  1. Yeah , that's one of the reasons it took so long for me to get the CSP Approval in the first place because of change outs and losing paperwork. It took a IG call to get things in working order. The most I could do is hopefully get in touch with the Commander at the time if he is still in the Army. Other wise I do have the paperwork of him approving my wife coming Non CS while I waited for the paperwork. I also have her and my kids SOFA Visas showing they were with me at the time (dated in JAN) but that was also in the packet I sent. I was hoping an appeal with a different officier might help , but I don't want to spend that kind of cash for another denial... I ll wait and see what they say when I have I go in to the INFOPASS appointment.

  2. Hello ,

We got a very dissapointing letter that my wife was denied her citizenship because she was overseas with me in Korea from 2014- 2016

She , along with my 2 kids , first arrived with me non command sponsored because of some paperwork trouble arriving in country. I called USCIS military line and I was told it was ok as long as I changed her address to the APO address. Later , after being there a year and a half non-command sponsored she received her 10 year Green Card no problem. In April 2015 our command sponsorship paper work was finally done and I had orders with her name on it. We returned to El Paso TX ( Fort Bliss) in Aug 2016. No problems getting in.

We applied for her N400 around November and it was expedite due to a upcoming deployment. She had her interview in Jan. She passed the test with flying colors. Then the officer looked over and saw she was in Korea with me. She tried to explain the situation with the orders and being there a year and a half non command sponsored. She asked if she could get me to explain better and they told her no. The officier ( according to my wife) didn't understand the orders and why she wasn't on the original orders but later put on later within my time in Korea. She said she would have to look into it deeper and mail her the decision. We got the letter stating since she wasn't on the orders first she was in Korea over her time and we would have to wait another 2 years to file. I don't understand 1) why we would get as far as the interview before they notice this and 2) if the USCIS t2 officer on the phone said it was not a problem as long as her address was changed to a apo address it wouldn't affect her status. Also like I said her 10 year green card went through with no problem and without a interview. I have the option to appeal, but that is another 700$.

    Any suggestions ? Should I appeal ?

I also called the hotline again and they were kind of confused why it didn't go through and told me to schedule a info pass appointment . Which I did... just wondering if anyone had any similar issues or had any advice how to proceed.

  3. Honestly I don't know how long her job would let her go for, but that is how long she would stay. And a Financial advisor maybe alright in the Philippines, but alright in the Philippines and in here in the US are 2 different things, which is why i thought maybe a affidavit of support would help. Not sure why its a big deal that she is 20 with a job either. She finished her college when she was 18. Also I made a thread to see the best way to bring family here in the long run, knowing the long wait times hoping she would be able to visit in the mean time . I wish you all the best on whatever journeys you are going through.

Thanks for all those who gave advice. Its appreciated.

  4. Hello,

Currently we are trying to bring my Sister-in- Law over to visit my wife while I am on a deployment so she can help my wife out with our kids and spend time together. I know she has to have strong ties to show she will be going back to the Philippines, so she has a job at a bank as a financial advisor , she lives with her parents, and helps raise her nephews and nieces. I am not sure if that is enough to tie her back. I was going to give an affidavit of support as well. Would it help if I wrote a letter saying I intend to support her during her stay, as well explain that it will be a big help during my deployment?

Any advice or experiences is very appreciated !

  5. Hello,

I haven't posted in a little while. I hope everyone is doing well! My wife is close to getting her citizenship ( yay! ) . She wants to bring her parents and sister to the states. We know that it is a bit easier to bring to her parents when she is a citizen, however I heard the time for siblings is quite a wait ( up to 20 years ?!? ) With a upcoming deployment we were hoping to get her parents here to help her with the kids while I am gone. She wants her sister to come because they are so close. However her parents are going through some issues with getting their passports together because of the errors in their paperwork. So we were thinking trying to bring her sister on a tourist visa for a few months, then when she goes back, file her parents for a i- 130. That way her sister still has strong bond that ties her to the Philippines when she goes to the interview.

So my question ....is it best for my wife to file for her sister on a i 130 or wait for her parents to come and have them file for their daughter with an I 130, or is the Philippines just that backed up that it may not matter in the long run ? Her sister is currently unmarried and under 21, but turning 21 this year... I don't know if that matters.

I hope to hear some positive news from others trying to get some family members over to the states,

    Very Respectfully

  6. So the short story.

My wife was awarded her green card in march of 2013. I received orders to Korea in May13. These Orders were non command sponsored. We had a 1 year old at the time, one on the way ...So life was going to be tough for her.

I sent her to my parents while I applied for her to come over here with me. I was told by someone I could bring her, and I did not NEED the Command Sponsorship.

I Called USCIS military line to see if this would hurt her, to witch they said since it was Military orders it would be ok and to make sure to change her address. I did that.

I brought my family over no problem , she has a SOFA Visa approved to be here till the time I leave.

