After I filed for my fiance, he moved. We are still waiting on our NOA2. I called USCIS to try and change his address. They said they do NOT change addresses for those outside the US. Is that correct? I have email/text notification so all info will come to me anyway but want to make sure I don't need to change his address now. Thanks in advance for any input.
I had the same situation before. I was working in Seoul, South Korea when my fiance filed for K-1 visa. We used my address and consulate in Seoul. We were waiting for our NOA2 when I moved to Philippines. My fiance mailed a letter to USCIS informing them of my change of address and consulate. Don't forget to state your receipt number, beneficiary and petitioner's name in your letter and the new address of the beneficiary. Hope this helps.

I'm filling out my fiance's DS-156 and I have some questions.
14. National Identification Number - What is this?
20. Name and Address of Present Employer or School - She just resigned her job and will be done this week do I still need to fill this out or leave it blank (Keep in mind she is working in Jordan but is a citizen of Philippines and is interviewing in Phil)
22. When Do You Intend To Arrive In The U.S.? - Give an estimated time or leave it blank?
Barcode - Do I put our case number here?
25. Name and Telephone Numbers of Person in U.S. Who You Will Be Staying With or Visiting for Tourism or Business - This is for a K1 do I fill this in or leave it blank?
26. How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S.? - How should this question be answered?
Thanks in advance.
Please refer to this link for sample form of filled DS-156 http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-DS-156.pdf. If she is presently unemployed, just put "none". You can put an estimated date of arrival if it is known and don't put anything on the barcode. For no. 25; it should be your address (petitioner) and contact number. For no. 26; I put "permanently" and purpose was "marriage and relocation to the US". Hope this helps. Goodluck.

Filing K-1 visa, and i know you need police clearance if you lived abroad for more then 6 months. My question is this has any filipina worked in Saudi, and if so did you file for police clearance.Saudi Arabia is on a list that they don,t provide police clearance.I just want to make sure that this won,t be a problem with the embassy in Manila, if you don,t have one. Thanks

Saudi Arabia does not issue Police Clearance if one is already out of the country. My friend had his interview last week and he did not bring police clearance from Saudi Arabia where he used to work for 2 years. He got approved.

I think he has serious mental problem..1 min he loves you then next min he don't care.as i am reading your story I know there's something wrong with this guy!
I agree...he sounded like my fiance's ex-wife...BPD or Behavior Personality Disorder.

St. Luke's can allow you to handcarry your sealed Medical Results, granting you won't have any problems with your medical.

hehehe,,I guess they thought you have all the money in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought so. You're always talking about all the money you're spending for your 'girl' and her family in this website. After all, you're DA MAN, right? I am actually expecting a scanned copy of all the receipts from you after that TGI Fridays dinner with her family.
You talk too much. I am hoping you are getting all the attention that you desperately need - whether it's good or bad - it's still attention, right? And you are obviously in need of it.
Goodluck to Gretchen.
You're right...he is very arrogant...yet, he has ignorance also

We graduated the same year. No you don't need additional classes. The 4 sections of CPA exams are Financial Accounting and Reporting(FAR), Auditing(AUD), Business Environment Concepts(BEC) and Regulation(REG).
FAR-same as our financial accounting except for government and non-profit accounting
AUD-same as our auditing theory with ethics
BEC-composed of subjects such as economics, financial management, cost accounting, information technology..etc.
REG-federal taxation(individual, partnership & corporation), ethics related to taxation & business law(contracts, sales contracts, agency, insurance, etc.)
The only good thing about the US CPA exam here is you can take one section at a time. You should visit www.cpanet.forum for more information that will guide any US CPA candidate.
Thank you so much for the information. Just want to know your opinion...which is better to easily find a good job in US...being a CPA or have Masters Degree? Been wanting to choose between the two. Thanks again.

No, our accounting units are enough to qualify to take the CPA exams. Just have it evaluated. The list of companies that can evaluate your transcript and diploma is in the website of California Board of Accountancy. Look for the "new applicants" section. The exams are divided into 4 sections. I studied for almost 2 years and have to pass the other sections within 18 months when I passed the first section or else my score gets forfeited. It took me that long because I have a newborn at that time. If you don't have a job right now you should study and take the exams first so you will not have so much stressed studying, working and having a relationship with your family here in the US at the same time. You might want to start looking into it now because I think the they will increase the required units by 2014. By then you might have to take additional accounting classes.
Do you think I still need additional units? I graduated in Accountancy in 1996. Been a long time
I have a bestfriend who lives in Canada and she told me the CPA exams there are similar to that of US. She said it's easier compared to our CPA here because they only cover certain specialized field. Unlike here where it covers all from Taxation, Law, etc. She took one specialized in Auditing and she failed. So she took another one specialized in Management Accounting and she passed. She's a CMA in Canada now. Do they have the same there in US? Thank you.

