  1. Hi,

I am filling-out the new I-864 for my wife's case. On Part 6, item # 13 (Federal income tax return information), it is asking for 3 most recent tax returns.

I have just migrated last year (April 2012) and started working on the later part of the year (November 2012). I filed my tax return last year so I only have that for now. I am presently working and my income would be enough based on the poverty guidline.

My question is, am I still qualified to be the lone sponsor even if I only have a year of tax return? Or do I need to have a joint sponsor? Any other option that I might have?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

  2. and what's the difference between the visa bulletin priority dates and the service center priority dates?

Service Center processing date (USCIS) - is for NOA2 approvals

Visa Bulletin priority date (NVC) - is the bulletin to check on when a visa number is avaiable for your PD.

Note (if doing consular processing): Even if your PD is current with the Visa Bulletin but you have not received your NOA2 yet, you still need to wait for the approval to qualify for a visa as your case is still with USCIS

  3. Hi im quite confused.. I just contacted USCIS about the processing time in VSC the guy whom i talked to said USCIS VSC is currently processing June 2012 cases. I had read here in Visa journey cases from VSC with PD Aug, Sept and even Nov cases are being approved so it seems they are giving wrong processing times. So right now how long is the REAL processing time in VSC? Im glad to see movements from VSC PD is 8/12/2013. Congrats to everyone who received their NOA2. smile.png

when you call USCIS, the call center agent would only be looking at the current processing timelines from their website, which would show as June 4, 2012 for their August 20 post.

Here is the link - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

And if you look more closely, from the top of the table, it says "Field Office Processing Dates for Vermont Service Center as of: June 30, 2013". That might mean that the latest case that they have processed on June 20, 2013 was for June 4, 2012.

  4. yayyyyyyy!!!!, just got my wife's case approval today. so I guess they have really started looking into our papers

her case was transferred to NSC on August 9 from VSC and we got the approval email today. will just wait for the snail mail and the NVC case number. crossing my fingers

My wife's PD is Sept. 13, 2012. Hope the VB will not retrogress too much.

  5. Hello everyone,

I have a question concerning my case that I can't find an answer on the forum. I am on F2B category. I've got an immigrant visa like 2 monthes ago. I am planning to go to US on the 1st of november for the first time to activate my green card. POE of IAD. I am planning to stay till 11th of November and go back to France to get married at the end of November. My question is can I go back to France with the I551 stamp on my passeport before getting the plastic card and gettign marry? Or should I wait till I get the plastic card?

I was planning to go back with my I551 stamp and let someone send me the plastic when it arrives by fedex to France.

I can't wait my plastic card because I need to go back to France to settle everything once and for all.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Regards,

Yes, you can go ahead with your plans. The stamp on your passport (I1551) is as good as a green card. Just make sure that it would still be valid once you decide to go back to US.

  6. @Sentinel I just called nvc and said to give em 6-8weeks for them to receive my case. But i was browsing the timeline of others and they got their case number in 5-15days from the day they got their noa2

Yes, that is their SOP, they would always tell you to wait within 6-8 weeks. That's what they told me then :)

But it seems that if they haven't received your case yet within 2-3 weeks, it would be 75% lost in transit.

Just keep crossing your fingers, and PRAY hard :).. or if you have been praying.. PRAY HARDER :)

  7. @mufner i just gave nvc a call and they said they still dont have my case number

What I am about to tell you is just to let you know about what happend with my case before. This is not to discourage you in any way.

Both me and my brother had the same Priority Date and our cases were approved at the same time. USCIS sent both case to NVC (naturally through USPS, smail mail). My borther's case was received by NVC but mine wasn't and got lost in transit.

I tried to call USCIS and they pointed me back to NVC and vice versa.

It took me almost 2 years to finally sort everything out.

I called each and every office (DHS, NVC, USCIS, etc.) to get to the root of the problem. And what they (USCIS) finally asked me to do was to send them another I-130 with my case number on the pages and as they will retain my original case number and PD then send everything to NVC again.

To make the long story short, they lost my papers and they don't have nay copies of it so they needed me to send another set of I-130 to them.

Hope that you get your NVC case number within the next few weeks. But if you don't get it within 2 months, then 'WELCOME TO THE CLUB"!!!!

  8. Hello all

I received notice from NVC that my case completed and they are going to schedule an interview in Baghdad - Iraq for my spouse.

    Priority date 10/05/2012

    Case completed in 20/08/2013

As you know that visa for F2A is current for August and September, lets say they changed date from current to December 2011.

My question is in case if they didn't schedule an interview during August or September does that mean my spouse will wait again till her priority date be a current again.

    Regards

Yes, that would be the case if they do retrogress to December 2011.

But based on some thread on this forum, they are expecting it to retrogress somewhere between Sept, 2012 to December 2012.

So let's just cross our fingers and hope that it does not retrogress all the way back to December 2011 :)

  9. When the visa is retrogressed, would NVC still issued a case number and allowed us to submit and process our I-864 and DS-230?

Yes, you will still get your NVC case number and submit the pertinent documents.

The only thing is, if the VB for F2A does retrogress and you PD is not current with the new VB PD, then they can't provide you the Interview Date with your consulate until your PD becomes current again.

  10. Hi! Been reading a lot of post here in VJ. Just registered today.

Anyway, I also observed that there are more cases approved in CSC than in VSC.

filed @ chicago but case was transferred to VSC

    PD: 8/12/2013

    NOA1:8/19/2013

    NOA2: still waiting

entered US this august im still waiting for my GC but already filed I130 for my 2y/o daughter who was left in the Philippines.

Why do you need to file a separate I130 for your daughter?

did you not try the follow-to-join benefit?

  11. Hello! where did they transfer your file? which local office or Nebraska? thanks

I have not recevie the actual letter by snail mail, so I can't confirm as of the moment.

But based on this USCIS alert, it seems that they are moving it to Nebraska SC

  12. Hi guys,

I just received an email this afternoon from USCIS that my I-130 is being transferred to local office for further processing.

My PD is August 2012. Is there any August 2012 filers from VSC that have received similar emails? Please join so we can compare progress.

Also received the same email just now. Keep us posted on the status of your application.

Hoping that we get our approvals soon
