Congrats! I'm very happy for you!
-
Well, here I am, in sunny LA! Actually this afternoon is fog bound but hey!
Anyway, the trip over was wonderfully stress free and POE was totally painless and didn't take very long at all.
One very happy and contended new comer to the USA.
One thing re children.
I went to enroll my son at school today. Unfortunately, despite all my best laid plans to have him fully vaccinated and ready to go when I arrived, the TB test that I had done in the UK had no date on it, so was not admissable, and infact they were fairly certain that he would have had to have another one done anyway and also he had to have a vaccine against chicken pox. So, that was an unexpected $105 bill.
The good news is, the walk in clinic I went to were really nice and are open on Sunday to get the TB test read, so he is all set to start at 8.00 am Monday.
That's another thing, it's going to be odd getting used to the new hours, 8.00 to 1.50!
Still, the school looks lovely so fingers crossed he'll be making lots of friends really soon.
Welcome to the US, Purple_Hibiscus! Good luck getting all settled. I'm sure your son will make lots of friends at school.

We aren't done with the process yet, by any means, but things have been moving along smoothly for us. *knock on wood* Being apart has been really crappy, but it's made our relationship stronger.
I guess if I could change anything, I would have gotten my divorce filed sooner, though money and the cooperation of the ex were issues out of my control. Danny got his visa on 23 January, and he's flying over in March, so he's got plenty of time to get stuff sorted before he moves. I'm glad that we gave ourselves LOTS of time as far as the wedding date. We filed the I-129F in July and planned for a June wedding, giving it nearly a year for processing.
I'm just really happy that we'll be able to start our new life together soon! 43 days!

Just one more sleep, and I am on that plane! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!
Yay! Have a wonderful trip!!!
-
Everything makes me cry, books, songs, movies, commercials. I cry when I'm really sad, angry, happy, any intense emotion.
I don't like to be naked. The only time I'm naked is when I'm in the shower or ummm.... in bed but not sleeping. Then after we're finished, I have to put clothes (at least a tank top and panties) back on or I can't sleep.
I love my car even though it's a 14 year old piece. The seat covers, steering wheel covers, armor-all, antenna balls, air fresheners, etc that I've bought for it in the past 3 years since I inherited it are probably worth 10x more than the car itself. I drive REALLY fast and always wish I could be a race car driver, especially cross-country. I've got a custom bumper sticker on my car that says 'Danny's Girl' and has a union jack in the shape of a heart.

I'm in Missouri, and my Londoner will be here with me in 45 days!
-
Our process took just over 6 months from the day we sent the initial paperwork 'til the day the visa was in my fiance's hand. We went through Nebraska, so I'd think you'll definitely have the visa before August, going through Vermont! Danny's police certificate took the full 40 days to arrive. I'd say it's better to get it early, since it's good for a year. Good luck on your journey!

Okay and this is totally random but do people think you are absolutely nutso crazy when you tell them you are marrying a Brit you met online?
I live in a small town, and I thought people might be very judgemental about it, but they're not. Mostly they are curious about what he will do for a loving here, since the job market isn't the greatest. And everyone's always surprised that he won't be able to work right away. This is a military town, so there are a lot of mixed-nationality couples, maybe that's why people don't seem to have much of a problem with it?
45 days!

Congrats! Have a safe trip and a happy wedding.

I've been telling myself for ages that I'm done having kids. And I really am!
But...
well...
I'm happy for all of you and I hope you don't mind me lurking.

I guess my feelings run toward the 'hopeless romantic' side of the spectrum. Then again, I've never had money, real estate, assets, etc. Maybe if I had lots of money, I'd be concerned about 'protecting' it. I don't think I'd be that way, but I really can't say for sure. I've been through a divorce, with a kid, so I know firsthand how awful it is. I don't ever want to go through another divorce, but if I did, I'd be much more upset about my broken heart than deciding who gets the car.

I sent in our paperwork in mid-June and Danny had his interview 20 January. We didn't have an RFE. We both thank our lucky stars for our fast processing time and lack of problems (thus far)! *knock on wood*

I've never had such an amusing language issue, though there was a tense moment with my future MIL over the 'fanny' definition once. Luckily it was sorted quickly! My fiance takes the piss about the way I pronounce certain words, like 'butter' and 'water', but I know he thinks my accent is cute.

Wow, sorry for getting all emo in here last night! Thanks for indulging me and not treating me like the freak I am at times. I'm sure ya'll understand how lonely one gets after months away from your SO. Anyway, carry on, don't mind me.
46 days!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine.

Very cool post! Thank you! My fiance and I have been very lucky through this process, but it's still hard to be half a world away from the person you want to be with constantly! I think that this has brought us closer together, we love each other and are willing to be apart for now, knowing it's only a matter of time!
VJ is awesome, and has helped us immensely. I recommend it to everyone who will listen! I wish everyone here the best of luck!
-
Good luck!! Have a wonderful time and let us know how you get on!

Got mine when I was 22, after I had my kid! I was scared to get my license, but after going through childbirth, my attitude changed. If I can do that, I can do anything! Heeheehee

***Disclaimer: I'm having a rum&coke for the first time in quite awhile! Apologies in advance for mushiness!
***I just want to say Thanks for all the advice that I've received in this community over the past 6+ months. I really loved the 'London Interviews' thread, and I'm grateful for the 'London Graduates' thread as well. For whatever reason, I'm not popular here, I guess I haven't been around enough to be part of the 'in crowd'. But I do appreciate all the info available to me, and I like seeing familiar faces.
Danny and I are getting married toward the end of our 90-day window. We are looking forward to a break from the immigration b***sh** for a few weeks, but we will definitely need some advice for all the AOS stuff. I'm glad ya'll are here.
I'm a member of a 'Brits & Americans' group on another site, and I always recommend VJ to people who are interested in learning about bringing their SO to the US!
I wish the best of luck to everyone here.
