  1. Hi Guys. My I751 and related info was sent last week and has been received according to my USPS tracking number. My questions is.....

What happens in between the period where my 2 year Greencard expires and my 10 year one arrives? It seems like the processing time if beyond the gap that I have. I have a full time job can I not work in that time??

Did you get NOA1 yet? I sent my in on the 21st. It's been over a week and I haven't receive anything nor the check is cashed. I lost my USPS' receipt so kinda in a limbo here.

  2. They changed all the forms already? I just looked at my signature and for package 3 I had to submit DS2001 and DS230 part I . Why did you submit DS160?

Anyway, as far as the evidence, more is better than less, get what you could and bring it to the interview. It's better safe than sorry. However, I only brought my bank statement and some other financial documents (stocks, mutual funds....). I didn't have my bank write a letter. My HR provided me a letter with info how long i've been working there, title, etc.......

Police certificate is good for a year. You should get that way ahead of time. Make sure it's the right form too. Search on here for the correct form. Some of the members a few years back received incorrect form from their justice department.........

Have your fiance take the requirement vaccinations shot now if possible and keep the record (show the record when she's going to her medical). My wife had to take a bunch of shots and it wasn't easy (appointment was long waiting and inconvenient) Plus some shots are required for follow up doses. We had to finish up the shots here in the State.

Medical -- see if you can get an extra copy of the medical record. It may not possible but it would save you some headache later on once your fiance is here in the States. It's for submitting adjustment in case USCIS lost original medical record (head over that forum and do some reading. It will help you in a long way)

    Good luck on your journey.

DS 160, passport pics, and copy of the passport was submitted and received by the consulate.

I think my fiancee will try to get the police records (Justice Record #2) before we get package #4 if it is possible.

Right now I am completing the i 134 f. Do you think I should get more than just a letter from my employer? I have tax transcripts for three years.

Do you suggest I get a letter from my bank or are monthly statements enough?

    THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE!

  3. Don't have to wait for package 3. As soon as we found out that they sent package 3, my wife mailed package 3 back to them on the same day. Basically it's just a few forms that you can fill them out ahead of time. Check my signature for timeline.

  4. Anyone in here recently got their "visa exemption" via the consulates here in the US? I got my last year and it cost only $20. I'm looking to get it for my dad and can't find the update fee. Some websites report the fee increased to $30-$70, I tried to call the SF consulate but couldn't get through them. Thanks

  5. I would ask for my money back from your lawyer. Evidently, he didn't do his job. You pay him to take care your paper work, and tell you what's needed. Who is this lawyer anyway? do you mind post his contact info here so the new comer can avoid him? Good luck to you guys.

yeah, I accept full responsibility....I missed that fine print and concentrated on a police report from our current country of residence. and yes, I am not happy with our immigration laywer who did not make a point of reminding us of this requirement. he repeatedly stated getting the report from VN though he knew full well that my wife is a PRC citizen and that we lived there prior to coming to VN. When I complained to him about it yesterday he basically called us a couple of whining crybabies! LOL

anyway, it appears all's well that end's well. my wife's family can apply a little guanxi and i'll provide a case of free shoes and we should have the police report sometime next week and we'll be on our way.

    Regards

    Will

  6. My wife applied for SSN 5 days after she got here, and received her card a week later. We got married yesterday and took our marriage cert down to SS office to have it change to her married name. Their system wouldn't let them to change it. The people worked there made copies of my wife passport, and marriage cert to send it to Homeland and have it change. We'll know the answer in 4 weeks.

Could anyone advise me on the following, please

I used to live in USA some time ago. I worked and had a social security number. Then I left to my home country. Now I am back to USA on K-1 visa. I got married to my fiance last week. Today I went to Social Security Office to get my married name on my SSC just as as clerk at the City Hall had told me when we were applying for marriage licence. But I wasn't able to change anything ((( Lady at SS office told me that I first need to change my name with Homeland Security. I don't know who is right, and what is the right way for me to act. Also, next week I was planning to get my US driving licences updated with my married name. Won't I be able to have them changed as well until I have work permit or green card?

