Hello everyone, my Fiance is finalizing the documents I need for my upcoming interview. Before he will send it to me thru DHL, just wanna make sure everything is fine. So kindly advice us if we are doing right
These are the documents he intends to send ASAP:
1. Form 1-134, Affidavit of Support - original copy, signed, but handwritten in black ink
- on the income part :
- Fiance answered his annual income from his 2 jobs (he makes OVER the income
requirements, thank God)
- left blank with other spaces like life insurance, bank deposits, real state, etc)
2. IRS Tax Transcripts - 2010, 2009 and 2008 - photocopy only (will this be Ok?)
3. Pay Stups / Checks - showing current income latest 3 months only -- photocopy only
4. Fiance's updated letter address to the US consulate in Manila that he intends to marry me ASAP after arrival to the US, then he also explained in the letter our mode of communication as we talk daily through magic jack, regular emails, mobile phone using phone cards here in the Philippines...
I don't have phone bill/s to show our constant communication as I'm using pre-paid phone. We talk a lot everyday through magic jack and mobile phone using phone cards here in the Philippines as these are very economical. I have lots of used phone cards though to show..LOL !!!! My Fiance calls me most often also but we try not to talk longer if he is using his cellphone unless it is really an emergency or if we do get choppy signals from magic jack. I'm quite worried about this... will the used phone cards accepted as evidence? Lol, hopefully they would ! though I will be showing to them some of our emails.
Anyway, I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Just wanna make sure everything is in order before we finally set our interview date.
Thanks everyone and God bless !

Just wanted to ask for opinions here what a simple wedding should cost in the province, small town.
We plan to have a simple ceremony in the Catholic church which will last about an hour. The church charged us over $400 for 1 hour with flower decorations and no reception.
On top of that fee the church also charged my wife 8,000 pesos for her Catholic confirmation. To me it seems excessive for those charges. Surely the local people can't afford that cost to be married in the local church.
My wife is looking for a venue, restaurant for the reception and party for family. We also need to rent clothes for the bridesmaids, groomsmen and myself. Get a photographer etc.
I tried to get a quote several times from my wife at least a ball park figure but she hasn't been able to yet which makes it difficult for me to have a clue what our expenses will be. She said she would let me know in a few more days.
We were already married over a year ago. This is just a ceremony for her family that could not join us in the US of course.
If someone can give me an idea of what to expect that would be helpful. Our expenses are crazy right now before our trip costs and additional expenses.
Thank you..
why so expensive for a catholic confirmation? my uncle is a catholic priest and the church only charges very minimal. priests don't demand for their services...just donation and like 300 pesos per sponsor or ninong/ninang.

what if you lived out of the phils for over 6 months, over 7 years ago?
Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s website at http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html.

Thanks sis for your time to comment/suggest. I guess it would be better if I will just wait til the visa get approved! or I might put on an AP..not sure but possible , depends on Consul
I think you should bring both passports...old and new.
-
hi! i just read your post....wanted to ask how your interview went? did they accept your old clearance? thanks!
I have my NBI clearance dated February 1, 2011...this is good for 1 year. Will this be okay to the embassy? Thanks
-
We got our interview date but its not as soon as we would like it...Is there a way to change it? and how?
thank you !!
how did you schedule your interview? if you scheduled it online, you can always log in with the same username and password when you scheduled your interview and just click the "reschedule" interview. you will then receive a new confirmation through email.

thank u so much for the info.
it's two days in Manila. Here is St. Luke's guide :
-
I got my NBI clearance started today.
there was a sign that said it takes 30 working days.
has anybody gotten their NBI Clearance sooner?
[/quote
Did you apply in their regional office? It takes 30 days if you go to regional offices. My brother had to fly to Manila to get his NBI clearance. He got it same day but his friend got his after a week because he had a "hit".

Stick around and pay attention. You'll learn, there are "gold diggers" all over the world.
Just because you refused to accept money from your fiance doesn't mean those that did are automatically gold diggers.
Did I offend you? I didn't specifically mention that...and take note of the word "some"...so that's in general!
-
The best way is to have DELICADEZA. I never accepted money from my fiance even if he offered. I have my pride because we are not married yet. When he visited me thrice...I offered to share expenses on food. Some Filipinas...and it's a fact...are just after a foreigner's money that's why some foreigners have the impression that Filipinas are gold diggers.

CEAC means Consular Electronic Application Center that is where to schedule online and get the confirmation appointment letter..Goodluck
THANK YOU.
-
I scheduled my interview today and I got the appointment confirmation in my email. It had an instruction to bring the following documents at the Embassy for your Interview: Appointment Letter. Valid Passport. CEAC Confirmation Letter. 2” x 2” color photo in white background. I don't have this CEAC Confirmation. Is this the one the NVC is supposed to send us containing the case number? Thank you.

priority date, that's is NOA1 date (received or noticed date)
does it matter if i put the wrong date?
-
check no.. i have plans too but i still check no.. cuz your not sure yet where and when your going to start working
I said YES and specified only if there is work authorization and employer is unknown. I followed the sample forms here on visa journey because it makes sense. Just look at the K-1 flow here...you can even apply for SS number a day after your arrival and once you have that, you can start looking for job.

