  1. I'VE BEEN TRAVELING WITH MY SON TO AND FROM JAMAICA OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS (HE WILL BE 3 THIS SUMMER) WE ARE BOTH USC- HIS FATHER JAMAICAN. THE ONLY THING REQUIRED IS HIS PASSPORT. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY QUESTIONS ASKED AND WE TRAVEL SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR. THEY ONLY THING THEY EVER ASK IS WHY I'M VISITING AND WHO I'M VISITING.

His father is american tho... uninvolved and so terribly american, lol

  2. Good Morning Eagle Eye :star:

I have been going to JA with my US citizen child for many years.

Every time I have gotten a permission slip to travel notarized by his father.

Jamaica will have no problem letting the child in with only their passport, but the airline can request to see the permission slip from the child's other parent.

In 5 trips with my son, only once have I been asked for this letter, but I would hate to need it and NOT have it.

That's what I'm afraid of, consent is not happening in my case. I have yet to receive my son's passport and I applied two months ago. I have full custody by the state being single/unwed at time of my son's birth. However, child's father is on the birth certificate, so then we get the issues by federal govn not recognizing state law, etc etc etc... I wonder if there's a way to call ahead on the airline to ask what their policy is for a minor child/and if they stick strictly to the policy, no other questions asked?

    Flying AirTran btw... August 16th!

  3. Has anyone traveled recently to Montego Bay airport with their small child? I'm in the process of getting a passport for my two year old son and traveling to Jamaica August 16th-31st... I've read that some countries require birth certificates and signed copies of consent from BOTH biologicial parents in order to enter or exit the country. Is this true for Jamaica and re entry to the U.S.?

In other words, do I need ANYthing other than my son's passport for entry and exit from Jamaica and enter the U.S.? His biological father is on the birth certificate but will not be traveling with.

    Any information is greatly appreciated!!

  4. My fellow Yardie family:

I got approved today. I need assistance in what I need to do next. Please help, any guidance/directions is greatly appreciated. Im still so excited at this time, but wanna get the ball rolling. I was informed after the NOA-2 is approved, the other processes goes faster. My question to anyone to answer personally is I will be in Jamaica august 3rd -22nd. Should I anticipate him leaving with me or that not likely to happen?

    CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    wooohoooo!!! :dance::dance:

too much? my bad... as far as timeline, those dates seem near but never know until that interview date gets set you know? then i hear it can take two weeks (correct me if im wrong) to get the visa in hand after interview approved. but really, seriously, CONGRATULATIONS!!

    :)

I will be in ja then too, august is the best time!

  5. I just saw a post about this somewhere in the forums, it listed all that was available and unavailable for pregnant women and immunizations... I'm going to look for it now.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/314452-is-it-safe-to-get-pregnant-after-yr-immunizations/

This is about waiting period after getting immunizations then getting pregnant... I'd say it goes hand in hand with being pregnant and the effects of certain immunizations.

  6. I'm so scared that being unemployed will work against me! I'm praying.

As for the rest, do you think it is wise to include the unemployment information? I mean they want to know my fiance wont be a public charge but right now that's what I am (although not by choice). So wouldnt that be a red flag?

    Somebody help!

As far as you being a public charge, from my understanding they disregard that. Because you are a U.S. Citizen, you are entitled to that unemployment, etc and asking someone from another country to come here and become public charge is where the problem is. This is my understanding anyway... That U.S.C. can be a public charge as long as there's that co signer and all the proofs needed for that and you're good! That's the route I'm taking, I have child care assistance through the county and unpaid school loans in deferrment, it's the way it is out here now. We gotta have legit co signer and it's all good, as I understand it anyway... hope that helped at all?

  7. LOL. ROFL.

As for the question, I don't think they'll deny your application as long as they know what you are saying. Remember they will also have your birth record or passport.

If this helps, you can bypass the nationality part of the question and particularly relate your answer to the citizenship portion. In this instance the question (as related to nationality) would be what country are you a citizen of? That would be the United States of America. I don't remember what I put, but I think USA will suffice.

    Don't worry... I know you're not a country!

haha thanks! I had been questioning my own meaning of existence and grammatical insticts over this ONE FILL IN THE BLANK! :D thanks again Nikki ;)

  8. America is NOT a continent..Please stop....!

You have the first SENSIBLE response... good.gif

I'm finding your response to be rather, well rude to those posting to a question I had. All answers are 'sensible', that's rude to say otherwise, when someone's answering to their best knowledge and you find it best to put them down, that's not nice!!

