  1. For the K1 you will need the I-134 not the 864. After New Hampshire receives your file, they will then forward it to BKK. At that time you will be able to get your packet 3. I know things have changed a little now, but you used to be able to go to the embassy and pick it up, but I think now you have to have them semd it to you snail mail.

  2. As stated before, around 95% of single women get refused a tourist visa. My wife, when she first applied showed she owns her own home which is proof of ties to Thailand. They didn't believe she owned it because her salary was not alot. Of coarse I guess that person never heard of a mortgage. I think you pretty much have to come from a high society family in order to get a tourist visa.

  3. I am looking into the advantages of living in Thailand after I retire. Do any of you know an American that is retired and living in Thailand that I could contact? I have many questions and have only found some of the answers on the internet. Most of the sites I’ve found deal with Americans living and working in Thailand. I don’t plan to work. I just want to sit back and enjoy not having to shovel snow in winter! My retirement is still down the road but Ying and I are starting to plan now and we are considering buying a house in Thailand within a year or 2.

Jean, Ton and I are also planning to move to Thailand. I haven't really done that much research yet, but we plan on doing that in a couple of years...

  4. I am glad to see everything is moving along everyone. Here is a question to all of you who have already entered and got married. Does your Thai wife where here wedding ring all the time? Sometimes? or rarely? Ton tells me that most Thai women only where it for a couple of days after the wedding. Is this true?

  5. Hey Mike Congrats on getting the Visa :dance:

I was looking into the Sat dish for Thai TV, but Ton has found a web site that you can watch all the channels you want for free. It isn't too bad if you have dsl or cable. Let me know when she gets here to Torrance and I can give you some tips on places to go for food etc...

Ton is still having some adjustment problems.

I will try to find that website address for Thai TV and Radio.

  6. I love to hear all the great news from everyone here.

    Another question....

What is the difference between the BKK Embassy packet 3 and 4?

I thought the packet 3 was just the checklist, and packet 4 was all of the required forms (medical, DS, etc....).

According to Wan, my fiancee, she just rcvd everything (about 30 pgs) in a single packet.

Mike I believe packet 3 are all of the forms you need to fill out, and packet 4 is the letter telling you when your interview date and time is.

  7. Tik mailed the packet 3 to the Embassy today.

It is funny, she mailed from the post across the street from the embassy.

    HELLO ALL!!

what is the best way to send money to my fiancee in thailand?

    thank you

    Bill

Depending on if you are in a hurry or not, go to ikobo.com. The first time you send money it takes a while due to the fact they have to send her an ATM card. Once she receives that, then it is instant and there rates are the best.

  8. I lost my job back in August which paid me a decent salary, now I barely make enough for both of us, especially having to shop for 2 different grocery list. Living in LA is just rediculous. The cost is so high and the salaries are some of the lowest I have have ever seen.
