yonglin reacted to VanessaTony in woman travels to USA...after marriage, husband does not want her now!
Honestly he is not legally required to support her, or give her assistance to get back to her country. Sure he SHOULD but he doesn't have to.
A suggestion could be that in return for just signing the divorce papers and not arguing about anything (like half his money, 401K etc) as long as he gives the money for a one-way flight/trip back to her home town. Doesn't hurt to try!

yonglin reacted to Harpa Timsah in Who to contact after AOS has been pending for so long?
Plenty of people have been waiting 7 months. Your case is within normal processing times. You, and you alone, have decided that it is not. Obviously it is, so your cries have been ignored, because there are people who have been waiting longer than you whose cases need processing before yours.
    What is needed? Patience.

8 months after the initial filing, and 7 months after being transferred, god has heard our prayers.
We are finally through with the AOS process...
What worked for us, I can't say for sure. But here's what we did.
On Oct 1, 2012 we made a service request by calling the USCIS national customer care number.
On Oct 4, 2012 we faxed the documents to the Congressman Ackerman and Senator Gillibrand (privacy release form with brief description and I-485 Receipt + Transfer Notice).
On Oct 5, 2012 we sent the documents to Senator Schumer (same docs as above).
Today morning (Oct 10, 2012) we got a call from Congressman Ackerman's office around 10:40 AM asking for my wife's signature on the privacy release form (which I had faxed). Probably they hadn't sent the inquiry on our behalf yet.
Oct 10, 2012 11:30 AM EDT I received an SMS (but no email even though I am registered to receive both forms of notifications) saying that our case status has been updated.
    And voila...
I would like to thank everyone who kept us in their prayers. For those out there who have yet to be approved, just hang in there. Your applications will soon be adjudicated. Have faith.

yonglin got a reaction from VanessaTony in Can my fiancé travel to US for holidays while waiting for the K1 visa?
Visited the US last week on the VWP through Toronto. Being risk averse, I decided to pay a slight premium to enter at Pearson Airport to ensure that I wouldn't have to board the flight if they decided to deny entry. With the advice from VJ, I had stocked up on a bunch of "evidence" to show "ties" to Canada, all of which turned out to be completely unnecessary (just never asked, not even about return itinerary). Come to think about it, I think this was the easiest entry I've ever had into the US: none of the usual demeaning questions about my relationship, etc. I doubt the border officer could see any information about the pending K-1 application on his computer terminal. If he did, he for sure didn't mention anything about it.
If the fiance is an Italian citizen, I think attempting entry on the VWP is preferable to applying for a tourist visa. In particular, there was a post a while back about someone in your situation who had applied for and been denied a tourist visa rather than going on the VWP (which they were eligible for). Consequently, they now have to check the "ever been denied a US visa" box on the ESTA ever after.
At the end of the day, it all depends on the who he runs into at the border. It doesn't matter if he's on the VWP or on a tourist visa: if the border officer has a bad day, they can still deny entry. Trying to be polite and composed when talking to them will certainly not hurt. On the whole, prepare for the worst and hope for the best!
    Best of luck!
