  1. I will be using the I-864 for the adjustment of status after my Fiancee is here as mentioned in the post

How is it that you are using an I-864 for a K-1 visa?

Okay thanks for the info. Yes my income is well above the requirements I am just gathering opinions on what will be needed for the paperwork. Thanks for everyones input I have received alot of help from this site. I try to be as over prepared as possible. :)

You should be able to use the copies of the bank statements - but why even use them - do you not have enough income to show support (125% of poverty giudelines)? If you still need the bank statements - get the bank to reissue 'original copies' or give you a statement of deposits etc. (whatever info you need.) That way you won't rely on copies alone. Good Luck
  2. We are still on the other side of this proccess with my Fiancee's interview coming up.

I have my bank statements the originals in with the affidavit of support for her interview at the embassy.

Do they usually keep those papers and the documentation or hand it back?

My main question is if they keep it which I am assuming they do I will not have some of the original bank statements that I need.

Would they likely have issues with me including photocopies of my bank statements in the AOS I-864? Or should I just get a letter from the bank showing the date account was opened and the amount deposited in the past 12 months etc and just forget about the bank statements themselves?

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for the info I appreicate it.

See if she can get a copy of her DS-3025 when she gets her medical. It will have as part of it a vaccination worksheet detailing all the vaccinations she received in-country.

If she requires a booster, or additional vaccinations for whatever reason (shortages or unavailability), she will be required to get them done by a civil surgeon when she's in the states.

The medical exam imposed by some civil surgeons appears to be ignorance on their part. K1 applicants do not require a full medical if the last medical was given in-country within one year. Calling around to different civil surgeons seems to be the solution to this problem for most people.

All that should be required to do your AOS submittal will be the I-693 vaccination supplement, detailing any booster shots or other vaccinations needed to complete the DS-3025 shortages.

  4. My Fiancees interview is coming up shortly if all goes well she will be here soon and we will be getting her SSN.

My question is when is the best time to apply for SSN?

Is it okay to get married then apply for SSN? Or is it better to get the SSN first then have the name changed on it after we are married.

I seen a case where someone had difficulty getting their SSN because they married first. The people at the office where telling them that because they were married they were no longer under Fianc'e' status and were not eligible for the specail provisions for getting a SSN with a k-1 visa. Which perhaps would explain why I see some cases of individuals applying for SSN getting Married then getting the name changed on it?

Does the law support that idea? Or where the people at that office simply out of their Gourds?

  5. Really that is ridiculous. I mean you contacted them on January 16. The interview was barely over a month away. They should have informed you then about it. They no doubt would have had the information at that point. Even the state department can usually inform people of their interview date about a couple months in advance.

I think getting legal help would be looking good to me at this point. Have you tried to get the interview rescheduled does anyone know the proccess for that? Perhaps ask for re-scheduling complain about the inaccurate information you were given in January

    and ask for expedited service.

Oh yeah you ended up firing the lawyer sorry. But really does anyone know a good lawyer to referrence this person if it is needed.

  6. I was looking at the example form of a filled I-134 example. Since we are working on getting things together for this next step. :)

And I noticed on the section where it asks if you own realestate etc that they have nothing down on the example form. But then have an address. Could this cause any problems. Is it really a good idea to put an address on the section entitled which is located at: if you are not going to put down it's value Mortgage info and have documentation proving it all? Maybe this is just me being overly cautios. But just wanted to know what you all thought.

  7. Just going to vent for a second. I called the state department today to check up on interview date. First I get the message telling me wait time is 15 minutes. After waiting over a half hour and this not on a 1800 number and the line continuously playing the message apologizing for the wait I finally just call back at which point I get the message saying the line is closed. Why don't they tell you when they close their line instead of leaving you on hold. Wasting time and money on a long distance phone call. My time zone it was only 4:30 when I found out it was closed and I guess they are on a different time zone then mine since the line is supposed to be open till 5. Instead they close their line and leave you on hold waiting for an operator that is probably heading toward their car to go home.