    Thanks in advance

  7. I think you could. I booked my wife ticket via the internet (United). Most of the time, I find it's cheaper or comparable when book ticket via bing.com or some othere places. Plus, if you stick with one airlines (United, American...), you will get a lot of miles for future tickets. I still have 2 free round trip tickets left to fly to Vietnam :)

My wife travelled here by herself. I didn't have much vacation left.

    Hey vyx,

When buying the tickets. Can i just go to the Vietnamese agency here in the U.S. and buy 1 round trip for me and 1 way for her? I like to fly together with her to the U.S. If I don't have any of her paperwork here, i can still buy her a one way ticket right?

  8. It took 10 days for us to receive it. My wife lived near Bao Loc City. You can go ahead and bought her a ticket. I booked a ticket back in August before our interview :).

  9. Thanks for the info.

My wife already had chicken pox in the past. It showed on her immuization record.

She also received her 2nd shot of MMR (see attached). Should I send this immunization record along with DS 3025? What about TD and Tdap on 3025? I don't understand that. I thought TD and Tdap are the same thing. Flu shot is required? We are planning to get her one anyway. Just not sure if we going to get the civil surgeon to transfer her info over to the new form.

  10. Thats why I was giving him the heads up now... If she can get some of the vaccinations done before she leaves.. even better. She will have to go to a CS in the US and get the Dr to sign off on her so she can get AOS. This really only applies to K visas... It is a good idea to have two copies of the vaccination sheet just in case. Getting the vaccinations in the US can be pricey.. As long as she is 'current' at the time she see's the CS, she will not be required to get those other shots later on... example. if she got here this month and filed AOS in December but was due to get another ound of shots in 2013.. the CS will sign off on it and she gets her AOS without having to get the 2013 shots...

finding a cheap CS in your area to do the paperwork can be tricky... there are a number of threads on VJ specificaly about CS prices.

I thought that I've read in the AOS forum somewhere and you don't need to see a CS if your medical checkup is within a year?

  11. Our interview scheduled at 9:30, we got there at 8:30 and left the embassy at 11:15. Interview took about 10 minutes. It was pretty easy question, nothing personal like one of the member that posted here. We saw a lot of blue that got handout. One yung couple was toghether and they got blue, I wasn't sure why. I will post a detail review later.

  12. wow, that's crazy and useful info. I can't find the post that you mentioned. By any chance you can pull it up on your end and post the link here? Thanks

edit: never mind. I found it.

I wrote a post back in July or August 2011 on the VN forum. It had most of my questions on there. Some of the harder ones were...

What color are the walls in your fiancée house?

What color are the bed sheets?

Who sleeps closest to the door?

    Describe items in her room?

What did you guys eat last night?

    Who ordered what?

How did you guys get here this morning?

    Who paid for the taxi?

    How much was it?

Did you do a dam hoi?

Where did your wife go to high school?

What is your wife's favorite color?

What is your husbands favorite movie?

Where did your husband go to college?

  13. I went with my fiancé. They grilled me, they grilled her. We passed. She's now my wife. I'd recommend you go but you certainly don't have to. My wife's friend just passed and her fiancé was not there. It's really up to you.

Care to share your thoughts on "being grilled"? Did they ask any questions that off the charts? We've looked through some questions that were posted by some of the members here, and to me, those questions are just standard.

  14. So our interview is coming up pretty soon, we have Marc Ellis's office look over our paper work one more time. This one particular form, DS 156, I disagree with how the office want to change a few answers on it.

For Question 32 (Do you intend to work in the U.S): My answer to that is Yes and employer is unknown (same as the answer here on Visajourney’s guide). However, Marc Ellis's office said that it needs to be answer as "No", because K1 is a non-immigration visa, and the consulate could use that against it. I guess it’s the legal/terminology of lawyer talking here.

It’s still up to me at the end of the day what to submit. And I’ll be attending my fiancée interview too. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks
