Im really looking forward to some of the simple pleasures of life. While of course making love is on the top of the list, Just to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie, share some popcorn. Wash each-others back in the shower. Going for walks, going to the beach, sitting in front of the fire roasting hotdogs and marshmellos. and more and more love making

HappyInHawaii reacted to Mr. Big Dog in Democrats seek to slash subsidies for 'Big Oil'
Corporations will never let an opportunity to fleece consumer go by unused. That doesn't mean that we should continue to subsidize them in the hopes that we'll be subjected to perhaps one fleecing less. When these subsidies were put into place, oil was fetching a small fraction of what it fetches today. The issue then was that oil production may not be feasible in the US anymore putting thousands of jobs on the line. At that time, it certainly was in the national interest to find ways to keep the companies producing here and to keep people employed. At $100.00 a barrel, I think the companies can manage w/o that assistance. The profits they book would clearly suggest that they can.

HappyInHawaii reacted to Little_My in Texas Passes Bill to Require Sonograms Before Abortions
The Republicans of this country get all upset and on barricades whenever there is a threat of "the government invading the privacy of an individual person's life and/or home" - because, after all, what goes on in one's home is none of the state's business.
However, apparently it is perfectly fine for the state to interfere with a woman's uterus and actually with the rest of her living life, since having a child is a commitment for a life time. It is perfectly fine for the state to order the woman to have a sonogram before being able to get an abortion, it os perfectly OK for the state to pressure women out of their personal decisions, it is perfectly OK to suddenly mix religion with politics when it comes to this particular matter, even though there supposedly is such a thing as "separation of church and state" in this country. It is perfectly fine for the state to tell women that abortion is not acceptable, while at the same time the state is not willing to offer any kind of support, financial or social, to expecting mothers in terms of maternity leave, maternity benefits, or job security.
    Yep. Sounds progressive to me.

HappyInHawaii got a reaction from Jenn! in Study: Illinois, Washington and Texas are best states to make a living
Hawaii is ranked dead last - Its the worst state to make a living.
As Lisa would say - oooooooohhh noooooo, hehehe
I guess its a life style choice. Real life here is not easy. Most newcomers only last 2 -3 years before they move back to the mainland.
Its Hot, expensive, hard to get stuff (equipments, supplies and parts), high taxes, and oh did I mention expensive? Lacking quality schools and infrastructure. Hawaii - 1st recession and price rise - last for Recovery and price adjustment. A lot of price fixing here because politically protected corporations can and we have no other choice. Im done venting hehehe.
I live in the country, so we are blessed with virtually no crime, plenty of room to raise kids and try fulfill dreams.
Since all this reminded me why Im here in Hawaii, IM going to plan a small camping trip with my kids next weekend. I cant wait for Lisa to be here too and enjoy life togather. Peace n Love D
