  1. NBI CLEARANCE: Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, "No pending criminal case” or “With derogatory record.” For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

  3. Hi Hotgun,

Yes the remark is NO RECORD ON FILE.

NBI STORY: I got hit and they told me to go back after 10 days. When I get back, I was called and interview by an NBI officer (Cebu Branch) and told me about this woman with the same name as me of course he asked me if I'm this woman, I said of course not why would I get an NBI if I know I'm wanted!

So for them to issue my NBI they told me they need a letter from Manila RTC - they gave me the case number and branch number where I can go to request for that clearance and they say if I have relatives in Manila they I can asked to get it from me. Yes I do, but I decided to just go to Manila to get this (I was born in Manila and we got a house there as well) , I presented them my Authenticated NSO Birth Certificate, my passport and my postal ID, and they gave me the letter. We got the same name but different middle name. So it took me almost a month to get my NBI.

Went back to Cebu (currently living there)and I presented them the letter and they issued my NBI.

I know you guys will asked me why not get it in Manila? I was thinking since I waited already might as well just go back to Cebu Branch. All my documents used my address in Cebu (passport, id, and our petition).

  4. Still no visa. I think they are conducting background check due to my namesake (NBI HIT), same name and wanted for drug possession. Sucks. I'm hoping to have it next week. I should have attached a copy of the clearance letter from Manila RTC if I know this would be an issue. My husband will call them again later. I will update you guys. Thanks for the concern.

    Praying.....

  5. Hi Guys,

This is the update about my visa.

My husband called today 3 PM Philippine time as suggested by 020871(thanks again for the tip).

He was able to talked to a lady operator.

My husband asked about our visa, why its taking so long since we are expecting the visa to be here this month of September and if there's any problem with our papers and visa issuance.

The operator told him that there is no notation of any problem in our visa and the status is in-process and we will receive it within 10 - 30 days.

    Should I be more worried?

Today is our 12th day since the interview (minus the two days with typhoon). I'm just hoping that my visa will arrived soon and the plane tickets will not be too expensive, my husband will pick me up and stay for 14 days then we will fly together.

  6. Hi Smirky,

We have the same situation. I remember the CO also told me Welcome to United States of America as well after saying Congratulation, your visa is approved!.

Then on the 7th day I emailed about my visa and received the same thing..."The case is currently under review by a consular officer. Once the review is completed, we will notify you." So I called the embassy and they told me the visa is approved for issuance but the CO still reviewing it and there is no note why.

I was interviewed on Sept. 12 by the way.

  7. Anyway just for a side note, the filipina (my initial interview) got a more questions than the american woman who interviewed me probably 5-6, she asked me about the university where I graduated college, seems like we have the same ALMA MATER since she's more curious on my degree and I was asked if I was able to practice my profession which I answered YES. It was pretty smooth interview. Both of them asked for pictures and both complimented my wedding gown. Just like Tahoma said, they're probably doing some background checks, seems like a normal procedure in USEM.

Thanks Lorie, I will definitely send you a message if I need help. :)

  8. Hi Mrs. Salome,

Maybe the reason why you don't have yet your visa is,they are still waiting for you to submit the requested paperwork. You supposed to comply as soon as possible.if you are really approved that time, they supposed to give you a paperwork telling that you still need to go back inside the embassy and submit it to the last window besides the windows where you got your biometrics in the first place

There is no requested documents or any paper work. The last interview with the american woman she congratulated me and said that my visa was approved. I was called in windows 73 and gave me my appointment letter with stub number and told me to go to window 69 for 2go delivery. After that the woman in windows 69 said you can go now mam and take your lunch.

  9. Hi Mrs.Salome,

i just wanna add some ideas about CEMAR and CENOMAR...CEMAR ,your certificate of marriage(marriage contract) and the CENOMAR is for those who applied single status only(certificate of no marriage).about the VISA,i got it 2weeks after my interview.Your medical exam result from St.Lukes will be forwarded to US embassy before your interview. That's why there's no reason to review your documents in the embassy if the interviewer told you that you was been approved unless you will comply on the document that they want you to submit(missing doc.like your CEMAR).

i will ask you this one:did you have a copy of your marriage contract from NSO that you submitted in the embassy together with your other docs?..if you have all those, there's no reason why you dont have your visa packet.me,when i was interviewed, the interviewer told me that i was approved but i have to present my NBI with a.k.a on it because i had an annullment there.so i didn't took a long time to comply.i have to submit it right away to have my visa packet delivered soon..

I hope that these ideas can help you.wishing you goodluck

    Lorie and Doug

    Hi Lorie,

I have all the copies of the ALL documents that we submitted to USCIS and NVC. I also have it ALL with me during my interview and other supporting documents like financial support, emails, chat logs, pictures and such. But they only asked for my CENOMAR (CEMAR for me cause I'm married), and I gave it to the Filipina Lady on my initial interview.

Like I said I was told that my visa was approved and was never asked for any additional documents when I was called at windows 73, they just gave me back the copy of my appointment letter with attached stub number. Then last was in window 69 where I confirmed that I want my visa to be pick up in one of their branch near my place. That's why I was surprised with the case pending for review status when I called the embassy.

My NBI has no complication in terms of aliases, I was never married before but it took me 3 weeks to get my NBI because I got hit with same name with a criminal case and also wanted for drug possession that I need to request a clearance letter from Manila RTC proving that we are not the same person, so my NBI will be release. My NBI remark is No Record on File! My NBI name format is like this (Maiden Name, Married Name, First Name, Mother's Maiden Name.

I'm hoping I will receive my visa this week. Praying....

  10. I think it has something to do with my medical cause I had my medical in advanced around June and my interview is September. I passed the medical anyway. So I think they are still waiting for St. Luke. I'm not sure but thats the only thing I can think of since we dont really have any complication or problem with our papers. The interview really went well and no additional documents was asked besides from my CEMAR.

My husband mother passed away around end of June that's why we were able to file our papers in NVC by first week of July and was completed before the end of the same month, that's why we have a September interview.

I remember that my number was called in windows 43 asking if St. Luke gave me an envelope. I said no, they probably thought I undergone sputum test. I shown my passport with the sticker and stamp from St. Luke. Then the lady said to just go back to my seat. And it took 2 hours before my number was called for biometrics.

It is 3 months now since my medical.

My question guys is this: My medical will expire on Dec. What will happen if my visa arrived and my medical is expired?

  11. Is CEMAR and marriage certificate is the same? I also got cenomar in case they asked for it..

it is not the same. If you are married then they will issue a cemar not cenomar.

You were approved and you will get your visa, but the Embassy first wants to review something regarding your case. Hang in there.

    Thanks Tahoma.
