Doesn't pass the smell test. Georgia is a right to work state, and the "at will" provisions mean that you can be fired without a reason being stated. Methinks he is looking for an out, and a headline.

I sent a 3 lb pacakge and I knew it would be a lot so I agreed to pay $ 122.00 to ship it to the Phiilippines, priority mail. It was a birthday gift, a pair of nice sandles/slippers she called them and I valued the package at $ 85.00 which is what they cost with tax. The package arrived in the Philippines within 3 days but once it got there, customs pulled it aside and kept it for a week. After 10 days or more they sent sent it out to the apartment she lived in and she had to pay $ 66.00 tax on the goods !!! Is that nuts ? A $ 85.00 ( 3,570 peso) value but a $ 66.00 ( 2,700 peso) tax ?
I guess they need the money.. I hope it goes to good use but I will never send anything again that is valued more than $ 5.00.
You can expect a priority package to take about 2 weeks to arrive based on my experience if you are using Fed Ex because of customs.

Everyone learns this the hard way. You will often pay a 100% customs fee based not only on the valuation of the item but they charge on the cost of shipping also.

Thats good to know! I plan on using Delta too. maybe Kevin will post here later but he was finally told by Delta that after he buys online he needs to go to nearest ticket office with 2 forms of ID etc. Something gets entered in the system. Then his girl needs to verify with Delta in MNL that it is in the system. later she will pay the Phil tax and MNL fees. I have no doubt what you say worked for you without all these steps. I can call delta 3 times and get 3 different answers for any question lol. I guess the worry is without all these steps maybe she can not board. many have told me if she is flying alone she needs a photo copy of my credit card too. I have to get tickets for my fiance and step son next month so will have same issue except I will be flying with them. My best guess is well.....this is the philippines so more than one way can work but you never know when there will be a glitch. How long ago did you buy those? thanks
I bought last year, and did not travel with them. I travel exclusively with Delta a lot (Platinum Medallion). After I bought the tickets, I call the Delta Medallion hot line and explained that my fiancee and her daughter would be traveling from Manila to Atlanta. I also verified with them at that time that it was me who purchased the tickets. No one in Manila asked my wife for a copy of the credit card or any other additional ID. The only thing we didn't know was about the additional tax that is imposed if the tickets are purchased outside the Phlippines.
I have read here that some folks have been asked to provide copies of the purchase credit card, but my family wasn't. I don't know if that was because I use Delta all the time, and used my Skymiles credit card to purchase the tickets, or that I called and tried to make sure there were no problems. The only thing my family did was print out the E-ticket and go to the airport.

I bought the tickets for my wife and step daughter on-line through Delta. There was absolutely no issue, except they were required to pay an additional tax of 1650 PHP each at NAIA because the tickets were purchased outside the Philippines.

The intial reporting by the Atlanta Journal Constitution provided the following:
The FBI affidavit noted that the agency's confidential informant, whose name was not disclosed, is out on bond for a pending state felony charge. The FBI gave the informant a polygraph test during the investigation of the militia group, and the informant gave "less than truthful responses" about the militia group's activities, the affidavit said.
I have not seen it in any subsequent report. You can bet their defense lawyer will pick up on it though. It is in the Oct commentary.

Bottom line, unless the traveler is very wealthy or incredibly lucky a tourist visa is almost impossible. We have a filipino couple visiting now who are wealthy, and both have had B2 visas for years. They wanted to bring their 15 year old daughter this trip and the US Embassy Manila denied her visa saying that if the entire family traveled to the states, there would be no reason to return.
I have a step daughter in the Philippines I have been trying to assist in getting a tourist visa for over a year. Refusal after refusal. I will not give up though, and hope that eventually the Embassy will relent. My US Senator is writing a personal letter of support this time, but he says it usually does not help.
What is really strange about Manila is that there are some families that seem to have no problem getting tourst visas for the entire family. Crapshoot at best.

"Grazers", always say they forgot to pay.

We had a fair number of kids. Lots of mom's accompanying in costume also. Wy wife saw about four moms in Elvira, Scanty witch, and dominatrix attire, and sent me to the room. Lol, one of the mom's asked if we had anything sweet for her. My wife was in charge of the candy from then on.
I was banished to my room to watch Red State on NetFlix.

T-Mobile has really really bad customer service. I switched to Verizon. At&T are owned by the same company now.
I live in GA, and I find Verizon the best. I get service everywhere (and I go to the boonies alot when i drive) and no issues. compared to t-mobile, where i was in the middle of a city, at my neighbourhood pool, and I never got service.
really depends on where you are, ask around. some companys may have more towers in once place than the other. but if i had to adivse anyone..Verizon all the way
This is so true, at least in GA. My wife and I camp and hunt nearly every weekend at our hunting club out in Twiggs county. No provider works except Verizon. Every member of the club (22 folks), switched to Verizon.

The topic is abortion. Herman Cain just pulled the plug on his own candidacy by coming out of the closet as being pro-choice.
Wow, talk about taking something out of context. The quote was not about abortion. The question was about whether or not he would force one of his family members to raise a child conceived through rape or incest.
MORGAN: Abortion. What’s your view of abortion?
CAIN: I believe that life begins at conception. And abortion under no circumstances. And here’s why —
MORGAN: No circumstances?
CAIN: No circumstances.
MORGAN: Because many of your fellow candidates — some of them qualify that.
CAIN: They qualify but —
MORGAN: Rape and incest.
CAIN: Rape and incest.
MORGAN: Are you honestly saying — again, it’s a tricky question, I know.
CAIN: Ask the tricky question.
MORGAN: But you’ve had children, grandchildren. If one of your female children, grand children was raped, you would honestly want her to bring up that baby as her own?
CAIN: You’re mixing two things here, Piers?
MORGAN: Why?
CAIN: You’re mixing —
MORGAN: That’s what it comes down to.
CAIN: No, it comes down to it’s not the government’s role or anybody else’s role to make that decision. Secondly, if you look at the statistical incidents, you’re not talking about that big a number. So what I’m saying is it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make.

