Ton says that she has heard of that before, starting around the end of January.

I would wait until at least Monday before starting to worry. They have had many changes there from what I understand.

It was me who had issues with that so called lawyer a while back. I mentioned in the past I didn't believe he was an actual lawyer, and this proves it. Just because he supoosedly went to law school does not qualify him as a lawyer. He stated in the interview he did not take the bar exam ( which of coarse is why I never found him registered in any). I think many of us on here who have gone through the process are now just as qualified as he to go there and make $1500 for helping someone out. Go for it Yodrak, you could make a fortune...lol

Kirk, you put her citizenship as Thailand, and use her name. If not married then use her name as it appears in her passport. Also mark down legal alien authorized to work.

Congrats Sam and Mariya!!!!!

Mike they changed Tons interview date also, but they call and ask if you want it earlier, you don't have to accept if you don't want to.

Glad to hear everything went well. You two make a good looking couple. Don't worry, the next couple of months will go by very fast, especially since she already has the visa in hand.
And WOW! 175 people.

Hey Gene, nice to see you visit here...lol
I think most international airlines will request to see the passport. Immigration when you return should not want to see the airline tickets, so I would assume you should use the name in her passport.

Ton did her medical in Dec. and used only 3 forms which were from packet 3 that the consulate gave to her. She said even though it was only 3 forms, they total out to more than 3 pages. She doesn't remember exactly how many pages though.

Things are a bit better now. We still have some issues, but we are trying to work on them. I took her to the olive garden yesterday and she seemed to like it. I still have no idea what to get her for our fist valentines day together.
She loves the weather here. While NY got hit with 26 inches of snow, we have had 80 degree weather here. So she is starting to adjust a bit more.

I believe you have to sign it in person in front of the CO.

Richard I sent you a PM!!!

I think he was just saying that the K1 is for NON-married couples. So if you were to tell the CO that you were already married (be it Thai or American) they can turn you down for the K1 and insist you file the K3.
Today is Tons first day in school. She is taking english classes. My town has a very nice adult ed center. She has already met 2 other girls from Thailand. So hopefully she will make some friends and adjust a little bit more easily. Yesterday we went to Thai Town which is a small section of Hollywood. She really enjoyed her self and things are getting much better now.
I felt like a parent watching my child go to school for the first time. I think everything will be ok
Hmm, I guess we can't post more that one message in a certain time frame. Don't know about you all, but I don't like that.

ken was your fiance ever married before? If not, then she does not need that certificate you are thinking of. It is only for people that were previously married.

Hi, I have a little question. Our Packet 3 was recieved by the embassy in Bangkok on Jan 25.
Since I'm sponsoring a cambodian, I'm supposed to recieve packet 4. It's been over a week already, and from all the different timelines on VJ, it seems like recieving a interview date shouldn't take this long. I'm pretty sure that all the paperwork is correct.
Do you guys think that maybe there might have been something wrong or should I just wait it out some more?
I'm actually a little worried I sent it off to the wrong adress, on VJ the adress says it is:
120/22 Wireless Road
Bangkok
Thailand
Yet, the adress from packet 3 was sent from "95 Wireless Rd." which is where I returned the packet to, did I just send it off to the wrong place?
Try calling the consulate. They may just give you the date over the phone.

If anyone is interested, here is a list of all the Thai Temples in America. Don't know if any are missing or not.

how long does the fiance can stay in the usa? i know it is 90 days allowed.what happened if the ex-fiance over stayed in the usa? is it allowable if the ex-fiance leave the usa on the 91th day?
What do you mean by allowable? After 90 days you would be considered out of status and would be here illegally. But no one is going to come knocking on your door looking for you.

It's funny that you mention that Ken. She is half chinese..

Dan does Ton speak a little english or almost none? Maybe it's just a communication thing and once you get past that everything will work out. You have come so far at this point don't give up now.
Ton speaks english just fine for me. We have been speaking on the phone everyday for 2 years. We do a lot of speaking now about the situation.
Dan,Dao and I have also gone through some rough moments when she was very homesick. She misses her niece the most and talks about her a lot. We are approaching two months now and things have definitely improved substantially over the past couple of weeks, so it does get better with time.
Try to sit down and have a conversation about the future you two have together. You both need to believe that there is a good relationship and happiness in your future together for it to work. If you or her do not believe that, then perhaps it is time her her to decide if going back to thailand is what she wants.
The biggest problem here is..She is 29 yrs old and has never been on her own. She is used to sleeping with her mom by her side her entire life. She does not want to go home because of me, but because she misses her mom too much. Only half of her wants to be home. She said if she was to leave that she would miss me just as much as she now misses her family. Even though I think her english is ok when she speaks, it is that she can't understand when someone else is speaking. Everyone talks to fast for her which is why she doesn't watch TV. Hopefully she will make some friends at the english class.
Dan
P.S. Where is the darn spell checker

Ton also works outside in the garden. Tomorrow we are registering her for english classes which will be for 2 hrs a day 5 days a week. So hopefully she will enjoy going there and giving her something to do. But the other day when she looked up at the sky it made her depressed because it was day here and night in bkk where her nephew is sleeping. I didn't buy the ticket yet as we are trying to better the situation. I just worry at the fact it is only 2 weeks now, how will it be in 2 months?!?!
-
Thank you all for your input. Ton calls home everyday to talk to Mom and some days to her friends. I think that actually makes it worse. The more she calls, the more homesick she gets. Rich, I have been very patient. It has nothing to do with patience when the person refuses to speak. Her english is fine when talking to me, but she won't talk to anyone else. I have not worked since we came back to the states and I am about to go back next week. I can't imagine how board she will be then. I am planning on taking her to Thai town this week and hopefully a Temple. But I am finding out, the more Thai stuff we do, the more she misses home. Every time we start talking and things seem a little better, then she does a 360 again and we get into it all over. I will keep all posted.
-
Not even 2 weeks yet and I am sendning Ton back home to bangkok. She is too home sick and I can't deal with that every day. I have tried to talk to her about it, but she doesn't talk, she just clams up. I don't think I will ever date anyone from a non-english speaking country again.

How exciting and draining all of this is!
At this moment I am filling out my I-134 for my fiancee who has an appointmen in London later in February. Somewhat to my dismay I see that, as her sponsor, I need a statement from the officer of my bank declaring certain information about my account. I had thought that bank statements sent to my house, as well as information printing off of online banking sites would be sufficient. Are these in fact insuffficient and is the "statement" only acceptable in the form of a letter rom a bank employee? How long should I expect this to take?
That all depends on your bank. Mine would not give me the letter that I needed. They only gave me a letter stating when I opened the account and that I am in good standing. So I used that along with some recent bank statements.

Big difference in cost of living. I moved from the most expensive state (NY) to the next most expensive state (CA). Prices here are rediculous.
