    Of all the steps in the immigration process, the typical I-751 is probably just about the easiest to do without a lawyer. A change of address might be easier, I suppose.

    Still, collectively we may know all about the ease/difficulty of the I-751, but we know nothing about your abilities and talents. Nor do we know about your financial situation. So we can't say whether or not you should use a lawyer. Some people can make careless mistakes that can cause them serious problems, so an extra set of experienced eyes may be useful. For example, if you've read the guides and you still think your wedding anniversary date has something to do with when you should file the I-751, then maybe you need someone to help you through the process.

    Also, if you have an unusual situation, such as a marriage that's on the verge of splitting up, or some other situation where your proof of a bona fide marriage might be in question, it might be wise to consult with experienced counsel.

    Totally agree with this response. Most people should not need help and this is the easiest of all the forms to complete. There are also threads in this area relating to what others have sent in as evidence :thumbs:

    I don't think it's essential if you have lots of other strong evidence. But - at our AOS interview the moment the Immigration Officer saw our mortgage he commented "excellent, this is the best evidence for us and with this you will have no problems when you file to remove conditions" that is honestly the comment he made.

    However I also think the property Warranty Deed showing us as joint owners was just as valuable, so if that's easier to do then why not just do that instead.

    But if you have joint bank accts, savings, credit cards etc....he also commented that it's the financial ties they look for more than anything. So in that instance I would not worry too much about property. We also had Wills and Life Insurance which showed beneficiaries too.

    Once you file with a copy of your green card only, they will send you out an NOA1 (usually unless you're TSC!) and this will state you have applied and your gc is extended for another year whilst they process.

    If you don't get the NOA1 before your gc expires, you have to make an infopass appt and get an I-151 (#?) stamp in your passport that does the same thing - which could be a problem if you are not in the country - maybe? I guess you could go to the American consulate wherever you are, but not sure on this.

    Anyway, I would cross that bridge when you get to it as the NOA1 will probably arrive in time.

    By the way - whatever you do don't send in the Removal beofre 90 days, or they will return it to you!

    I would just like to deal with a few comments/assumptions made here....

    I am not being 'chased out' or 'throwing my toys out of my pram', I am choosing to leave because the atmosphere around here is not that nice anymore and I don't want to be part of that.

    I am not hiding behind a false VJ identity to take digs at other members like Devils Advocate, whose name says all you need to know!

    Sure the site will go on, I wish it luck but there are a few of us who won't be around to impart our knowledge because we are tired of getting flamed or watching our friends get flamed etc

    I posted this topic not for drama but to say how I feel (because I am entitled to my opinion) and why I won't be around. If I hadn't then as in the past when I have been gone for a few days, my friends here would have been PM'ing me or questions would have continued to come in as PM's, this is easier. And why shouldn't get to explain why I am no longer here, I have been one of the more active members for a long time.

    I would like to thank Captain Ewok for not banning me as some of you obviously wish he would, I also appreciate his comments and hope some of you take note.

    I am not advertising another site, I am just going to make a way for those of us that want to, to keep in touch with each other in a non hostile environment. I would still recommend VJ to anyone who was on this journey for all the valuable information in here.

    For those of you that think it has not changed, it hasn't elsewhere on the site, but in here whether you realise it or not, the atmosphere is more aggression than support these days. Some of the comments made on this thread just prove my point!

    I wish you all well, feel free to flame me if you want.....I won't be commenting again!

    Dunno what to say really...because many of you newbies just won't get it....but it ain't the same around here no more and the way you all choose to go at each other or others at the slightest provocation is the reason VJ is slipping.

    So like another very longstanding VJ'er who has left here today...it's time for me to also say 'Adios'.

    To my friends, who know who they are....I wish you the best of everything and if you want to stay in touch PM me. I am going to set up a site for a select few who know how to truly care, advise and support each other. On that site members will be invited, so I guess if you don't get an invite you know your past actions here were not always appreciated!

    To the rest of you....shame on you for turning this site into something many of us no longer want to be a part of....great job guys!

    I had some mini Love Spoons made from my home town in Wales and also Yankee Candles 'wedding day' fragrance.....I put them in pretty pull tie bags... :luv:

    ate my steak and am soooooooo full......... :lol:

    Lynne I have Direct TV and they are on ESPN & ABC.

    I am off to a local 4th July deal in an hour, hubby's band have been playing there for the last few hours...but it was tooo hot for little old Brit me :lol:

    So I am off to see the rest, this is my first 4th July in the USA :thumbs:

    I am gonna wear my Union Jack t-shirt....what d'ya reckon...good choice :whistle:
