That depends on the country/embassy. Check the country's statistics on here

hi
not necessarily, he can file without your mom if his income alone meets the requirements
on the i864 he will fill out his individual income, and the proof will be his W2s and they will be able to know what part of the taxes filed is his individual income
your mom will only file the i864A is if they need to combine their individual incomes
Oh i See. I'm sure my dad's income alone is enough. My mom's isnt much so it doesnt really influence.
-
Thanks but I understood my mom would also have to fill out an I-864a in order to show that she is a household member? Is this correct? The transcript shows combined income of mom and dad (assuming mom also has income) so you would need to show only dad's income for the I-864. Their tax returns will show the individual income. Copies of dad's W2's will show just his income.

My dad is our co sponsor. He files taxes jointly with my mom. He just sent me transcripts from IRS for the last 3 years like I requested. Do I still need need to ask for his W2's??? I really hope not
the NVC guide on here doesnt specify, only says they are needed if it were tax returns. Has anyone gotten a checklist for not providing?

Yes no enlish translation required. I have talked to a large number of brazilian spoues and they all submitted in portuguese. No checklist was issued.

Hello all.
It seems that the more we advance, more problems come up.
I'm the petitioner, my husband is the beneficiary. We are together in Brazil.
When you get married in Brazil, the marriage certificate acts both as a marriage AND birth certificate. We have been married for 3 1/2 years. The place that issued the marriage certificate (kinda like a city hall) made a mistake and switched his city of birth with the city he was REGISTERED at. Both cities are in the same state. Given that correcting legal mistakes like that are a nightmare here, we left it at that. (At times it requires a lawyer etc)
So, for the I-130 packet i had to type the info like it Is in the marriage certificate. Same thing for his passport.
Now, for the IV packet they are requesting birth certificate (we have a copy) and marriage certificate. I highly doubt anyone at NVC is able to understand portuguese and see that city of birth on the birth certificate and the marriage certificate are different. Or am I underestimating them? Do you think this will cause a checklist??
I mean ether way, BOTH city of Birth AND city where he was registered are mentioned in the birth certificate. If it were to slide at NVC but come up during the interview, do y'all think it will be an issue?? Its not like its his name thats incorrect or anything. Is this something worth overracting?
Reason why I'm asking is because I dont know if we should go ahead and correct the marriage certificate ANDDD get another passport again because then the information wont match with what we sent to USCIS.
Any advice is appreciated.

Sometimes they need extra proof of bonafide marriage. Joint bank account statements etc etc. we got an RFE and it took forever to receive because it kept getting lost in the mail. When it finally arrived, all it said was asking for a copy of our marriage certificate in the original language of the country, not just the english translation that I had submitted.

Tax returns are fine but should include all supporting docs.
What kind of supporting docs? Are you referring to W2's?? Pay stubs??
If so, how many pay stubs? For the whole year??
Question 1: My dad is a joint sponsor and does married filing jointly with my mom with their taxes. My dad filled out I864 and my mom filled out I864a to attach to his joint sponsor form. She is a household member of a sponsor (in this case, my dad). Good to use to prove they are both aware of the sponsorship, especially if they are married filing jointly.
Thanks. How many tax returns did they use??
-
I am petitioning for my husband. I'm getting AOS and IV packets ready. My dad will be our joint sponsor but he files taxes jointly with my mom. My question is, do they BOTH have to fill out an I-864 form?? EACH?
Question #2
Who here has had their joint sponsor send just tax returns?? NOT transcripts and have had success?? I would like to mail everything out this weekend and didint want to wait until my dad got his transcripts. He just has his tax returns at home.
Any additional advice is appreciated.

How many days after paying AOS di you get the IV bill? Im still waiting for ours
-
Brazil does not do DCF. She can apply for a tourist visa but she shouldnt say she intends to immigrate to the USA in the future otherwise her tourist visa will be denied.
-
Well I'm still waiting for my IV fee to be invoiced and it's been a while. I dont want to send it by mail, i rather wait and pay online. It looks like this might still be an issue with the website, including your DS-260. Have you called NVC? If so, what did they say?
-
Contact Swiss embassy ASAP!!!
-
Yes i too was able to pay AOS fee. Now waiting on IV to be invoiced.
-
my iv fee was actually processed in 3 days last week so it's not as bad as they are telling you, the invoice bar code sheet should have come with the welcome letter and document checklist you received from the nvc, have you never gotten any mail from them at all ? As well the iv fee invoice will not be invoiced to you until someone reviews your choice of agent form which will take 30 days if you do not call sooner to have it reviewed . The address to send the aos fee is:
National Visa Center
PO Box 790135
St. Louis, MO 63179-0135
Thanks but I logged in again today and it was finally invoiced!!!!

Use the NVC guide here on Visa Journey

It's been over 3 weeks since we completed Ds-261 and still have not received the invoice to pay the $120 fee. I called NVC and they said that it was ready to pay a long time ago but not on the website yet since it's still down. They told me I can just mail the cashiers check (even though its going to take forever to process) but who knows when the website will be up and running again. I hung up and realized I forgot to ask wether I can mail the money order without an invoice since we never got one???? I tried calling back like 20 times through skype and I cant get through anymore so I'm wondering if any of you have an answer.
Also, when can I pay IV fee? After they invoice the AOS fee??
-
Of course you can petition while being outside the US. Half of US citizens on here live abroad with their spouse. Looks like you will need a joint sponsor later on in the NVC process. You can choose one of your parents if they meet the income requirements. You have to read the CR-1 guide on here that explains step by step what you do during the whole process. Your marriage certificate and any other documents you mail in that are NOT in english WILL require a certified english translation done by a "tradutor juramentado". When mailing in your I-130 you have to include both the translated copy and the original portuguese copy of your marriage certificate.

Just clck on the top header where it says Guides and select the option that corresponds to your case
-
Dont go into the Ds-261 or else it'll delay it for 30 days again. Use the NVC guide on here VJ. I doubt you'll be able to pay any fees since the website has been down for a month now. We are all waiting
-
I'm still waiting to pay the $120 fee for 3 weeks now in order to proceed
I see people mailing their fees. What's the advantage in that if they cant update it on their system?
-
Thats really expensive. Flights FROM Brazil to the US have gotten wayyyyyy cheap. We're talking $800+ reais round trip. So just hold off. Check out viajando barato pelo mundo . com . br

Still can't Pay AOS fee grrrr

Guys this is frustrating. its Delaying everyone!!!!!!!!
The dreaded I-864! current individual annual income for joint sponsors
in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
Posted
I have read inumerous posts about this question and cant seem to find the right answer for our case. My dad, who is self-employed will be my husband's joint sponsor. He files taxes jointly with my mom but wont be using her income. How do I determine his current annual income?? Is it the gross income stated on his 1099 form from the latest tax year (2014) OR a specific amount AFTER taxes are taken out?
