  1. I'm confused about this whole PCC thingy.

Can I use the PCC from the police office for the visa application? Or do I need to get it from the passport seva kendra (passport office)?

If i have to get it from the PSK, can I simply use the commissioner PCC to apply at the PSK?

    Please help!

i dont know about other places, but in Hyderabad all they need is your passport. As long as there is not change in your address which is mentioned in your passport you dont need anything. Thats what they told me. So i took my passport the filled out application , which i filled online. and the fee. I was in and out of PSK with a PCC in 2 hours. thats it !

  2. OMG ! First of alll forget about lawyers and courts. They will take you for a ride !

Just go to your Registrar office , ask the officer if he will accept a form filled out by USC while USC is not present ? in our case the officer requested that USC mail the application filled out directly to the Registrar office. I emailed the application to my USC wife in US , she filled it out and mailed it back to me she used FedEx so we could track the application and know when it will reach the office and i was present at the registrar office right when the FedEx guy delivered the application from my USC wife to the officer. The officer then gave a go ahead. Our notice was put up on the board. and after 30 days my USC wife came over and we got married. simple.

Mind you we have to give small gift to the officer. You always doo !

  3. What is the original of school certificate doing in the package

you guys are doing too much, nvc never demanded your school cert

Ok as per Mumbai Consulate guidelines, If the beneficiary's Name is not mentioned in his birth cert (very common in India) then we have to include a secondary evidence such as School cert.

I do not know why everybody writing a letter because I did not write anything. NVC accepted it without any issue but you should do what ever make you satisfied. Good luck

There are some issues , so we think its best to include a letter to briefly explain them.

  4. I am ready to send DS-230 package to NVC, below is our covering letter. Kindly have a look and let me know if i missed something.

    Thanks in advance.

So anything ? any inputs, comments ?

  5. Yes, you can still send the packet IV if you have paid IV fees. I had sent AOS and packet IV together (2 different packets) Even if you send the packet IV before AOS they willw ait for AOS packet and may generate a checklist for it.

You can send the packet IV from India, they need to receive it no matter from where you send it. The address is same for NVC to receive any kind of packets for this process.

Thank you for your reply. But also can i use "FedEx" to send the DS-230 packet ? Is FedEx reliable ?

  6. We are at NVC stage and we really want to move our app foward , but not sure what to do. My Timeline is current but here is what we are doing/going to do. Any imputs are welcomed , Kindly try to answer questions as clearly as possible as Both wife and I suffer from some level of ADHD,Really appricate any help in advance.

    1. AOS Status :

    a. We have paid $88 for I-864 on 22nd Aug 2012. The status has been reading PAID since then.

    b. Wife got a tax consultant to help her file her 2011.

    c. Wife never filed her 2007 and 2008 tax returns. The TAX consultant is helping her file these aswell. But her proirety is 2011

    d. So in the comming few days she will have tax doc for filled 2011,2010 and 2009 ready.

Question AOS-1: While AOS just needs 2011,2010 and 2009 tax docs , will it have negetaive effect on AOS to have pending 2007 and 2008 tax returns ? Should we wait till 2007 and 2008 tax returns are filed also ?

Question AOS-2: Do we send AOS with 2011,2010 and 2009 tax docs to NVC or does the Beneficary/Applicant carry it to the consulate in Mumbai, India ?

Question AOS-3: So if the Petetitioner sends the AOS package to NVC, does Beneficary/Applicant carry photo-copy of AOS package to the interview? If not the whole package then which specific pages ?

    2.DS-230 IV Fee Status :

    a. We will pay the IV Fee in the comming few days which is visible on the same page where we paid AOS fee.

    b. I (Applicant) have both parts of DS-230 filled out. I havent signed Part -II.

    c. I (Applicant) have colleted all my documents that go along with DS-230(Marriage certificate,Birth Cert.,Police Cert, Photo-Copy of my Passport bigographical page.)

Question IV-1 : Where do i (applicant) send my DS-230 ? To Wife so she can send it to NVC or i carry it to the embassy ? If it is sent to wife (Petetitioner) do i send both parts or just first ?

Question IV-2 : Do i send my original Documents with DS-230 to my wife ? If yes then do i carry photo-copy to consulate in Mumbai ?

Question IV-3 : I got two copies of Police Clearence cert from the passport office here in India. Do i send both of these along with DS-230 to my wife for submitting to NVC or i keep one and send one to wife ?

I hope someone could clear some air for us. We are compleatly lost right now. Any help is appriciated. Thank you all in advance.

  7. i told you the fee the courier companies would charge you here to send the PP to India, for the other member who asked me to write in english, yes, i would keep that in mind.

BTW just for your information , you're not allowed to send Indian Passport in mail outside of India. If decteted by Indian authorities , it will be confiscated. Good luck !

  8. The marriage registrar may say that you have to register under the "Special Marriage Act" as you are a foreign citizen. That means you need to stay in India for at least 30 days to get the marriage registered.

You should check this with the marriage registrar before you plan your trip.

she said she is sikh. Special Marriage act only apply when the marriage is between Hindu and Christian or Hindu and Muslim or Muslim and Christian without the need for any party to change their religion.

Sikhs,Hindu,Jain and Buddist are all included in Hindu Marriage act. Thus they can marry each other and get it registered under Hindu Marriage act.

However the Registrar officer might still make a issue, Trust me he would only do this to get bribe or some gift. Good idea is to take a small gift like a little expensive wrist watch or perfume bottle or something else. Each officer is diffrent. Make your judgment based on his personality. And be a little discreate when giving the gift. I hate curroption but you have to deal with it to get things going in India.
