Most of the (mexican) VJ members have done that and its just fine. The only thing is that u need to make sure the copy he will take to the interview is legible. (I.E. U know sometimes when u fax something it gets very dark and hard to read, I hope u know what I mean haha)
Good luck! It took about a week for us to get the letter in the US (we never got it in MX). Since I was in the states I took the original with me back to MX, but a scanned copy will work otherwise (:
