  1. I am the guardian of two teenagers and I just found out today that their permanent resident card or I-90 has been expired since February 2014. The first teenager just turned 18 today, June 16, and the other one is turning 17 in September. Now, I'm not sure what to do. Should I have the 18 years old file for citizenship or both or them to renew their I-90. I know we have to renew their I-90s as soon as possible. I need ideas out there. Please help me. Thanks.

  2. Please HELP! Need advise ASAP!

My cousin and her 2 kids who are now 16 and 15 are still permanent resident card holder. They were petitioned by my cousins Dad in January of 2004. Unfortunately my cousin has cancer and we don't know her fate. Now the problem is, the kids are not yet citizen, if something happens to the Mom, are they going to be deported? What can we do to avoid future problems with their status. The kids wanted to be an American citizen and they want to live here as much as possible.

Thank you all for your help!

  3. Anybody here experienced to redo fingerprinting after interview and submitting additional requirements to USEM? My mom had her interview on Sept. 15 but USEM needs more documents in order for them to approve the visa, additional documents were submitted the next day. Almost one month passed,USEM now informed us that my Mom needs to redo finger printing. This is not a joke, why they never made sure that they captured her fingerprints correctly in the first place? My parents live in Ilocos Norte, very far from Manila, now she needs to go back to Manila just to have finger printing, it's ridiculous and very frustrating. Please I need information from those who experienced this. How long is the wait again. Really appreciate your responses. Thanks.

  4. My fiance and I filed our petition last June 22, 2011 and got our approval 84 days after that. We received the NOA2 and we got our MNL no. We know that we can able to schedule my interview and medical while I'm waiting for his income supported documents, etc. The problem is, he resigned from his job at this moment and still not securing any employment letter from his company. I don't want to call for schedule of medical and interview if I can't able to provide the said certificate.

    1. Will this affect our visa application?

    2. If we cannot able to get employment certificate, can we request for extension until he can find a new job?

Get a co-sponsor, make sure he passes the poverty guidelines or if he has a bank account that will help too.

  5. Kabayan iMean,

NO RECORD ON FILE is actually good. It means no criminal record. The reason probably that she is required to get a new one as you said is that she has namesakes which is common in the Philippines or the old NBI clearance is expiring soon. It is good for 6 months only. It is good tho to have a new one so that those in the airport immigration wont find a reason to make it hard for her to go out of our country. I heard stories from friends that sometimes our immigrantion would ask for NBI clearance because they say you have criminal record. Alam mo na, red tape.

I learned that if your NBI Clearance says "NO RECORD ON FILE" meaning you HAD record but cleared out that's why the embassy asked her to complete the 221g form, but if it says "NO DERAGATORY RECORD" that means it's all good. My mom has the first one and my dad has the second one.

  6. iMean: what's the problem with your MOM's NBI?

Unfortunately someone used her name but it was clarified before we requested NBI clearance, her clearance says "NO RECORD ON FILE" and i just realized that this means trouble. Even if you passed the interview, they will tell you to complete a form and get another clearance from NBI. It's almost 1 month after their interview and until now they haven't gotten their visa, last week they said still in process. I hope they will get it soon.

    Good luck kabayan,...

seems the typhoons has affected some of the processing times,

    but you'll get there,...

thank you! I wish they will get it soon.

  7. Hello!

Can I as what is your actual status when at the uscis when you filed for your parents petition? Can Green Card holder with condition file for parents??

    Thank you for your responce!

I'm American Citizen. Either Permanent or Conditional Resident cannot file petition for parents, you have to be an American Citizen in order to file the petition, I knew it because I inquired about this when I was a green card holder.

  8. Any Ideas why US Embassy in Manila is taking forever to release visa?

My parents had their interview on September 15 but until now they did not get the visa yet. After the interview both of my parents pass the interview but when they went to set up the delivery of the visa, they had problem with my mother's NBI, so they asked her to get another clearance and send it asap. So she did it, but until now we haven't heard anything yet. Is there anyway I could contact the embassy to follow-up? Thank you all for your response.

  9. Please HELP!!! We need your opinion!

My cousin is filing for her naturalization (N400) but she has dilemma on the change of name portion. She is married 5 years ago to a non US Citizen and did not change her name until now and now she wishes to bring her husband to US (Hawaii). Here are my questions:

    1. Is it better to change her name now thru N400 or later after citizenship?

    2. If she will change her name, how long the process of citizenship will take?

    3. If she get citizenship with her current name, can she still petition her husband with her current name?

    4. What is the fastest process she can do for citizenship and filing a petition for her husband.

Thank you so much, really appreciate all your answers!

    Mary

  10. IN WHAT OCCUPATION DO YOU INTEND TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES? My answer: To be determined. (Am I correct?)

I think that's fine, but you can put any job that you would want to do.

#43b. DO YOU WANT THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION TO ASSIGN YOU A SSN ANS ISSUE A CARD? YES NO MY answer: Yes (Am I correct?)

All of my answers in #40 to 43a is NO... But the #43b got me confused.

    That’s correct, YES

Do I have to staple my DS230 form as well as my kids forms?

I got a lot of documents that I have to attach that's why I don't want NVC to miss or misplace some of my original docs.

Paper clip is better and it to have a cover letter with all the list of documents is very helpful but not necessary.

Do I have to send two folders to NVC? 1 One for the DS230 and Original docs.... and 1 one for all the photocopies (DS230 and docs) OR just DS230 form and original docs (birthcertificate, police clearance, NBI clearance etc) and photocopy of our passports

Just send everything in one envelope, separate originals and photocopies. Btw, you don’t need to send a photocopy of DS230 plus make sure you put your NVC case number on all the documents.

What do you think the best courier in sending this important documents in NVC? LBC?

If you’re sending it from the US, US postal is fine and make sure the registered one. If you’re from the Philippines, Fedex is better, fast and safe.

  11. Please Help!

NVC sent email stating that DS230 is incomplete for applicant residences. I resend the DS230 form and just realized that instead of putting month and year (mm-yyyy) I only put year. I wonder if NVC will accept this or should we just send another form with complete date (mm-yyyy) just to be sure but the problem is my parents don't remember what month they moved. Please advise. Really appreciate it!

    Thank you guys!

  12. it's true, you don't have to renew your EAD now that you have your conditional permanent status/greencard. Just make sure you apply to remove the condition on your permanent status before it expires. BTW, keep your joint bank statements and anything documents/evidence showing you are living together, you will need it when filing for permanent status. TC.
