I am in Florida and I applied end of August and had biometrics beginning of October, then interview Feb 2 then oath feb. 9th.     Five months is the average but look at where you are and see what the average wait is.  I would guess you will be in the thick of things for the august trip but should be done by October.  I know how it is, who wants to wait to do it.  Just know that you will have to be happy with either asking for a reschedule, or possibly giving up your August trip.  If those don't work for you, perhaps file before your august trip.  You will still have to be available for biometrics approx. one month after you file.   

I was anxious to file mine also and ended up not being able to attend a family wedding at the end of January! I  wasn't about to ask to reschedule.

I'm not sure whether it means they are completely finished everything, but it DOES mean you are passed the biometrics stage.  My status changed to "in line for interview" just a few days after my biometrics was completed and stayed that way until they scheduled the interview, which was about 2 months later.  Then, the status changed to "an interview has been scheduled..etc...you will be receiving a letter in the mail".  A few days later, I received the letter with the interview date, which was about 4 weeks out.  

you are correct, spouse does not have to come. I was asked why my spouse was not there, and I explained his poor health due to back surgery but the spouse does not need to be there.

yes, if applying by marriage, they want to know how many days outside the U.S. in the past three years since your application.

If you go to USCIS.gov, you go to 'TOOLS' then slide over to the left where the drop down says "check your case status online".  the above page will show and you enter your NBC number in there.  then it should give a statement about where your status is at.  It never gives personal information, just a statement as to your status.  For example, when you get scheduled for an interview, it will change to "you have been scheduled for an interview and will receive an appointment date in the mail, etc. etc. "  it will not tell you your date.  hope this helps!  

I just want to thank the August filers, the July filers, and everyone on VisaJourney for all the help ...there is no other place where a person could get the support they get here.   I was approved yesterday, the interview was exactly as expected, and I will have the oath next week. Has anyone been able to apply for their passport right after the oath ceremony?  I apologize this is probably a topic i could search somewhere... been trying...I am just wondering if when doing that, you arrive at the oath ceremony with your passport application and all the documents already in a package?  the pictures and everything?  Or is there an opportunity to have pictures etc. there, because they have a passport 'booth'. Just wondering what other people's experience was.

I AM nervous! I even rented a hotel so that i would not have to do the 70 mile drive in the morning!  Thank you for your information!

Does anyone know when they perform the oath ceremonies at USCIS in Ft. Myers?  I see on the website that they perform 'administrative' ceremonies on a weekly basis, and I assume this means naturalizaton oath ceremonies?  I have my interview this Wednesday and am wondering if I would be fortunate enough to have the oath ceremony the same day?  Thanks in advance...

It sounds long to me. Did you send regular mail? If so, that night be normal, I hope someone else chimes in.  But if you can see that they received it I wouldn't worry. You can always contact them but at least you know they received it. 

My husband will not be with me at my naturalization interview.  Am I expected to bring his original passport as proof of his citizenship?  I have a copy as well as an old birth certificate and am going to bring his actual passport, but was not sure it was required or even legal for me to carry around his passport.  Thanks!  Getting very nervous... interview is February 1 Fort Myers. Does anyone know how often they do oath ceremonies in Fort Myers?

You put the number of times YOUR SPOUSE has been married, including your present marriage.  My husband was married twice and divorced twice before he married me, so I answered "3" for this question.

I was in line from mid october til dec 28 then it changed to interview appointment and then i received the letter jan 4 for interview on feb 1. 

I am not sure where to post this topic...if there is a better place to post it, please let me know?  I have my interview coming up in Ft. Myers, Florida on Feb 1....I am studying all the questions carefully -  I am a senior (60 yrs old! not senior vj member)  and I am really starting to get nervous.  Can anyone who recently went to interview let me know what else I should be prepared to have, I am applying as 3 yr marriage (married in 2011) and I can't bring my husband as he recently had a big back surgery.  I just want to be as prepared as possible.  I have a binder with our previous marriage certificates/divorce papers and the dates I went to canada for visits 3 times in the last 3 years, and a handful of bank account statements and house deed with both our names.  Do I need copies of recent bank statements etc. so they can keep them?  I also have the transcripts for taxes for last 4 years, as were sent to me in the mail. (i provided copies with the application). Did anyone bring photographs of you as a couple for evidence?

As my interview approaches, (Feb. 1, Fort Myers, Fl), I am starting to worry about what evidence I should bring as a 3 year marriage applicant.  What do they actually ask to see?  Do I need to bring evidence of bank accounts, etc., over the past 3 years, or just the most recent papers showing joint ownership of accounts and the house?  Do I need to bring any evidence of travel together or photo's of things we've done together?

i went to Canada after my biometrics in October.  I went for a couple of weeks.  I don't see a problem, just update them when you get your interview appt. on the latest travel.

I answered everything per 3 years (tax transcipts, etc.) but for residency I put the last five years, it was no extra trouble.