Congrats to you also I'm so glad this is almost over..she is in Iloilo if that helps on a guesstimate:)
I was interviewed last August 26 but no visa yet. I called the Embassy September 6 and they told me my docs were still with the Consul who interviewed me. I sent them email same day and i got a reply September 7 saying that my visa was issued that same day. Hopefully I will have my visa next week. I arranged to pick it up at SM Iloilo.

Gee... a lot of foreign expats living in the Philippines says that filipinos have more freedom than most people in the world... we may not have divorce but we have legal separation and annulment. Divorce is okay, but I am also okay if we do not have that law... just make us value marriage more and think not twice but so many times before getting into it...
-
Oh ok thanks for let me know about it. I sent an email to find out and they sent a automatic email they get back to me in seven days. By that time I will know the visa might be sent already.
I got the same auto reply from them but after a day, they emailed me that my visa was issued September 7.
-
Good to hear that!
Did you emailed them and they emailed you back?
i called them tuesday and told me it's still with the Consul who interviewed me. Then I emailed same day and got a reply yesterday that it's been issued already. The email address i used was ivmanilareplies@state.gov. Don't forget to quote your case number and petitioner and date of your interview.
-
Did you got your visa yet?
Nope...still waiting but i got an email from embassy that they already issued my visa yesterday, Sept. 7. Hopefully i can have my visa next week.

I'm a fan of Ferdinand Marcos. I think he is the most intelligent president the Philippines has ever had.
I agree
He topped the bar exams during his time. And in fairness to Imelda Marcos, she's the most elegant first lady in history.

It should be the pay stubs for the last 3 months before your interview. That's what i submitted.
I had my interview last August 26 and i submitted my fiance's May to July pay stubs.

Your best bet would be to work for one of the Big 4 (EY, Deloitte, KPMG or PwC) and then request a rotation to the US. I know that in California they are always expanding the Accounting field, but keep in mind that when there is an economic downfall - professional services firms are the first to layoff people. I know from personal experience that in '09 they downsized the KPMG office in Silicon Valley and SF by about 25% which is A LOT. I can imagine it was the same with other Big 4.
And since you will be on rotation - this means you will be one of the first to go. Not trying to discourage you, but definitely something to keep in mind!
If you can't get into the Big 4 you can also try smaller accounting firms like Grant Thorton etc. of course if they exist in your area.
But shoot for the highest because the goos thing with the Big 4 is their global network of people and rotation program.
Correct me if i'm wrong...but i think CPAs from Philippines cannot practice their profession in US. They can work in the accounting or finance field but not as CPAs. They should be a US licensed accountant to practice.

Oh dont worry. Did they ask for any additional docs from you? The young blonde woman interviewed me and my fiance. I was nervous at first since we were told to go to window 68 ( not sure hehe) it is small room with 2 chairs inside and same type of window from where we were interviewed by the prescreener. After the interview, we waited outside and were called by window 72 (not sure again hehe) and told us no docs are needed and wait for my visa at home. Did they tell you the same thing?
Yes...they told me the same thing. Thank you.
-
Maybe not. I told them I intend to leave early Jan 2012.
Now I'm getting worried
by the way, during my interview, only two consuls were available...the young man and woman...the young man interviewed me. How about you?
-
at least they have issued the visa
just wait and have a little more patience.
God bless!
i called the embassy today and the lady said my docs and passport are still with the Consul who interviewed me. She told me to call again on thursday or friday. i heard also that the embassy prints and delivers visas depending on when the beneficiary intends to leave the country. i don't know how true and if this what causes the delay...i put somewhere in the DS form that i intend to leave October 28.
-
hi guys,
can you share with us the questions that were asked duting your interviews? thanks! and goodluck!
I had a very short interview...less than 3 minutes. The Consul just asked me my petitioner's name, his job and how many kids he has. He also asked about my job and if I plan to work in US. He then asked for photos...he just scanned it and then said...okay, i will approve you visa. Goodluck on your interview.

Hi Vj's Let me air this to you about this situation after the interview the CO said your VISA is APPROVED then the last window said you have to wait your VISA at home and he said
so means no problem no additional docs. was asked, thanks
but it's been 10 days after which the regular delivery for VISA and so far had not received, so calling the USEM was the best way and they said it' still on Admin.processing. confusing the CO said APPROVED but seems not" Any comments about this dear VJ's, Your comments and reactions is highly appreciated.
I have the same situation. I was interviewed August 26. The CO said same thing to me (VISA is approved) and the last window told me to just wait for my visa to be delivered. No visa until now. I didn't call the embassy though. I am planning to call tomorrow. I hope there is no problem because they will surely call if there is any.