Shes been here for a year now... and when i went to get information on how to get her probation off her green card.I was told its possible for her to get denied because she never returned within the year because my orders don't have her name on there. I have been trying to get command sponsorship now since i have been here to get her name on orders... but I have been getting the run around... Still after a year of trying I get something like " We are still waiting" . I extended here and have gone with my wife to visit her family twice now.

So its time to get her probation off her green card. Am I screwed? When I leave in august is my wife stuck going back to the Philippines. Is there any possibility USCIS will have mercy? She has been here with our 2 kids the whole time. We have had a legit bonefide marriage Since Feb 2nd. 2012. We are freaking out right now. . .

Has anyone ever had this situation ? Is there anything I can do ?

  7. Greetings all,

I had a question that possibly one of you could answer.

My wife from the Philippines is now in the U.S with as a Green Card Holder. Recently I got orders to south Korea. Before I moved , I sent her to my mother's house because she can't drive and needed help with the 2 kids. My plans were to bring her here. Originally she was going to come on government expense, but when I got DLA to move her to my mother's temporarily, ( Even though I asked them there if that would effect my wife's travel to Korea in which they answered "NO" ) government funds won't cover her Command sponsorship unless I pay her way here out of my pocket. No problem... except..

Since she does not have military orders will she have a hard time coming and going back to the US? If she comes we will be here for over a year... and will she even be able to enter Korea with just a U.S green card...

If anyone has any experience with this... could you please share your experience and what precautions I should take ?

    Sincerely

    ~Chad

  8. So, let me get this straight: You are trying to get a SSN for your wife, who entered on a K-1 visa a few weeks ago and who you subsequently married. Okay, she is eligible for a SSN based on K-1 and time left on her I-94. If someone says she is now a K-3 they are wrong, and ask for a supervisor.

However, I remind you that she is not authorized to work with just the SSN number. The card will say "valid for work only with DHS authorization," which is something she does not have.

Yup I called the main branch and they said the same thing. This is a very fusterating process. They told me if they know the law , and if I have any doubts just to talk to a supervisor -_-.

  9. Ok , so we are happily married , moved in our apartment , Family loves the wife and so on. We were a bit confused after that of what to do. Luckily alot of Pinoy worked at the local px and she quickly made friends. We thought we had to drop 1000$ for the adjustment right away and were sweating. Her friends told her all they had to do was go to SSN office and get a temporary SSN and work approval for now , no need to adjust right away if we didn't have the money , so we went there , and the guy told us that she entered on a K1 , and is now K3 status because she is married and we need to contact homeland Security to get work approval before she can get a SSN. So now we are completely confused because her friend who also entered in k status said we should of got a welcome letter telling her what to do next , and we never did.... So anyone out there give us a hand ?

  10. I got the marriage cert. and its ready for us to sign when she gets here on friday :). In co , we can marry ourselves , pretty simple. What after wards? Will she be able to use her new last name and such right away or is there other things we need to do with USCIS?

  11. Reason why there are fixers and scammers is because there are people who are willing to pay. She should not have paid 2GO. They receive visas from embassy and deliver it the next day. That is the proper procedure. I got mine delivered right away on my gate.

Yeah , its pretty stupid. They really got her on that one. She thought she wouldnt recieve it till the 2nd and her flight is on the 3rd.

  12. How do I set up the Embassy Interview in Manila?

Do we pay the fee before setting up a time or can we set up a time then pay?

Staying near Robbinson Plaza mall. Where is nearest BPI bank? Do you need a form to take there to pay fee?

Go to BPI with your case number of the NOA2. Its like 246$(around that) for the interview / visa fee. After that it will take like 24 hours and there is a website where you can set the interview up from there.... I don't have it on hand but im sure you can find it in a search on these forums. When my fiance paid , she could of chosen as soon as a week from that point to get her interview.

  13. Jesus! I didn't realise how much she paid them . Appartenly they werent apost to deliver it till the 2nd. they wanted 2000 peso for her to get it early, I told her she got scamed. But she wanted the visa so bad that she gave them her money for the ticket to manila. I am disgusted right now , how can they hold her mail ? I would of punched them in the face.

  14. Unfortunately according to the DOS website Singapore police clearances (COC) for non-singaporeans no longer residing in the country are available. It is the CNCC which is no longer available to non-residents.

Singapore Police clearance according to DOS

This Singapore government website states how to get the COC and they confirm what you said that you will need (among other things) a letter from the US government stating that they are requiring you to get it.

You can try and call the American Embassy in Manila to see if they will issue such a letter prior to your interview so that you can get your COC ahead of time or you can wait until you interview. At your interview they will either tell you the "CNCC" from Singapore is no longer available and therefore waive the requirement or they will tell you to obtain the "COC" which is available to non-citizens who no longer reside in the country. In which case you can ask them for a letter stating that they are requiring the clearance and you can use that to obtain the COC. Usually if a police record is listed as being available on the DOS website your local embassy will require you to get it so my guess is that they will require you to get the COC.

    I stand corrected =/
