  1. You have misinformation. When you get to NVC you will be submitting all original documents to NVC. Not at interview. Thats K1's that do that.

I hope you brought back your husbands documents for his IV Package:

    1 birth certificate

2 Biographical pages of his passport

    3. 2- passport pics

    4. Birth certificate (long form only will be accepted)

    5. divorce decree (if applicable)

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT have your husband get his police report until you are at NVC and have got your case#. Than he can go and get the PCC not until (only a 3 month expiry on that).

Go to the NVC filers thread read post #1 and #2 it will help fill you in. NVC has changed alot in the last 3 months and following the thread while you wait for you approval will keep you on top of things so you don't lose time when that time comes.

Luckily I do have all of those things. Just so I am clear other than the I-864 is there anything else I need to submit? This process is soooo confusing lol I need a road map :)

  2. So since my I-130 has been transferred and I'm all giddy with excitement on the light at the end of the tunnel....I'm trying to get a jump start on the next steps of the process. I think I have everything covered for the I-864 but I ran across something that caught my eye for the actual documentation my husband is to bring to his interview. The list mentions "Original or certified copy of marriage certificate" this concerns me because I brought our only copy provided by the marriage registry home with me. I'm not quite sure if I trust mailing this document to Nigeria given the fact that packages/letters are stolen all the time or they make the recipient pay additional funds on the receiving end after they find out what it is. That and the fact that I know if he goes back to registry I'm not sure if they will give him a copy (if they even have one) and if they do the large amount of money they will require him to pay given the fact that I am American.

Needless to say this leaves me a bit torn as to what I should do in this instance. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

  3. I went to this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&officelocator.office_type=SC and at the very bottom of the page typed in my husbands ZIP Code. It gave me Nebraska Service Center. My guess would be that this is the center our application went to. smile.png. Will see how accurate it is, after we get the paper notification.

Well looks like based on your assumption both of ours will be sent to Nebraska. I was hoping for California since they are processing pretty fast ;)

  4. Thank you for the replies...the reason I ask is that in the past, I believe they have said couples living abroad together 's I130 will stay at NBC but if you are separated where the USC lives in the USA and the spouse abroad, then the I130's are transferred to their local Service center so I was just trying to confirm if this the what is happening...

My I130 has been transferred as of 12/5/13 to "my local office" I am here in the USA my husband is abroad. Still waiting for the hard copy to find out where it was actually sent....Hoping that it says California :)

  5. We are pretty much identical in dates. Yesterday afternoon I received 2 emails almost back to back stating that my file had been transferred and then another one first thing this morning (12/5) saying the exact same thing. My NOA1 is also dates 5/9/13 from the Overland Park location so I am curious as to where they are sending it now.....even though the email indicated my "local USCIS office" i have absolutely no clue were that is.

  6. Were there any types of questions they pushed him on specifically?

Situations that usually get them suspicious is stuff like big age gap, few meetings, language barriers, very big cultural differences etc..

In their eyes, chat logs etc can be faked, and pics alone aren't enough..

As far as I know he was pushed on questions there is not age gap he's 41 Im 36, no language barriers, no real cultural differences. I guess the frustrating part is that in such a long distance situation what else are you suppose to have besides phone, chat, and what little pics we have from when we are together. I just dont even know what my starting off point is at the moment ie who do i call (if anybody) or what do I do

  7. I am so devastated right now (no surprise) My Fiance's interview was this morning in Lagos. He brought all required documentation and answered all questions but was denied because the officer felt that there was not enough supporting evidence to prove our relationship. Now I have to admit usually when I read this type of stuff I am somewhat jaded but in this situation we have been in contact for 5 years and provided phone records, chat conversations, and pictures from while i was in Lagos last year. I have no clue what to do at this point and any advice would be helpful.

As explained to me they did not give us a chance to provide further evidence and said we would have to start over

  10. I need some input. We never received notification from NVC regarding anything but last week both myself and my fiance in Nigeria had missed calls from the consulate in Lagos. When calling the number back neither of us received any help as to what the call was about (SO FRUSTRATING). It was only because my fiance was adamant that he finally found out that his interview is next Wednesday 2/22/12 since then he's taken care of his medicals and such. My question is regarding the visa fee that needs to be paid, since he is in Nigeria can this be paid in local currency or does it need to be paid in US dollars. If anyone can let me know ASAP I would greatly appreciate it....and I will let you all know the outcome of this AMAZING adventure

So the Visa for K1 is still $350 from what it sounds like. Does anyone know for sure if he can pay the fee in local currency??

  11. You can pay in either of the currencies ,I paid in dollars so that i dont get stucked in case the exchange rate is higher at the embassy but i saw some people,in fact many people paid in naira but at N165 per dollar(in January). The DV visa fees in now $440 per applicant

When did the fee change? Per the Interview Preparatory Packet downloaded it shows the visa fee is $350. Can you tell me where you received this info so that I can look it up. Thanks!

  13. When I woke up this morning I notice I had a missed call from an odd number at 5:30am my time. Checked my voice mail and it was the US Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria. The lady was hard to understand because she had a thick accent, she did NOT leave a call back number!! What I can make out is she said something about "requesting an interview" and something about a "care package". Does anyone know what this means?? I thought I would receive a letter from NVC notifying me that my file had been sent to Nigeria but I didnt. I called USCIS this morning but they were absolutely no help. Now I am freaking out lol any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.....THANKS!
