I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, as I swore I read it years ago, but I want to double check.
I used to be on here a lot 14 or so years ago, as my UK husband was going to move here to the US to marry me. He did, and we were happy. But his drinking, which I thought was cultural at first, started to get heavier. He's been a full blown alcoholic the last years, and has never put serious effort into helping himself or fixing the underlying causes. As with most alcoholics, he's snowballed and gotten way worse over time. Things have happened recently that have made it clear I have to leave before he destroys my life anymore, and I'm starting a divorce soon.
Ironically, his greencard expires in February, 2026, and would need to be renewed in August. We didn't go for citizenship due to DUIs he collected in recent years. Yes, he's in bad shape.
The greencard is NOT being renewed, and he'll be going home by the start of next year after several matters are settled. From what I've read in the past, I don't need to tell the USCIS that he's leaving, he just leaves. Is this correct? I want to be sure not for his benefit, but for mine.
