Yes you're righ if a person have a passport in custody. I read a story here at VJ someone had passport and he lost it, he applied along with file search fee but they didn't find and asking him to submit a proof.
So it doesn't hurt if we have certificate of citizenship, in long run if my son need it in any situation.
( you can search for stories where multiple agencies requested Certificate of Citizenship, One example which I mentioned.)

zoom123 got a reaction from glock in N-400 After i-751 Good faith Waiver
Hi, it depends on the IO. Mine is similar story. I had divorced waiver and had an interview for i-751 then I got approved. in 2017 I applied for Citizenship on 5 year role. At interview the officer didn't ask anything about marriage, just the Civic questions/Read/write. Then she approved my N-400.
Hope they will not ask you too but in case please bevprepared.

Thank you everyone for the replies!

I think the long name might be the issue. I have 4 last names as well (no middle names), and I had problems in the past because they listed 3 of my last names as a middle name in my social security card, and I had to get it replaced. Reading your husband experience, it seems like a very similar situation. No interview, just a long wait in the room.

I will apply for Global Entry and hopefully they can identify the issue and fix it.

This happened to me every time I come to US. At JFK I did my own US passport scan then with 'X' mark I went to immigration officer, he took me to secondary inspection. Where I sat for 15 to 20 minutes then the officer called and gave my passport back.
It's happening to me regardless of vising Country. I came from UK, Amsterdam, India, KSA and recent visit from Ghana.
This start happening to me once I got my GC. Earlier I was on H1B I had no issues. So now I prepare my self that I have to go secondary.
After this trip I applied for Global Entry but the application is still in review.
I never had an Issue at TSA or boarding plane etc.

Don't worry just send the custody documents (original) along with other documents they asked, copy of the letter received. You can do a priority mail, put the case tracking no, any date of travel etc. Write a letter stating you're the sole custody of your son etc.
Once you track the post, after couple of days call the passport agency and ask the status and they might request the agent who is holding your son application to call you back. you can explain him once you receive a call.
    Regards.

You can correct at the time of interview. let the IO know that you're unable to enter two job for the same period. If you have any evidence working two jobs like Pay stubs or W2 you can bring with you for the period you worked two jobs.

    I don't think I'd recommend reapplying:
    * If you withdraw your application, they won't refund your original filing fees (they only do this if USCIS made an error), so you'll end up paying twice.
    * Online cases do seem to be moving faster, but it's already been 7 months since you applied, and I don't think they move that much faster.
    * The USCIS has presumably already done some work on your application (e.g. initiated background checks etc.) and they might not like having their time wasted if they end up having to do those things all over again.

In your interview just take your proof of registration and tell them what happened. You are not in trouble.
