  1. I have no words of wisdom or knowledge but have just read through this entire thread and hope that you will be keeping us posted.

It's soooo important to have threads like this because YES, immigration makes mistakes, and can rip apart families and lives. It's also good to be reminded of the fact that USC or not, we need to know our rights, file our papers, be educated so that we can fight for our rights.

This thread has negatives, yes, I'm overlooking them to see the fact there's people here trying to help in this situation and I hope as an online community we can do just that, help those with questions so that they may become empowered in their own situations, thus uniting families and loved ones. Also, you never know who may get the next burden from USCIS mistakes... It could be you and you could be here asking for emergency help. We are all here because we know what it feels like to have immigration keep your family apart, or the helplessness feeling of not knowing the law fully. We must stick to the common goal of visa journey, helping those on the journey and providing SUPPORT, positive emotional encouragement and factual advice. judgments have NO place and shouldn't be tolerated. If we're not encouraging and we're not providing advice based on FACTS, then stay off the thread goddamnit. Families are hurting and facts need to be found in this mumbled jumbled mess of immigration law.

Good luck katie1990 and I will be following the post for updates!!

  2. This is a great question! I don't have the answer but I can tell you as another petitioner, I recently quit my job to stay at home and my husband works full time... well now he works not much at all as his seasonal work as him laid off.... Anyway we filed AOS in end of April and have yet to be approved or interview appointment although it is taking 8 months through CSC and we could be anytime now.. My gut feeling is that this is a non issue and that your wife to be will be fully capable of working full time to support herself. I think it'd be different if she couldn't and you chose not to. Not a professional response but my personal experience!

  3. I would love an update on this from original poster!

And any one else who may have options for person coming to American on K-1 Visa and in need of insurance without using government funding.

My job will be ending soon, as I'm pregnant I will have emergency aid until husband's work picks back up in the spring time. We have been searching for options for him for short term, basic coverage from October until March or so. From what I've learned, private insurance isn't really all that expensive when compared to what I pay through my work each and every week!

The comment previous to this stated Obama care and changes that will be taking place. Any effect on immigrants??

Health insurance... makes my head spin!!!:wacko::wacko:

  4. Kristina,

The best advice given here I feel is

    1) Focus on you. If you decide that you need more time to know for sure on this man, withdraw the petition and give no reason and let time give you more answers if you need it. If you have reasons to give to Kingston Embassy, report him as fraud and protect those who will come next.

    2) 7 tourist visas- I beg to know HOW this man paid for the fees each time? Asking my (Jamaican) husband his first statement was ''well the man must have 3 or 4 or more woman here already supporting him to get here... but won't try to marry him for whatever reason (only applied tourist visa and never K-1 I'm assuming)'' Either that, or he's a rich man? Jamaica (and many other countries) have a very amount of fraud, particularily men making a living off foreign women and eventually making it to their country, maybe four five six women later but they do reach.

    3) For your baby, there's nothing wrong with not putting the father's name on the birth certificate. I can speak from personal experience. There's nothing wrong with changing your number and forgetting it all, for the sake of you AND your unborn. The two of you (baby and you) can start fresh with a new life.

I speak from first hand experience and experience that I've seen others go through. Feel free to message me. I hope you find calm in the midst of all the storm.

  5. My vaccinations wasn't completed by the time i had my k-1 visa interview, after the interview i completed all my vaccinations. and when i came to the U.S i went to a civil surgeon and they have my updated vaccinations record transcribed on form I-693 and they sealed it, my question is do i still have to send the old incomplete DS:3025 along with the sealed I-693 to the USCIS or i don't have to send form DS:3025 ?

    thanks

We photocopied husband's and sent it with just in case... I do believe that all the civil surgeon does/did should be sufficient but what I've learned most in this process is send it ALL to be safe :)

  6. I will be mailing my wife's AOS packet this week. What is the current Chicago Lockbox Address as I have read it has changed and I want the info going to the correct location.

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=29d841959f607210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

USCIS.gov site listed all new locations!

  7. I've got a quick question about this. What is the e-mail address that you sent the DS-230 to? I assume that you sent it as a PDF file as well?

I am currently waiting to receive packet 3 and I want to be ahead of the game and cut as much 'slack' out of the process as I can. Thanks for the help.

    I have same question as above /\ /\ /\

  8. Are you specifically trying to pick up the visa at the embassy? Or do you just want to pick it up and not have it delivered? If the former, you may want to speak to BangasWife since she actually went back to the embassy. As for just picking it up in general... that's what we did. You can just request pick-up instead of delivery and that can be picked up at either one of the DHL locations (Kingston or MoBay).

    Good luck.

@DARLINGNIKKI whats the upside to picking it up like you did in either Kingston or Mobay? Where do you pick it up at at those locations (post office, specific place)?

  9. More questions... fiance and i are working on getting everything together today now that that Packet 3 is definitely not coming... I've emailed the embassy for a second one sent to me via email and hard copy to fiance.. Do they actually get the emails and send you one?

Also, for the medical in Jamaica fiance needs 4 passport pics? And then 6 more at the time of the interview? Is that correct..?

  10. :thumbs::thumbs:

This is great!! Exactly where we're at now... Kingston was supposed to have sent out Packet 3 Dec 2nd and it hasn't reached fiance so next he's going to try and locate a fax machine that we can use and work with DS230 and emailed embassy yesterday asking for Packet 3 via email and resent through postal mail. I'm kicking myself now though because time's wasting away, wish this was already done...

Question... same as above /\ question about the 6 needed pics- just passport pics right?

Also, the packet states to bring 1040s and W2s- didn't have that along with I-134 didn't think it was needed we can definately update that but did you all need your 1040s and W2s?

Also, what is the DS2000? It lists that as further proof of support??

Finally, police record- does it have to be mailed to embassy?? We have a police record not sealed or sent, it is just the open sheet of paper... Does fiance need to get it seal/sent or both??

SO MUCH INFO! Thanks in advace!

  11. Again, wandering around aimlessly here on VJ because I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO about an adress change when we're in the stage we're in...

NOA2 received end of OCt and NVC forwarding case to Kingston.

Address listed on all documents IS a permanent mailing address for myself (it's my parent's address)

As of Nov. 15th I have a new address as far as where I'm residing... Does Kingston Embassy or any location of USA government need to know of new address?

Or do we wait until fiance is here???I don't want to be doing anything wrong in this process but goddamnit I can't find a single thing that shows how or what to do in the case that the address changes in the midst of the whole process