Huh?
double tap = shoot twice
one knee gone with first shot - shoot the second knee (a joke)
Of course you shoot center mass.
-
Darn, thirty years in the military and I was taught to always "double tap". That's why you were given two knees.

Remember, USCIS and ICE don't forget. Here is a link to an article about a filipino Dr and his wife who faced deportation after 25 years in the states. Their only offense is that they said they were single when they immigrated when in fact they were married.
-
Point well taken. What I don't understand is how the USCIS person even knew she was sending money home. That is not the kind of question normally asked. If I was asked how I spend my money, I would politely tell them that it is not their concern. I hope the OP comes back and tells us exactly what the refusal was for.

First off let me say sorry to those who I am about to offend in what I'm going to say here. Your first mistake Scott was marrying someone from the Philippines who clearly doesn't care about helping out the husband in working for their future. Your wife is only with you to help "HER FAMILY OUT" and not to help her new family "YOU AND HER". Sure she'll do everything to make it look like she really their to be with you (cook, clean, bend over back wards to do little things you like), but in the end she is only with you to help her family. I am sure if you end up broke she would leave your #### and find someone else that could continue to support only "HER FAMILY". I can see sending 1 or maybe be 2 (would have to be damn important) pay checks a month. But her entire salary for two years is outrageous and stupid on both yours and hers part.
This is probably the most insensitive VJ post I have ever seen. It is none of the governments business how they spend their money. IF my wife worked outside the home (and she doesn't), she could send whatever she wants back to the Philippines. When you marry a filipina, it is no longer HER FAMILY, it is YOUR FAMILY. Anyone who married a filipina better understand their responsibilities to their extended family. No, not eveyone sends money home, but if her husband has no problem with her sending her entire paycheck back home, the government damn sure shouldn't be involved. We are good friends with a filipno american couple who have lived here in excess of 30 years. They have two daughters and one son, all college graduates and now parents. The lady, worked almost all of that time for the US Government and sent virtually 100% of that salary home to her family. They are now retired and have a nice place in Florida, and she still sends money home. She is one of the best mother's I have ever seen, and totally devoted to her family, YET, by your standards, she is a gold digger. I personally didn't marry a filipina to turn her into a western, (everything is mine type of person). Heck, this was even briefed to me by the US Embassy personnel in Manila when I got my Legal Capacity to Marry document. The lady asked me if I knew that I was actually getting an extended family with unspoken responsibilities to them. Never used that document as we went K1 instead, but the message stuck with me.
-
How would USCIS know what your wife did with her money? There is much more to this, and something in either the package you submitted, or the interview (if you had one), triggered the denial.
If you used a lawyer, you need to be on his #### and tell him to do his job.

I have carried lots of food in my checked baggage. Examples: dried fruit (mango's etc), lots of pastries, crackers, cookies etc. I always told the guy at customs what I had, and they never even wanted to see it. For some reason they seem to be more intersted in cigarettes than anything else. They always ask about them, and I don't even smoke.
-
I would not allow my wife to fly without a financial cushion. Probably won't need it but stuff happens. Weather cancels connecting flights, and airplanes break. My opinion is that the traveler should always have enough for a night in a hotel and meals. I think a credit card (if possible), is a better option. The airline I fly almost every week is Delta, and they no longer accept cash for on board purchases (domestically).
-
When we had our interview for my wife and daughter K1/K2, they had the medical records for my step daughter, but not the records for my wife. The interview lady talked to her supervisor and told us that they were not going to hold us up for what was obviously their problem. They were both approved that day.

I can't believe that one year ago today I was nervously waiting at the Atlanta airport for my fiancee and her daughter to arrive. Wow what a fast year. We married four days later, and I love her more every day. She is a true blessing in my life and makes me smile and laugh every day.
So many stories, so many laughs, so many adventures. I never knew that life could be this good.
I wish that every K1 journey was as lovely as ours.
Thanks VJ folks

My wife and daughter each had to pay 1650 PHP ticket tax because I bought the tickets outside the Philippines (e-ticket). Then they had to pay the normal Philippines departure tax 750 php each.
You should carry enough dollars for any incidental expenses you might encounter.
Good luck

Wow, after all the stuff you go through to obtain K1/2 visas, you want to throw them out after 15 days?
You want to send a mother and two daughters back to Columbia after they have been telling their friends and neighbors what a wonderful husband and father you are going to be? Yep, their welcome back home will be warm and understanding.
I don't know what constitutes a "disaster" in your world, but I'll bet your fiancee and daughters know.
Damn after two weeks my wife and daughter hadn't figured out the appliances, and you want to send yours packing.
If thats how you roll, fine. At least provide for them to make their return as easy as possible. The embarassment and cultural issues for them will not be easy, and that is probably the reason they don't want to return home, (yet).
-
They always say two to three months just to be safe and stop the phone calls. My wife's clearance took one month to the day. Japanese Embassy called her when it was ready for pick up.
-
My wife took the DS-160 to the Embassy and they trashed it and gave her the 156 to fill out while she waited.
See the link here, it tells you what you need: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_003.pdf

Man fired for refusing to wear '666'

I live in Georgia and they don'e even have to state a cause. The fact that he is asserting they fired him for an illegal cause does not pass the smell test. They normally just say "we don't need you any longer". If they actually stated the reason he says, any HR dept would be on them like a ton of bricks. I predict he will not prove his case.
