  1. Hi VJers,

I'm all ready to send out my AOS application to USCIS, however I want the E-notification to go with it but i can't seem to get this form to come up. I've updated my abode reader yet it still says I need a later version.

there's the link. Has anyone experienced this problem too?

  2. Hello vjers,

I have a couple of questions,

I've been married for over a month now and have not filed for my AOS yet due some issues regarding our co-sponsor (which has been resolved.) We will be sending out the AOS application on Monday next week. My i-94 expires in March 10th, that's not this saturday but the next Saturday. Is it too late for me to apply? All I knew was that we had to be married within 90 days of Entry, which we've done.

Also, where do we send out the application to? The Vermont office? (We're in Greenwich CT) or do we send this out to another office? As for the fee's, to whom is it made out to and do we make a check out to the full amount of all the forms submitted.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  3. Depending on your location, if there are any upcoming Canadian or American Holidays occurring after your interview date. But usually it's within a week to 2 weeks. I wouldn't wait any longer than that.

  4. You know, I think you can check out your T4E slip on your "My Service Canada Account", I just did, and it was all there. All the stuff I needed to know to file for my taxes. I spoke with an agent today and he advised that yesterday (Last day of Feb) was their deadline to have all T4E submitted and sent out. However, all you have to do is log on to your My Service Account. If you have never registered you should do so, you can access all sorts of stuff from your EI report to tax slips etc. I hope this is help for you.

Here's a quick link to the log in page.

  5. Hi All,

Doing out AOS now and on the I-684, Part 5, Question 21 they ask for household size. Since we put "1" in the first box then 1 for the sponsor, we have 2. But then it says if married list your spouse. Since we are now married, checking that box is counting her person twice. Making the household size three. It says not to count anyone twice.

Does anyone know if we should leave the spouse box a "0" or make it "1" and total "3"? That part is very confusing.

Also is there any other evidence beside the tax return that needs to be submitted with the form, such as letter from employer etc..?

    Thank you all.

  6. Hello again,

I'm filing my AOS now, and I'm coming across a lot of questions where I have to input my name "Family Name" to be specific. I am married now and have a new last name. Do I still input my maiden name since it's on my i-94 and all previous documents filed prior to POE, or do I put my new last name on the documents for AOS, i.e; Biometrics, permanent residence application form etc.

    Thanks in advance!

    Minu.

  7. Hi Vjers,

I already got married on January 27th (Yay!), now we are starting to file for our papers. My K-1 visa expires in late March, so we have to do this quickly.

I'm trying to apply for my SSN, I came across this one question that asks what my status in the U.S. is; "Legal Alien Not Allowed To Work" or "Legal Alien Allowed To Work" or "Other". Which one do I choose?

I haven't applied for my EAD so I'm technically not allowed to work, but I'm going to be applying for my AOS. I think I know what my answer is but I wanna make sure I'm correct. Also, which important documents should I send the SS office, and can I send them a photocopy of my marriage certificate since I only have one original copy which I have to send with my AOS application.

I appreciate your help, thanks in advance!

    Minu.

  8. Hello VJ-ers!

I'm finally in the US, I've been here for a month now. Enjoying my time off, to the point of pure boredom! I would really like to get start in working soon. Which leads me to my question.

When I crossed the border, the officer had given me a EAD form to fill out. I thought I couldn't even apply for EAD until I got married, is this correct? (P.S. I plan to get married on the 27th of January ...YAAAAYYYY!)

Also, I know there was a thread about what to do after you moved the states. Could someone give me the link to that post. I would like to know which steps to take after I have migrated to the U.S.

Thanks again guys. And Happy New Year! Hope you all had a great new year celebration!

  9. 1-877-486-1650 I think you have to leave a message with you name and number

I actually called that number on the 15th and left a message with my phone number and SIN, they haven't called me back. Does any one know how long they take to get back to you?

  10. Most people are ignorant towards these things. My Fiance thought that if we just got married, I could come and live with him in the states. I knew that wasn't the case because I've been an immigrant all my life. Moving from Colombia to Canada and now in the states. But I really hope everything turns out to your favor and quickly for you and your family's sake. Good luck

  11. Oh that really sucks, sorry hear about your wedding. Yeah we too wanted to be married by September but didn't happen so we never went that far to plan anything.

My fiance will be coming up the night before I leave so we can put some stuff in his car too. I like being in the car with him but the drive with him in his own car is just fun. When the roads are clear we always drive up next each other and make funny faces at each other. lol

2.5 hours, Luckyyyy. Jesus I thought we were fortunate to be close but thats even closer. Anyway, good luck with the move, be careful on the roads!

I'm off to pick up my Visa!!! Wooohooo!

  12. Going from Kingston ON to Greenwich CT about 6.5 hour drive. It's not that bad actually. Driving by yourself for 6.5 hours sucks though.

And yeah, I live in a studio apartment, so I barely have any furniture, I've already sold my bed. If there is anything I have to leave behind I can leave with my mom and pick it up some other time I go visit. I gotta do some major packing this weekend, that's for sure.

    Where are you heading to?

  13. I probably could or should leave later but I figure most of the stuff I need to get done can be done over the phone or email. I don't have many other ties beside my student debt. and that;s something I'll be paying off for the rest of life. Also, I have to drive through Watertown and Syracuse, and they're notorious for having huge snow storms. I would like to avoid that.

  14. I got a call at 7 AM this morning, It's ready to be picked up ! ... They close at 9 am and I was just getting up from bed. They open up again at 4 PM to 6 PM. Going right after work. I'm so anxious to get the hell out of here to get it! lol.

    Yeah I'm at work. >_>...

    <_<(sneaky eyes)

  15. Got my email from Loomis Express they picked up my passport from the Consulate YAAAY! looked up the waybill it says shipment not found :( Whyyyyyyy!

Maybe tomorrow it'll change. I can't imagine it taking longer than two days. I live three hours away from Montreal.

  16. I always reference the Montreal Guide that sticky'd on the front of the Canada forum. It has allot of info.

DOS number is: 1-202-663-1225 and to get to a visa specialist, it’s 1 and then 0. This operator will want your MTL # and sometimes both the names and dates of birth for both petitioner and beneficiary.

Ask them if your visa has been printed. Keep in mind that, that's pretty much all the can tell you, they won't know anything else. But it's good to know that your visa has been printed off, at least.
