"On May 23, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*. We will mail you an interview notice. "

That is what is written on the letter. It's been two weeks and I am worried their letter is lost on the mail again.

Wait until Wednesday/Thursday. In case you don't get it, call the USCIS customer service and ask for your interview date/time and ask for alternative ways (Infopass appointment or fax) to get your notice.

If it's 3 year rule (via marriage) then never mind if it is 5 year rule then read this thread. Because you have applied earlier than your GC anniversary date.

You can apply up to 90 days earlier from your 5th year anniversary as long as you keep the other conditions. That said, if you are applying 5 year rule, you can file 4 years and 9 months after your gc is issued. It is 2 years and 9 months for 3 year rule. As FYI, USCIS has early filing calculator:

Good luck to you . It seems that your status was updated to in line for interview within a week after the fingerprints.

A friend of mine who applied a month before me at same office tells me just recently was changed to in line for interview. It might be that the office here might be busy as I am not sure why some get this in line for interview within a week and others takes longer even months. Not sure if the delay has to do with fingerprints clearance vs local office , or both. Anyway I don't think it matters much .

It is application specific. It is delayed due to background check namely fingerprint and name check. FBI completes fingerprint check within 2-4 days. Name check usually delays applications. My application was put inline 6 weeks after fingerprints taken. According to FBI's website, they complete 90% of name checks within 90 days. Give it a few more weeks. Good luck.

i hope someone can i answer my question. Can i still chamge my state where I can have my interview? I'm planning to go to my husband's state and let my in laws meet my little one before I go back to my husband in kuwait? I'm here in Nevada now, and my status is in line for interview and I want to go to South Carolina. Thank you .

Since you already filed your application and you are in line for the interview, you can do that. But this cause to change your field office which will delay your application for a few months. If you decide to do so, it is better to confirm with USCIS before making your final decision and change your address. And it is better confirm with face to face by making an infopass appointment.

Yes, it say as of 2/5/2016, so 2 days after our biometrics appointment. I am kind of surprised no one else has been updated yet, but could be they have not checked there status since they do not send you an electronic notification when it updates

Indeed Seattle's office is frustratingly slow! I am debating whether to travel overseas for 3 or 4 weeks while my application is lying on the shelf, as I guess that will be for months.

What was it like for walk-in? Could you give me a quick rundown? Did they not have an issue with you not coming on your assigned date? I remember for my ROC biometrics they verified I had the appointment that day. Are there certain days they aren't available or are Monday through Friday all equally available for walk-in? I just want to be positive I won't be turned away because it's over an hour drive there, and I have to get a babysitter for my 2 year old and/or drag my nursing 6 month old along there and back as well.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry for early walk-in. It would just advance your application for 5-10 days. They usually do not turn away walk-in applicants. However, there is always a risk. Also, some offices make walk-in applicants wait until all scheduled applicants are done with fingerprints. This wasn't the case for my office last week though.

Unlike I-485, N-400 applications rarely get stuck on the process. On I-485, application pauses and USCIS asks a RFE if they need additional evidence. They resume the processing as soon as they receive that evidence. On N-400, process continues until the interview and they ask the missing/additional evidence on the interview letter.