Hello everyone. I scheduled my interview online today and I got stuck at the "priority date". I have my case number but we don't have the priority date since we haven't received the official letter from NVC. I tried putting the date of our NOA2 approval and the case number we got from calling NVC. It was actually processed and I got my interview appointment on August 26. It's the latest date this August and the next date available is September 5. So anybody here who has the same interview date (august 26) in Manila? Please let me know. Thank you.

that is easy,,all u have to do is go to a public lawyer and explain ur situation and they will make some kind of affidavit,,i forgot the name but that's what i did. As long as u have an affidavit u will be fine. It may cost u 500 pesos coz mine was only 300 few years ago.
Thank you for your advice

I had my Late registraton for my birth certificate, tinanong nila kung bakit late registration ako, sabi ko nman kasi hindi pinaparegister agad ng parents ko then the interviewer said,i see..yun lang..hindi nman nila hiningi yung baptismal ko..pero dadalhin mo nlang yung mga supporting documents just encase!
I appreciate all your replies. Thank you so much
-
No, those papers will not be returned to you...They will keep the original copy of those papers.
Oh thank you. Do you think it will be an issue if my NSO birth certificate is registered late?
-
Hi VJ members. I just want to ask those who have already gone for interview in Manila US Embassy if their documents like NBI, CENOMAR and NSO Birth Certificate are returned to them after they have been approved? Thank you.
-
Hello VJ members. I have a delayed registration for my birth. I was originally born in Mindanao in 1975 but during the time when NSO required all Birth certificates in the so-called SECPA Paper, I found out I was not in their system (negative result). So, my parents registered me late in Iloilo City where we presently live. So i got this NSO birth certificate where I was born in Iloilo City in 2005. I have all my documents including passport, drivers license and even my PRC license showing my place of birth is Iloilo City. Just last May 2011, I requested for a new copy of my NSO birth certificate and they gave me my Mindanao place of birth. NSO told me they found out i have 2 birth of places so they blocked in their system my late registration. The problem is, all my legal documents acknowledged that i was born in Iloilo City...not in Mindanao. Will this create a problem during my interview in the US embassy? I will provide them my Birth Certifcate in Iloilo City where I was registered late since i still have the original SECPA Paper I got from NSO in 2005 and I know that there is no expiry for NSO birth certificates. I am also worried wether the embassy will counter check it with the NSO and they will find out I was originally born in Mindanao and will deny my visa because it won't coincide with my place of birth on my passport and other docs. It's not my fault that NSO's system failed to register me in time in 2005. Please, I need your advice on this. Thank you.

If it's a "C" corporation then all of the records of his company are not really relevant - he's an employee, in spite of owning the controlling share of stock, because his corporation is taxed separately from his personal income. His business filings will not be considered because his company is not sponsoring you - he is. It would be different if he was self-employed or owned an "S" corporation.
Consulates do not like complicated affidavits of support. They're not accountants, and they're not going to audit his books to see if he's a qualified sponsor. If he can show a consistent record of payments from his company in the form of wages then they'll accept his affidavit. Likewise, if he can show a history of income evidenced by his tax records then they'll accept his affidavit. If they have to analyze financial documents from his company, which is legally a separate entity from himself, then they probably won't accept his affidavit.
Since his 2010 tax return is not sufficient, he should focus on getting the pay records.
Thank you for your advice. I will ask him to provide more evidence.
-
His 2010 tax return is a problem, but it won't mean the affidavit of support will be denied for being insufficient if he can convince the consulate that his current income is better. In addition to the paystubs, it would be a good idea if he can get a letter from his employer stating when he was hired, how much his annual wages are, and that his position is full-time and permanent.
Insurance is only an asset if it can be cashed out, which usually means "whole life" rather than "term life" insurance.
He owns a C-Corp specialized in software development. He provided a letter that he is the CEO and that he is paying himself. He had this business since 2002. He also provided current and quarterly payments of his company for state employee withholding and sales taxes. He also provided a filing history of his business from 2008 to March 2011 from the department of revenue. I just want to know if these are convincing enough. Thank you.
-
Hello VJ members...I need your opinion about my Fiance's Affidavit of Support. He stated that he is earning $40,000 a year and also stated that he has life insurance. The supporting documents he provided are his tax return in 2010 with total income of only $19,000 because he only worked for part of the year, not for the whole year. This year, he is paid in full and thus provided evidence of pay stubs and checks in the last 3 months. He has two kids who are partly dependent to him (he has joint custody with ex, and only one child is dependent to him in his tax return). My questions are: Do we have to provide his 2009 tax return or the 2010 tax return is enough? Was his income of only $19,000 in 2010 be a problem? Thank you for your help.
-
Thanks Dean_De! Initially, he was asked to come back yesterday July 26 (which he did) and was asked to return next week.
So they still haven't assigned the contract to anyone after almost a month? Well, that truly sucks! NBI clearance is all we need to complete NVC paperwork.
Waiting...waiting...again
NBI is currently upgrading their system that's why it takes a month to get a new NBI. My brother went to NBI main office in Manila just to get his and he got it in a day. If you have a "hit" it will take longer.
A Very Special Announcement!
