  1. I just checked our case status and saw that today they mailed out our interview letter for Nov 14th. Did not receive text, haven't checked the email address I put for that case yet. Very ironic that it falls on the same date as my visa interview with my ex in the Dominican Republic. Ours was Nov 14th 2011 and this one is Nov 14th 2014.

Just for text update which means they literally JUST put it up right when I checked.

  2. My husband received his EAD in the mail yesterday as well and even though he's been approved for the GC, we figured that we'd run down to the SS office to apply for one since he's waiting to accept a job and any extra time having it will help! The people at the office were pleasant but they were unable to verify him in the system. They said that it was right on the cusp of the ten days that it normally takes DHS to update their system. They said that they would hold on to the application and try to process it every day until he shows up in the system. You're on the same timeline as us for the EAD..same approval date, same day receiving it. I hope yours is already in the system by the time you get there!

Thanks for the tip! We are going to go tomorrow morning and hopefully he is in the system. It will be 11 business days tomorrow.

    Hi,

Just to let you both know that if you apply to SS without your green card, you will have an annotation on the card: Valid for work only with DHS authorization. This is the reason why I am waiting for my GC to do it. :P

Yes it sucks to see those words there but he needs the SSN to start work and also to apply for driving permit. I though they all say that unless you are a US Citizen?

  3. So we were scheduled to have our interview today at the JFK building in Boston at 2pm. We arrived to the building at 1:40 and went through security checks. We checked into the waiting area at 1:45 and were directed to sit there until someone called us. At 2:15, an IO came out and asked that I (US Citizen) come with him and that my husband wait in the waiting room. We went to his office and he was very friendly. He asked me to remain standing and raise my right hand to swear that I was telling the truth. After that he asked me to sit down and he told me that if I had any new documents or evidence that I would like to show him then I could pull it out now.

He pulled out my I-130 and quizzed me on the information on it, putting a red checkmark next to every question I answered correctly.

What is your full name? Previous alias? DOB? SS#, Current husbands name, his DOB, Any kids? Address?

After he was done with the I-130 part of it, he asked me questions about our relationship while he was jotting down the answers. This was a very laid back questioning and just felt like a normal conversation.

    How did you two meet?

    Who went to meet who?

    Who proposed? When? Where?

He asked about my 2 children from my previous marriage...what grades are they in? What sports do they play? How old are they? How do they get to school?

    What is our new address?

    Who lives with us?

Where does the income come from?

After we were finished talking, he asked me to move over one seat and that he was going to get my husband. He explained to me that he was going to ask my husband the same questions that he asked me and I was to sit there quietly.

He had my husband take an oath, then asked him to sit down next to me. He asked him all of the same questions. All of our answers matched perfectly.

Next came all of the NO questions (pologamy, gun training, prostitution) on the 1-485. After answering no to all of the questions, he said that he was going to approve our case!

We ended up walking out of the building about 2:45 and ten minutes later we received text and email notification that our Card was in production! :dancing: :joy:

    Congratulations!!!

    EAD Card sent out today!!

  4. Woohoo! I just randomly checked again, and it says they sent us an appointment letter yesterday, and that our appointment date is on September 4th!!

Again, no e-mail or text confirmation or notification :/. But pretty happy that the interview was scheduled.

Ooo yay! I'm excited for you guys that are getting interview dates already. God knows when NYC will schedule appts lol.

  5. I'm so confused, I thought my address error was corrected over the phone then I received this email today:

On July 23, 2014, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

I believe this must be my NOA1 for my I-485 that I never got.

Then about an hour later I get this e-mail from them:

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production (Yaay I'm already approved lol)

On July 23, 2014 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

Both e-mails are regarding my I-485 application

I just requested an infopass since this is getting a bit confusing. I believe this document is my NOA for the I-485 or a RFE...

What do you guys think I should do?

Woah! This is super confusing. It could be a mistake on their part. When is your infopass appointment? Can you call the cust service number, maybe they will have quicker answers.

  6. So as our interview date nears and we are getting everything ready, we have come across a bump on the road.

I started working at a company this year and make enough to cover for the affidavit BUT I get paid in cash and so the only proof I can have is a letter from my employer. In the past years I have not really had a stable job and it reflects in my income tax return. I have last year's tax transcript (first year I filed) which reflects almost nothing in income. We are trying to still find someone that can co-sponsor but as the date nears, we are running out of luck.

If need be and we do not find a co-sponsor, will the etter from my employer be enough?

(please do not turn this into a tax evasion discussion, you can have that conversation elsewhere, especially because I have not stated that I will not be filing with a 1099 at the end of the year (which I will).)

    Thanks!

P.S. For those of you who have recently gone to the DR Consulate...how many of you have been asked for the affidavit of support documentation?

  7. I was looking at the checklist on the Santo Domingo US Embassy website and came across this:

"A birth certificate must be presented for each child under age 21, even if that person is not applying for a visa with you at this time. "

Does this mean that we have to bring his daughter's birth certificate regardless of if she is or isn't applying for a K2 visa? Can anyone that has already interviewed specifically in sdo answer please! :)

  8. I'm the petitioner for my husband i'm doing the I130 I DONT KNOW THE NAME of the process I JUST KNOW IS WHATEVER you send b4 you get the interview date it been a moth already from the date i send it and whenever i called the embassy they said they haven't receive it yet i dont know if this can help a little more if not is fine i guess i just wait. sorry

Did you send in the paperwork including the affidavit and paid all the fees to the national visa center (nvc)? Call NVC at 603 334 0700 and speak to someone there to make sure that your case in indeed complete. NVC is the one that schedules appointments for CR1 and so they will be sending you an email when a date is assigned. They are open until 1130pm eastern time so you still have time to call tonight.
