marriage. He didn’t ask for the originals of any of the documents. When he saw the Grand deed of our home and the credit card bill, he said, “You guys go to Low’s a lot. That’s a proof of true marriage.”

After he finished browsing the supporting documents, he said, “Now I will prepare the congratulation paper for you.” Yeah!!!

The whole interview lasted for only 10 minutes. The officer was very nice and the whole experience was very pleasant.

I remember your case quite vividly. We both sent our 751 to Cali and received biometrics, but we never got the one year extension. I just did an infopass to get the 551 stamp in my passport. I met a new lady at USCIS office, who did not ask for my greencard. She just stamped my passport immediately. I saw the other officer in the backgroud, who wanted to take my cond. greencard when I came for the 551 stamp last December.

Hello Dappant,

I went to my INFO pass on 1/2/09 and got a I-551 stamp on my passport with no problem. The officer did ask me why I need the stamp now since my conditional greencard is still valid until 3/2/09. I told her that I need to renew my driver lisence and travel internationally during the I-751 petition pending period. She didn't mention anything about releasing the conditional greencard.

With the I-551 stamp, my status is extended for 1 year, starting from the issued date (1/2/09), instead of the date the conditional greencard expires.

Hello Dara, thanks for sharing your experience. I guess I will just wait a little longer, say, after my Bio Appointment. If there is still no extension letter, I will make an info pass, requesting the stamp on my passport.

I sent out my I-751 package on 12/6/08. The USPS delivery confirmation showed that it was delivered on 12/8/08.

I got my Bio Appoitment letter today, dated 12/15/08. But I haven't got the letter regarding the 1-year extension of my status.

I'm so confused. Who else is in the same situation? What to do next?

I'm on the CSC transferee list but i've been waiting for more than 6 months since i filed the I485. yesterday i finally got a service request done on my case. I know some of you guys also did service request. This service request does give me some hope. I was told within 45 days i would have an answer. but i'm curious that how long it took those who did the request here to get a reply. is that request number important?

Here is my EAD status :

"Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On October 23, 2006, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service."

I already got my card a while ago. but today my case was touch again. and I never got any approval notice of my EAD. I'm wondering if any one has received such an approval notice.
