That's crazy for your colleague---what is his/her field office?

I was pleasantly surprised at the speed of mine, too, given my background wasn't exactly stellar in the eyes of USCIS...

Has your colleague spoken to L2s about the scheduling delay?

Yep it is crazy. It’s the same field office as mine (Houston). Actually, kudos to this website because you get to learn so much about the process, the do’s, the Dont’s, etc. When I mentioned to her about calling and getting an infopass appointment, she was very surprised as she had no idea one can do that. I don’t think she has gotten around to call them yet.

It can be, depending on the speed of the field office.

I applied online July 2017 and had my oath in October 2017.

There are others who applied the same month in NY via paper application and are still waiting to be scheduled for an interview.

I agree with @Going through. I have a similar experience filing it online. I think it was way faster than paper. One of my colleague filed in the last week of May of 2017 and she is yet to be scheduled for an interview. Her case is simpler than mine but still, no progress on her end whats so ever. I have suggested her to book an info pass appointment but she can’t get one as they fill very quickly.

Similarly, I met this guy during my oath (feb 14 2018) and we started chit chatting. Came to find out that he had applied in December of 2016(paper). When I told him that I had applied in July 2017, he could not believe it. Keep in mind, my case wasn’t straight forward.

Congratulations. Problem is that Not only my status didn’t change, also I haven’t received any letter

@Houston2018 - thank you! I would suggest that you wait patiently for a little longer and in case, your wife receives a letter and you don’t then first, call the 1-800 number and if they don’t help, book an infopass appointment. Just keep in mind, infopass appointments are only open for 2 week period at a time and they fill very quickly. I have seen it on many occasions that the online status is not up to date so I would say, don’t worry about that. Anyway, I still hope both your letters come in together. Good luck!!!

  4. My interview took place on december 14th 2017. I was told that a decision could not be made at the moment. I waited and waited till I finally received an update online on January 22nd that my oath has been scheduled. Since I had applied online, a pdf document was uploaded with my oath information around Jan 25th. Few days following that, I received the oath letter in the mail. My oath took place on feb 14 in Houston with more than 2500 people. Funny thing is, I still recieve updates that my oath has been scheduled and there are no further updates 🙄. I have had my passport since end of feb. hope this helps and good luck!

  5. Updating my timeline - I have received my PP and NC

I don't understand.  If you were a non-immigrant, the question about selective service registration did not apply to you (see the instructions right below the question) and you would just put in "no."  Why did you think you needed to obtain a letter?

I see what you're saying and you're probably correct. The letter was obtained back in 2013 when i was applying for Financial Aid (school). I was selected for verification and had to provide proof on why i did not sign up.

When applying for N400, I did select "no" but submitted a copy of that letter (for double protection).

You still need to disclose, pour lawyer added to our application and explained what you do not do is submit documentation but still disclose it, I had a traffic ticket like 10 years ago, no fine but we still included on the applciation with the explanation

"You do not need to submit documentation for traffic fines or incidents that did not involve an arrest or did not involve drugs or alcohol, if the only penalty was a fine of less than $500 or points on your driving record"

My apologies. Yes, you need to disclose the information but not submit documentation. If it happens after the interview then paper work is required regardless of the fine.

  8. Congratulations @Kmnm!!

i would like to clarify one thing for everyone. Yes, you do not need to disclose traffic tickets under $500 when filing for N400, however, if you receive a traffic ticket after your interview and BEFORE your oath, you do need to disclose that information. The oath letter does have a checklist on the back of the page. Also, the recommendation is to clear out the ticket, if possible, before the oath ceremony.

Congrats!  Sounds like a lovely ceremony~

Just to give you an idea of timeline:  I requested regular processing on my passport and it took 14 days from the time my application went in to me receiving the passport and naturalization certificate back...seems they are moving quicker these days.

Thanks a bunch! Yes, even right now (Jan-feb), the total completion time for pp is about two weeks with standard processing. However, keeping in mind that my flight reservations are non refundable and non transferable, I did not take a chance and for the peace of mind, expediated the application.

  11. Thankfully and with a big relief, I became a citizen today :). It’s been one hell of a journey.

I reached at the location minutes before 7am and was amazed to see the number of people standing in line outside in the parking lot. I parked and stood in line. Finally at 8:20am, I was able to take a seat. Yes, it took that much time just to get in the building and check in. The judge showed up at 10:15am and the ceremony began. I have to say it was a really pleasant experience with the commisioner of our county (Harris) and the judge showing some gratitude towards immigrants. Their speeches were all about immigrants power and how America has developed with the help of the immigrants. In total, 2300 people were sworn in and they were from 159 countries. I left the building at around 11:45am and have already applied for the passport. Hope to get it soon as I am traveling on the 14th of next month.

A big thank you to this forum who has helped us all tremendously. Good luck to the ones still waiting. Cheers!

Completely agree, your case is different than everyone else. I had my interview on 14th December and got my letter online on 19th December.

BTW, Sam, were you able to attend the ceremony today? I finally became citizen today!

    Thanks,

    Khawar

Hey @BigK, many congratulations to you and your wife! Yes, I attended the ceremony and boy, 2300 people. I was surely not expecting that many to be there.  Such a relief to be finally done with the process 🙏.
