HighlandScott reacted to appleblossom in Is it mandatory to use the courier service to send my passport to US Embassy London?
You have to use the courier service for other visas (https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visa-faqs/courier/), I would imagine the B2 will be the same I'm afraid.

Kinda talkin' to myself here lol...but maybe it'll help someone in the future.
It turns out the Embassy just went right ahead and booked us an interview date without waiting for any medical results. As I mentioned above, I brought forward my medical to 14 Sep (wednesday just passed - all went well). Well the Embassy sent me a letter on the same day that I received today (no link between that happening and the medical) with an interview date of 27 Sep - so the expedite really did work and saved us somewhere between 3-6 weeks going by the dates other (non-expedited) people are getting.

I'm not qualified to answer your question- I'm only making my big move to the US in the next month or two. I've visited the US several times though and generally agree with all the usual comparisons from what I've seen so far.
That is our long term plan. I met my wife in Scotland. She has visited many many times (of her own accord...long before meetig me) and loves it there. Other circumstances mean it's best if I move to the US to begin with.....maybe for 10 years....maybe less, maybe more, but one day we'll be back in the Scottish Highlands for sure, their call is too strong.....when I'm in the US, I'm quite sure I'll be wishing I was back in Scotland sometimes....

    Agreed!

HighlandScott reacted to kevin@anna in id like to see k1 process made harder
we have allready done the k1 etc etc.we are now removing conditions.i for one would like to see this whole process more stringent than it already is.we have our circle of friends whom are all k1 holders and ive closely watched all of them and there marriages.first,i would like to see more up front than just meeting 1 time within 2 years.second, this 90 day to marry must be extended to at least double (180 days)third,i believe that the income levels of pationers should be much higher than 125% of poverty level.we all have to admit the process is already long.uscis can only do so much when it comes to paperwork and background checks.but in all reality it is up to the petioner and the k1 visa holder to make a marriage that will last a lifetime.im gonna stick my neck out here and say i personally believe that only 40% of these marriages last any length of time.dont get me wrong i am happily married to a wonderful women and weve been together now a full 2 years.but looking back it sure was very tough.any comments welcome?
