Mine was just a computer printout on plain paper.

Hurrah! When are they leaving for the US?
-
I had to have a background check for my present job. The company I am working for uses a third party to do background checks and, because I am working with children, they do a search internationally as well. I had been in the US for coming up to two months at that point and the first time they did it the check failed because there was an error with the formatting of my name on my SSN card. Once I had that corrected everything went through.

Congratulations, that is great news.

When you arrive you will be given a stamp in your passport that acts as a temporary Green Card. Your actual card should arrive in the mail within 6 weeks. You are free to travel with either.

I think your interview will be scheduled for October but it might be possible to bring it forward. Check this thread that I followed when we were waiting for our date. It's a long one but they start talking about bringing dates forward on Page 5 and I think a number of them succeed in doing so.

Congratulations!

You're forgiven.
Congratulations by the way!

I think you will be ok. I had an issue at Atlanta the last time I visited before we were married. I was taken into secondary processing and questioned but my return ticket seemed to convince the officer and he let me in, although with a warning that I would not be allowed in again on the VWP.
One way to be certain without having to do a transatlantic crossing would be to take a flight via Ireland. You can do POE at Irish airports.

You have to include a copy of your marriage certificate in the package so you must be married.

http://london.usembassy.gov/document_checklist.html#birth_certificate
Birth Certificate: Obtain the original, or certified copy, of the birth record of each family member (yourself, your spouse, and all unmarried children under the age of 21, even if they are not immigrating with you. If the children are deceased, so state giving year of death). The certificate must contain the following:
Person's date of birth;
Names of both parents; and
Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records.
Note: We will not accept the short form version of a UK birth certificate. The certificate must list both parents'names.

It looks like your case has been auto-expedited as you are both living abroad. That seems to be happening often now. Join Saylin's thread and read the guides she links to in her first post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/380887-nvc-filers-august-2012/
There is a template on here which you can use to email in the DS3032. That could save some time: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form
Good luck on the rest of your journey.

I don't think it's true. They sent me an email on July 30th saying my interview was on August 2nd. However I did put in my covering letter I could take an interview at short notice.
I've noticed the Embassy seem to be giving appts for about a month after receiving the DS2001 form.
I agree with you that it's probably not true that interviews are only scheduled in the first two weeks of the month, but the OP is doing the spouse visa so her interview will be scheduled by NVC, not the Embassy.
I read Stu4Lee's thread. Wow, that is unusual for London but a warning to all I guess to go prepared with at least some evidence.

The medical expires in 6 months because of the X-ray. Not 1 year.
http://london.usembassy.gov/faq-imm-proc.html#iv062 Found there, third from bottom.
I have just seen that on the instructions for the medical but I think it must be new so some people may not be aware of it. When I did mine there was no mention of six months and in fact, when they first discussed my issue over my x-ray, they said that the likely outcome would be that my results would only be valid for six months, as opposed to a year. I have just checked the information sheet that I downloaded last year and it does indeed say that the results are valid for 12 months:
Why I am being asked to schedule the medical examination when the Embassy has not yet scheduled the visa interview? The medical results will be valid for 12 months and it will help to speed up the final processing of your application if we have received them before the visa interview, however, it is not compulsory.
They have snuck that change in but it could be quite significant for some people, especially if they plan to do the medical as soon as they can.

My interview was scheduled on the last day of the month.
I took plenty of evidence but wasn't asked for any of it. That seems to be generally the case for London. Have you read the reviews?

My husband got his certificate at the oath ceremony. That was in Atlanta.

Mine took two days as you can see from my signature. However, that was last November and I have read a few threads recently indicating that it is taking a bit longer at the moment. They will tell you 7 to 14 days.

Thanks, Cathy2904. I have not had the MMR either for the same reason. Am I required to have that? I have had the individual rubella vaccine and I have had both measles and mumps as a teenager.
You have probably found the answer to this by now but yes, you will have to have MMR. As you probably know from when your children were given it, it is given in two doses four weeks apart. Apart from that I just had boosters for diptheria, tetanus and pertussis. I didn't need flu but, as Holly says, there are plenty of places you can get it in the autumn and it's not too expensive. Your own GP might give it to you on request if you are willing to pay.
Remember that the chicken pox (varicella) vaccine is not available in the UK so if you tell them you have had chicken pox they will tick that one off.
-
Holly is right about getting tetanus boosters if they are needed, but they won't be interested in whether or not you have had continuous coverage as long as it is current.
I had to have MMR because I am too old to have had it as a child. I had it done at my GP's practice and they didn't charge me.
-
The records will not be time sensitive so you can get them any time. My GP's receptionist printed mine off while I waited. I was amazed how far back they went - over 50 years!
-
No, they will just issue an RFE. They might even just tell you to take it to the interview - it depends what it is. Just make sure you send the original documents to NVC. They will be returned at the interview.
-
I think that you, and maybe the immigration lawyer, are getting confused between the different processess for the spouse visa and fiancé visa. With the spouse visa, the documentation, including the DS230 and the AOS, is all collected by NVC. Once they have everything they need they will assign you an interview date and forward all the paperwork to the Embassy. With the fiancé visa, the application just passes through NVC briefly, is assigned a case number and is then forwarded to the Embassy. So you do not need to complete the DS-2001- NVC will tell you when you are ready.
You will need to take copies of the paperwork with you to the interview in case anything has gone astray but it should all be in your file.
Check this link for the NVC flowchart for the IR1/CR1: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Process_Flowchart_v1-2.pdf

CR-1 and not iving together...

Those are just examples of evidence you might provide, not a list of what you need to provide. We did exactly what you are proposing (see my signature). When we filed we had only been married for a month or so and we had not lived together so all we were able to send was three affidavits from people who knew us as a couple. We were approved with no problems. The UK is considered a low fraud country so the evidence requirement is much lighter than for certain other countries.
