  1. They apply for toursit visa on their own merit. Those doucments you mentioned sound good enough but some consulate do not even ask for them. You could only try; the application fee is the only thing at stake.

They will be asked their purpose of visit and should never lie. These people have a reason why they ask for mother/fathers names from each applicant so they could easily look up their records and see that their son is in the U.S.

    best wishes.

Thanks for the reply! We would never encourage them to lie. We'll get on this.

  2. Hello Everyone,

My husband has been here 11 months tomorrow, after arriving on a K-1 visa. His parents would like to visit and only visit. I'm just wondering how to go about it. They are not wealthy at all and they are not professionals, but they do have a good size savings in the back, from money my FIL received from a pension he received from a company he worked for for many years. He has been at his current job for the school system for 12 years. They own their home and they just finished remodeling it.

I'm thinking they should present as ties:

-Letters from employers stating they are expected back

    -Proof of home ownership

-Proof of savings in the bank

    ork

What other things should they include? They have already gotten their passports. Would mentioning that they would like to visit us work in their favor or against them?

What should they do now that they have Mexican passports? Thanks for your help!

  3. If they have a smart phone that can access wireless, then you could check into the airports and see what they offer for wireless plans (many have some sort of free wrieless, I would have checked, but you didn't state which airport in New York) and he could either email you or download a texting app that works over a wireless connection (Skype, Yahoo, WhatsApp) just to name a few. I have used airport wireless connections to contact my fiance on trips and vice versa and we've really never had any troubles.

If your fiance has a laptop and you have a Skype account, you can buy Skype credit and have him call you via Skype. Skype is not just for Skype to Skype calling. You can also call landlines if you purchase credit or subscriptions. I have a North America subscription. Skype credit can also pay for you to be able to use the airport Wi-Fi if you are in an airport that charges for Wi-Fi use. This is what my fiance did and I was at least able to know that he made it safely.

Have him log in as you and call your cellphone or landline home phone.

  4. There are a lot of threads on visa journey with regards to this. Mainly with people wanting to go to Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands. Caution is definitely warranted because there is no guarantee with a plane and a potential emergency or weather situation as to where they may have to set down.

Hawaii and Alaska are fine as long as you make sure there are no layovers in other countries such as Canada or Islands in the Pacific.

  5. Original Signatures are required for the "Letter of Intent," however, the G-325A for beneficiary only requires the statement "will sign at consulate" in the signature box.

I did this at the advice of very experienced member "pushbrk" for my fiance and our petition was approved with no problems. But since you still need the original signature for the letter of intent, it probably will be best to handle the signature for the G-325A at the same time.

All the best on your journey.

  6. Well its good that you know where you are.

Being at the NBC means you'll can possibly be receiving a RFE (but if you havent gotten one by now most likely youre not getting one) or youre either be approved w/o and interview or be transferred to a local office for an interview.

Since they dont have any official processing times for the NBC for the 485, I dont know that you can call and ask for a service request on your case since its been so many months but if you want you can call up and try.

Thanks again! I really appreciate your help.

So by it being at National Benefits Center that means:

    1. RFE

    2. Approval w/o interview

    3. Or transfer to local center for interview

Pardon my ignorance in advance, but what other possibilities existed for my application besides the aforementioned ones had it not been sent to NBC?

  7. Have you signed up to receive case status updates by email? or are you able to access your case online?

You need to figure out where your case is. Since youre a K1 you may or may not need an interview. If youre able to access your case online it will tell you where your case is being currently being processed or what step youre currently on. If youre not able to access it online, you can call and ask.

If youre being processed at the national benefits center- then thats either good or bad depending on how you look at it. The NBC is where you sit while they do 'background checks', decide whether or not to send RFEs, and will decide whether or not your case will be sent for an interview or if you will be issued a GC w/o an interview. So if youre still showing being processed at the NBC theres nothing you can do but sit and wait for them to decide what happens next. You may be able to put in a service request though if you are there still since it has been 5 months, but I dont know that for sure...

If it shows you were transferred to a local office for interview/scheduleding processing, then it means you are required to have an interview and you can check the timelines link for a general idea of processing times and trends for your local office. However, it could be a long wait. When I look at the trends at my local office I can see that last year around this time they were moving rather quickly. People were getting scheduled and approved GC around the rate of apx 2-3 months, then all of a sudden there was a slow down and now it seems the processing time is around 7-8 months. Currently the people being called in for interviews and receiving GC during the month of Dec at my local offices were those who filed for AOS in April.

Thank you Capri. My receipt number shows that it went to the Missouri Service Center. The online case status only says "Acceptance." So I don't where we are in the stream of time. It was not sent to California Service Center, so I don't know if we will have an interview or not.

Any suggestions on how I can find out where it is?

    Thanks again for your reply.

Oops! I checked again and you are right. It is at the National Benefits center. So I guess I should sit back and wait.

  8. Best of luck finding something credible with working online.

I work online from Canada from my company in the US but it's a very special circumstance.

There are TONS of jobs in the US that would love someone fluent in spanish.

I've had to ignore certain job postings because the only spanish i knew was enough to get the grill people to make me a fillet o fish at mcdonalds. But working online... that's going to be a tough one.

Thank you for responding. I would have loved it if my husband's boss would have allowed him to continue to work online.

  9. thank you all for the reply.. I arrived here in the US last August 30 this year.. I am worried tht my relatives cant take care of her like i do.. and my mom is abroad and we dont have dad.. we have diff father which we never met.. i just wnt her to see what i see here..and experience what i am experiencing right now.. i want to enjoy the things i am enjoying.. she is not just my sister but i treat her like my own child. thanks guys... at least i have an idea on how to take care of this matter..

It must be so wonderful to have you as a sister. I hope everything turns out well for you both.

  10. Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully worked online in their native language. For example, if you're from Mexico, were you able to work online via a Mexican company or work online for a company anywhere in the world that required you to use only Spanish. Maybe this is a long shot, but I'm curious.

    All countries and languages welcomed.

    Thanks

  11. I cannot emphasize enough how great it is to establish a credit history with a secured credit card. I had a good experience with Citibank. With the secured card that I got, the amount I gave them to establish the credit limit was treated as a CD, so at the end of a year they returned my money to me with interest! They also increased my credit limit for being a good customer. I was very happy. Within two years I qualified for an American Express. I highly highly highly recommend paying off the balance in full each month. This is excellent habit in general and makes your credit score soar.
