  1. We got married on June 5 and we went to the Social Security office in Aurora on June 17th. We were at the Social Security office for 1 hour and 45 minutes before our number was called. We filled out the form for the social security card online. We showed my husbands passport and a copy of the I94. I did not change my name.

You can apply for a social security card before or after marriage. It is recommended you wait 2 weeks after arrival before applying for a social security card.

  2. Hello

The petitioner will receive an email from Ankara once they receive the file from NVC.

Once Ankara receives the file, you can make an appointment online. If you make an appointment prior to Ankara receiving the file, your appointment will be canceled.

The Consulate's website has an FAQ section as well as a PDF file with instructions for the K1 visa.

    Our interview is tomorrow.

    Good luck on your journey

  3. Hello

You can go online to make your appointment. Follow the instructions for the K1 packet. Ankara does not mail out instructions. It is done by email only.

According to the State Department, form 160 will be used by all applicants worldwide. This change took place on October 7th

I checked the instructions on the Ankara web site. They have not been updated.

We are waiting for our instructions from the Embassy.

    I hope this helps

  4. Hi Everyone,

I was wondering where I could find information about how fast or slow NVC is processing k-1 visa app.

Also I wanted to know if anyone knew how fast or slow the processing times for the Istanbul, Turkey consulate are doing for interviews or if there is a place where I can find that information?

    Thank you!!!!

After your petition is approved you can call NVC to find out if they have the petition. NVC usually has the petition for about 2 weeks and then sends it to the consulate in Ankara. Once the petition leaves NVC, the consulate in Ankara will send an email with instructions. The consulate used to list all appointment dates on the web site but since appointments are now made online, I do not know where you can check appointment dates. If you want, you can read the instructions on the consulate web site.

  5. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, but one has to admit, it really looks strange you are already seeking knowledge about how to get married.

If I just broke it off with my fiancé, I would still be grieving the loss, not asking how to get married in Turkey where I just got denied a K1 and already have another younger guy lined up. It does look suspicious.

Hope you find the happiness you are seeking.

I laughed so hard when I saw this. My fiance broke up with me when he didn't get the visa. I decided to move on with my life and find someone closer to my own age. I want to be prepared should this new relationship lead to something more. I am making plans for my retirement in 4 years. I hope to share my life with someone after I retire.

  6. My relationship with my Fiance ended after we got news that the petiion was sent back to the United States. The CO did not believe we had a bona fide relationship. Has anyone filed a second K1 visa for a different person? I am not planning on filing any time soon. I am not in a hurry. I have met someone else that is closer to my own age. He is 7 years younger. I think age was the reason for the denial. My former fiance is 18 years younger than I. If I were to file again, I would be able to visit least twice a year but only for 2- 3 weeks at a time. I don't want to go through another denial with someone else.

I am not engaged to anyone yet. I am just curious at this point so if I decided to marry in 3 -4 years time, then I will have some information. I want to hear from anyone that filed a second petition for a second person and was successful. I am just trying to clarify.

  7. I have read the requirements for getting married in Turkey on various websites. Do I need to get an eligibility for marriage in the United States?

Do they still do blood tests?

Thanks to anyone who can answer

This question is for the ladies that have been married in Turkey. I am specifically looking for American women that have married Turkish men. It has nothing to do with how long I have spent with someone. That is why I have posted in the regional discussion for Europe and Eurasia. In the future I may marry in Turkey and I would like to know if you had to do the blood test. I read on another forum that one lady had to take a blood test for sickle cell anemia. I have also read they no longer require the chest x rays. I have read some people were required to go to the Embassy to get the paperwork showing that they are free to marry ( I forgot what this is called)

Thanks to the ladies that are married to Turkish men.

  8. You are always welcome. Waiting for the denial usually will take long time. As it is a returned application; the USCIS will prioritized or work more on the new application. I would advice you to follow-up the existing application you had so you can do what is needed to do. And if ever you didn't know; my visa application was denied too in the USembassy in Manila and was sent back to the USCIS last September 2011 for the reason the same as yours. And until now we dont receive any letter from the USCIS yet. My husband emailed the USCIS but still no news. Wish you good luck in everything you do.

I am giving the denial a little time. I called NVC and they had no record of it. USCIS has no record of it. The Embassy says to contact USCIS. I don't know if they sent it back in June or July. I received an email in the middle of July from the Embassy stating that the petions was being sent back. I am not planning on filing another K1 yet.