Some people do refer to America as continent, though not the name found in books, it is "the americas", etc. How about helpful advice instead of personal attacks?:yes::yes:

  9. my fiance and I have gotten a notice on 6/2/2011 that the K-1 application was fwd to the New Delhi embassy from NVC. I called them and emailed them and so far they have no information. I heard from our lawyer that they should have it by now. Any insight thank you!!!!

    Sherry

There's a tab at the top of the website that says "Embassy Info" and it has reviews other members post about each other embassy! I know nothing of New Dehli, but thought that may be a help for you and your's... read all other people's experiences, etc.

  10. You can say american. Anyone who thinks differently doesnt understand that the question is asking nationality and there is no nation called America other than the United States of America. Even if you are of the Americas your nationality would be canadian, brazilian, etc. etc. American fits.

YESSS because to me that's what I'd answer to someone who asked it, instead of saying "u.s.a."; however I can see from a legal standpoint that it's not the full name of this country and then once again I'm stuck going in circles with this! Curious if it's caused RFE's or issues with simply writing "USA" (even though I feel I want to write American, just have to hold back maybe!)

  11. About to send in another week or so. Just want to clarify. Do I send four original bio pages of the G-325A form?

    Mahalo!

I believe you need four throughout the whole 'journey' and taken at different points/forms, but with the original I-129F petition it's one from both parties, along with original signatures on them and passport pic of both petitioner and beneficary. Correct me if I'm wrong!

  12. America is a continent, actually 2 continents.

I am really confused by your predicament, you said that you are a citizen of the "US and A" and then you say that you are not part of the United States of America... really confused here.

If you are a US citzen then put U.S.A. ..... our country is called "The United States of America" after all so "U.S.A." would be correct...

My predicament is that if I'm asked what my nationality is, I wouldn't say to that person "United States of America... I meant to say above that I'm not United States of America, I'm United States of America CITIZEN,

Sooooo I feel by putting U.S.A. I'm answering a question that asks: What are you? And I answer: I'm a country.

    :bonk:

And I totally understand I could be completely overthinking this here, so if I am to put "U.S.A." in the blank that asks "Nationality/Citizenship" is there anyone here that ran into issues with that answer or has a better answer??

  13. I saw this question asked once awhile back but wanted to hear a few more responses as there was limited reply to that thread.

    :help:

Okay, on G-325A form- Fill in the blank: Nationality/Citizenship .... I'm Petitioner and a citizen of the good ol US and A. However I was filling in "American" and got advise that that's wrong. The other thread responses were to put "U.S.A." but I'm not United States of American...

    Soooo am I "American"

    "U.S.A"

and the blank is so small, cannot fit U.S.A. Citizen

    Thanks in advance

  14. they won't give any adults shots at the clinic, if they even do, they won't give all of them. i also lost my immunization card and has to be doing them all over again. i was recommended by a nurse at the clinic to go to the immunization services on eureka road in cross roads kingston.the shots are like half the price you would get them for at a private doc r during the medical.i take two per month as they have to be at least a month apart.i have only two left now to be fully immunize and ready for my medical.

They won't give adults shots at a normal clinic you mean? Did the nurse at the first clinic you went to give you the recommendation for the immnization clinic? I wonder if there's other locations for a immunization services clinic? Fiance is near Ochi... hmmm.

Thanks for the reply, staceluvyou, what shots are they giving you?

  15. Yeah some people get really picky about people from other countries giving advice, on this front it's a bit silly but whatever :P

The TRUTH is the list I gave you is correct. Those are the shots that are required BUT some countries like Mexico don't ask for shots to get the K1, Australia does. The UK doesn't have the varicella shot available in their country so that isn't "needed" at the embassy.

Personally I don't think they would ignore the blood titer (blood titre) but knowing that it's an option and ASKING them is good. So give the doctor a call and see if he'd accept a blood titre showing immunities, he says no, then you know. Here's the doctor list: http://kingston.usembassy.gov/medicalexams.html (you probably already had it). Australia's list also says "immunisation records" and I wasn't aware of the the titre was even an option till someone else told me AFTER my medical.

So yes, countries do some things differently but ASKING if it's an option won't hurt anything and could save you time and money.

    THANK YOU!!! :dance::thumbs::D
